Please follow the configuration steps in the order they are presented to ensure a smooth experience. If you have questions or need assistance while working through this packet please connect with someone in a MyWay construction vest.
When you are done configuring your iPad please leave this packet for the next person needing to configure their iPad.
MyWay Student iPad Setup Step 1: Connect to the District Student Wireless Network 1. Tap Settings on the main home screen 2. Tap Wi-Fi 3. Under Choose a Network tap 284Student 4. Delete the existing information in the Username field 5. Enter your District username into the Username field 6. Enter your District password into the Password field 7. Tap Join 8. When asked, tap Accept on the certificate prompt 9. Set Ask to Join Networks to OFF 10. On the main Wi-Fi screen, tap the blue arrow next to 284Student 11. Turn Auto-Join ON 12. Establish Internet connection a. Tap Safari b. Enter www.google.com in the browser address field c. When login screen appears enter your District username and password d. Tap Browse the web! **Please note you will need to authenticate to the District web filter before using Internet based apps or web browsers while on any wireless Internet connection.
MyWay Student iPad Setup Step 2: Add Your isd284.com Email Account to the iPad 1. 2. 3. 4.
Tap Settings on the main home screen Tap Mail, Contacts, Calendars Tap Add Account... Tap Gmail a. Enter your Name b. Enter Email address (Email address is your network username + @isd284.com) c. Enter isd284.com password (Email password is the same as your network password) d. Enter Description for this email account 5. Tap Next 6. Configure your Mail preferences by turning ON/OFF the Mail, Calendar, and Notes settings 7. Tap Save
MyWay Student iPad Setup Step 3: Create an iTunes Account *If you already have an iTunes account linked to your isd284.com email address please skip to step 4.
Create an iTunes Account Without Attaching a Credit Card Prior to creating your Apple ID please configure Mail with your @isd284.com email account. *IMPORTANT: APPLE'S TERMS OF SERVICE REQUIRE THE ACCOUNT HOLDER TO BE AGED 13 OR OLDER. IF YOUR STUDENT IS NOT 13 YEARS OF AGE PLEASE REGISTER WITH ITUNES USING THE PARENT OR GUARDIAN'S INFORMATION, INCLUDING THE BIRTHDATE. MAKE SURE THE ACCOUNT ID IS THE STUDENT'S @ISD284.COM EMAIL ADDRESS. 1. Open the App Store on your iPad 2. Find a free application on the App Store a. We suggest iBooks or Google Drive 3. Tap Free followed by Install 4. Tap Create New Apple ID 5. Choose your country, then tap Done 6. Next tap Agree located at the bottom of the Terms & Conditions page 7. Enter your @isd284.com email address, security questions, birthday*, and create your password 8. Enter an optional rescue email address 9. Tap Next 10. Select None as your payment option 11. Continue to fill out the required email, address, and phone number fields. Tap Next 12. Next is a screen that says, “Verify your Account.” Tap Done and check your email for a verification email from iTunes Store 13. Open the email, and click the link enclosed in the email to activate your account 14. Once you tap the link, the App Store should automatically open and prompt you to sign in with your account name and password 15. Tap Sign In and you will see a thank you screen

Tap Settings on the main home screen Tap iTunes & App Stores Enter your isd284.com email address in the Apple ID field Enter your iTunes account password in the Password field Tap Sign In Set your iTunes Match preference to OFF Set your Automatic Downloads preference to OFF
MyWay Student iPad Setup Step 5: iCloud Configuration iCloud will provide you with a wireless backup of your data to the Apple cloud and track the location of your iPad, using Find My iPad, should it go missing. To configure iCloud on your iPad follow these steps: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8.
Tap Settings on the main home screen Tap iCloud Enter Apple ID and Password Tap Sign In Read and tap Agree to the iCloud Account Terms of Service Tap Agree a second time in the pop-up window Tap OK to allow iCloud to use the location of your iPad Verify iCloud Account Settings a. Mail - OFF b. Contacts - OFF/ON c. Calendars - ON d. Reminders - ON e. Safari - OFF f. Notes - OFF g. Photo Stream - OFF h. Documents & Data - ON i. Find My iPad - ON 9. Tap Storage & Backup a. Set iCloud Backup to ON b. Tap OK to Start iCloud Backup Note - Back ups will automatically start if iPad: ● is connected to Internet over Wi-Fi ● is connected to a power source ● has the screen locked
MyWay Student iPad Setup Step 6: Set Passcode on iPad A passcode is used to secure your iPad and data, please set a passcode to help protect your data. To set a passcode: 1. On the iPad go to Settings 2. Tap on General 3. Tap Passcode Lock 4. Tap Turn Passcode On and make sure Simple Passcode is set to ON 5. Enter your passcode a. Don’t use your birthday or other easily broken code b. If you forget your passcode the District technology department can remotely remove the passcode from your device allowing you to reset the passcode 6. Define Passcode Lock Settings a. A. Set Require Passcode timeout Note: The shorter the time the more secure, find a good balance for yourself b. B. Turn OFF Picture Frame access when locked c. C. Set Erase Data to OFF
MyWay Student iPad Setup Step 7: Redeem District Purchased Apps 1. 2. 3. 4.
Open App Store Tap Featured Scroll to the bottom of the page, verify your Apple ID, tap Redeem Enter the VPP Code you were given by the District a. Tap Go on your keyboard 5. When the code is verified tap Redeem 6. Repeat this process for each VPP code you are given 7. Apps will appear on the last home screen
