What students say about Sally’s classes: “This is an important class. Thank you Sally.” “Sally is awesome, very proficient and passionate on this subject.” Living Will Health Care Directives What happens if you become incapacitated and cannot make decisions for yourself? Without a Power of Attorney and Health Care Directive, a court proceeding for guardianship and conservatorship is probably inescapable. A Power of Attorney allows you to choose who will handle your finances and property. A Health Care Directive allows you to name someone to make health care decisions for you, give instructions for terminal care, and state what funeral arrangements you want. In this class, you will prepare both of these documents. #LVGWLL-300-00-001-12 Wednesday, Jan. 25 6:30-8:30 pm $25/person for 1 class Central Middle School-Rm A202 Sally Mortenson, Attorney

Write Your Own Will Who would raise your children if you died? Who will be the executor of your estate? Without a will the laws of Minnesota and a judge will make all of the decisions. It’s important to have a will to make sure that your wishes (and not those of the state) are carried out. Learn about estates and wills and prepare a complete and legal will in class. You will be provided with instructions, a professionally prepared form, witnesses and a notary public - all of the tools necessary to complete this important document before you leave class. The class is for those who have an estate of less than $700,000 (including life insurance) and who do not own a business. Couples need to register and pay individually. #WILL-300-00-001-12 Wednesday, Feb. 1 6:30-9 pm $45/person for 1 class Central Middle School-Rm A201 Sally Mortenson, Attorney

Absolutely Abdominal We all have four layers of abdominal muscles, each with fibers running in a different direction. This criss-crossing pattern shapes your midsection and supports the lower back. There are many reasons why the abs can weaken and “lose shape”: past pregnancies, abdominal surgery, sitting for hours a day at a desk, just to name a few. Common crunches only serve to further weaken muscles. In this workshop, we will learn how to strengthen all four layers of ab muscle, reshape your waistline and check overstretched abdominal connective tissue from pregnancies. (If you have this issue, it will change how you do abdominal exercises.) Get a tummy tuck without surgery and find relief from lower back discomfort to boot! Come and learn how to strengthen and flatten your abdomen quickly, effectively and in a very functional way. Come in loose clothing and be prepared to exercise. Bring a mat. Youth age 16 to 17 may register when accompanied by a registered guardian. Supply fee is included in the class fee. #ABABDO-300-00-001-12 Thursday, Mar. 8 6:30-8 pm $35/person for 1 class Central Middle School-Media Center Janice Novak

Get Healthy! Women, Weight & Hormones: 7 Strategies for Fighting Fat After 40!

Fridays at IOCP classes take place at: 1605 Cty Rd 101, Plymouth 55447, Suite 200AB.

Is fat collecting around your mid-section and, no matter how well you watch what you eat or how much you exercise, that weight is not budging? If this is your story, then your inability to lose weight may be connected to your hormone levels. Until you discover and correct any imbalances, losing weight could continue to be very difficult. Fluctuating hormone levels and ratios at mid-life very much affect weight gain and fat retention. In this workshop you will Janice Novak learn 7 key strategies for fighting fat and losing weight, including: which hormones can make you fatter; why hormone ratios are important; why you are gaining weight around the middle; what HRT or birth control pills have to do with weight gain; which food choices make this worse; how to have your hormone levels checked reliably; what steps need to be taken to safely break the vicious cycle of hormone-related weight gain; and how to help your body begin to lose weight again. Janice regularly presents health segments on television and radio, including a recent guest spot on the Oprah Winfrey Show.

25 6:30-8:30 pm $25/person for 1 class Central Middle School-Rm A202 Sally Mortenson, Attorney at Law

Write Your Own Will Who would raise your children if you died? Who will be the executor of your estate? Without a will the laws of Minnesota and a judge will make the decisions. It’s important to have a will to make sure that your wishes (and not those of the state) are carried out. Learn about estates and wills and prepare a complete and legal will in class. You will be provided with instructions, a professionally prepared form, witnesses and a notary public - all of the tools necessary to complete this document before you leave class. The class is for those who have an estate of less than $700,000 (including life insurance) and who do not own a business. Couples need to register and pay individually. #WILL-300-00-001-12 Wednesday, Feb. 1 6:30-9 pm $45/person for 1 class Central Middle School-Rm A201 Sally Mortenson, Attorney at Law

Hobbies & Home Care Instructor Michelle Mero Riedel is a Master Gardener, Vice President Oakdale Garden Club, BA Speech Communications, and has published articles on winter sowing seeds, container gardening and annuals and perennials, and has appeared on Grow with KARE. Easy Seed Starting Using the Winter Sowing Method

Container Garden Design Using Proven Performing Plants

Want to grow a lot of plants? Then explore sowing your own seeds during winter months in an easy, less-mess environment. Winter sowing is an inexpensive and easy germination process that uses recyclables, such as milk cartons, to create mini-greenhouses. After assembling, they are placed outside during the winter and spring months. This method is rewarding, fun and requires a more leisurely pace than inside sowing.

Student quote: “I took the container gardening class last night and thought it was great! I would love to see more classes offered by Michelle. I am ready to go out and plant!!” Do you desire lush, healthy, long-lasting and colorful container gardens that add pizzazz to your property? Ideally, container gardens should be vibrant for five months. Whether you are a novice or experienced gardener, it is hard to know where to begin. Learn how to get started on finding fast-growing, vigorous nursery quality plants with season-long colors. View images of striking combinations of readily available plants that are easily created in containers. A detailed handout is supplied.
