Mental Health and Addictions Credentialing (nurses) Professional Development workshops 2020 These monthly workshops will provide training for primary practice nurses to achieve mental health credentialing and will support you to manage your patients with mental health conditions such as anxiety, depression, stress and substance use issues with more confidence. All topics will support you to complete the mental health credentialing process. This is similar to PDRP and will contribute to PDRP if you are undertaking this process. Topics include: • Introduction – mental health and addiction in the NZ context • Commonly presenting issues in primary care • Listening skills and communication, de-escalation • Early intervention – screening, assessment, brief intervention • Mental health and suicide prevention • Long term management – complex clients • Age related mental health issues • Medications used in primary care • Cultural considerations for mental health nursing practice Dates as follows:
