International Travel Covid-19 Travel Certificate system update
From 28 February, International Travel Covid-19 Vaccination Certificates (ITCVCs) will no longer be available for New Zealanders travelling overseas.
The World Health Organization last year declared COVID-19 was no longer a public health emergency and recommended the lifting of COVID-19 immunisation proof as a border entry condition. Most countries have now done that.
In New Zealand the system established to issue the certificates will be decommissioned from 28 February.
The certificates were introduced in 2021 to help people who required evidence of vaccination against COVID-19 for international travel. Since then, more than 2 million certificates have been issued for New Zealanders travelling overseas.
People travelling overseas who want proof of their COVID-19 immunisations can request a copy of them from My Health Record.
My Health Record lets users see a record of all their immunisation history, including COVID19, and print these if needed. My Health Record is a new secure website that over time will have more health information available, such as current and past medications, lab results and community services and high use card entitlements.
People can access My Health Record using the same details they used for My Covid Record. Some people will need to upgrade their My Health Account login for extra security to access their wider immunisation records.
