Advanced Minecraft: Command Block New Class! Get ready to wire up your Minecraft worlds with Command Blocks and Redstone! Even if you’re a seasoned Minecraft pro, there’s plenty to learn. From basic traps to powered machines, Redstone offers Minecraft players a whole new range of opportunities to create amazing things. Minecraft’s Command Block is a psuedo-programming language that consists of logic and execution written in text. We’ll learn to spawn creatures, teleport over worlds, and make multiplayer games. Java Minecraft Mod Development Superhero Armor

A Series of Unfortunate One-Acts Explore drama by performing in original one-act plays. Tell tales of mistakes, mishaps, accidents, and ill-fated situations. Create a character in body, voice, attitude, and laugh as the characters try to succeed in their hopeless dilemmas. Everyone gets a part and all experience levels welcome. At the end of the series, each student will present an “Evening of Unfortunate One-Acts”. The performance will be on Saturday, December 15 at Central Middle School in the auditorium. Drama Kids

GRADES 2-5: VIOLIN AND CELLO LESSONS WITH MACPHAIL CENTER FOR MUSIC

Wayzata Schools Community Education, in partnership with MacPhail Center for Music, offers quality afterschool and evening violin and cello lessons. MacPhail Teaching Artists offer small group lessons to students in 2nd and 3rd grades, and private lessons to students in 4th and 5th grades. Weekly lessons begin in late October and continue through early May, ending with a spring concert. Limited instrument rental is available. Join us for our Strings Information Night on Sept. 20. New families can meet some of the teachers, learn more about the program and rent an instrument all in one evening! The registration deadline is September 30. Engineering Club Engineering Club introduces students to a new, hands-on, STEM learning lesson every week from various engineering disciplines. For each lesson, students focus on developing problem solving, critical thinking and peer collaboration skills. These life skills provide students with the confidence to approach challenges in their lives and realize that they can succeed. MathWiz Elementary Series For Advanced Math Students The Elementary MathWiz program is a long term honors prealgebra course for accelerated students. This course is aligned to common core math standards and introduces algebraic concepts through theory and application. Modeling and real-world problems are introduced. Students will focus on the study of algebraic manipulation, graphical interpretation, and get ready for the talented youth algebra programs at the universities. MathWiz Middle School Series For Advanced Math Students Middle School MathWiz is a long-term honors Algebra 1 course for accelerated students. In this program, students will extend the topics introduced in pre-algebra. Class sessions include short lecture, small group work and independent study. Electronics and Programming Learn to build electronic devices and write software programs to make the devices work. Build circuits using basic components such as resistors, capacitors, LEDs, sensors and breadboard. Write software to interact with those circuits. Build your own musical circuits, and write software to listen to your tunes! Introduction to buzzers, 7 segment LED displays, and switches will also be covered. Computer Sciences - Python/ JavaScript/Ruby on Rails This Computer Science Program is designed to engage young minds and help them advance from computer users to creators. This series blends online programming and hands-on activities using Python, JavaScript, and Ruby on Rails. Optical Illusions, Spies and Engineering Science Is the hand really quicker than the eye? Investigate with various fun optical illusions. Next, go undercover and become a spy to create secret codes, a periscope, spyglasses, and more. Then, we will step into the field of engineering and discover how engineers use their scientific and technical skills to design machines, buildings and gadgets. Science Explorers

MN STEM 2-Day Camp Looking for something fun and educational for your child to do during the break? Students will be able to run their own experiments and design their own contraptions, all while learning the incredible science behind each project that makes it work. Each day will have a different focus, ranging from learning human anatomy, to design engineering, to programming robots. The course is designed and executed by graduates from the U of M, and MIT. Grandmasters of Chess with Igor Rybakov New and returning students invited. Coach Igor has coached two team state champions, individual state and national champions and gobs of state trophy winners. We have 50+ chess lessons for all skill levels. The lessons progress from rudimentary concepts through higherlevel theories. They practice positions set by the coach to improve their understanding of the concept. Students are also given chess puzzles (constructed by WIM Serafima Sokolovskaya) and work with the coach’s guidance to solve them. Each class ends with students playing 20-30 minutes of chess. Destination ImagiNation is a worldwide creative problem solving competition for kids. Teams of six to seven members work together to use creativity and critical thinking skills to solve challenges without assistance from adults or any other non-team members. Palette Up! Paper Marbling

Marbling is centuries old, yet incredibly simple to learn. You will learn some basic marbling techniques including the ancient Japanese art form of Suminagashi. Manipulate multicolored inks floating on water that will be transferred onto paper. Create unique marbleized designs on a blank sketch book as well as note cards and other forms of paper.

Mosaic Bird Bath

This bird bath is made with an 8” terra-cotta drip tray. It is decorated with pieces of stained glass then grouted at the next class. It is beautiful when completed!
