Introduction to the Health Care Home Project team

Nau Mai, Haere Mai Jeane Rossiter Jeane Rossiter is joining the WBOP PHO team as Project Lead for Health Care Home and says she is looking forward to helping implement a new model of care designed to improve patient access to healthcare in the region. Jeane (Pirirakau) was born in Tauranga and has worked in the Bay of Plenty health sector for many years, including as a dispensing technician in community and hospital pharmacy, and as a medical centre receptionist and practice manager in both the eastern and western Bay of Plenty, including Murupara. For the past eight years she has been the Performance Manager at Eastern Bay Primary Health Alliance in Whakatane. Her Health Care Home role will involve socialising both patients and practice staff to a new and innovative way of working for general practice. “I will be ensuring that patients and practice staff are all on the journey and understand the reasons for the changes and the benefits we should be able to achieve from making those changes. “I see this role as an opportunity to bring my previous roles together and find better ways for general practice to identify patients’ needs and streamline services for both the practice and the patient in what is an ever-changing and demanding primary care environment.” Jeane is married to Pete and in their spare time they enjoy travel, following the V8 Supercars and family time.


New role for Michaela Kamo Health Care Home Project Coordinator Michaela Kamo will be familiar to many of you in her role of Outreach Immunisations Service Coordinator for the WBOP PHO. Michaela (Ngai Tahu, Ngati Mutunga) will retain some of her responsibilities in this area but will join Jeane in helping those practices involved in Health Care Home to facilitate change. “We will be providing support to those practices and doing everything we can to assist them.” Michaela came to the PHO eight years ago after a career in radio and running her own hospitality/events business with her partner. A mum of three and grandmother of one, she holds a New Zealand Diploma of Business, Diploma of Broadcasting Communication Radio, and is currently completing a Marketing and Te Reo Māori degree at the University of Waikato.
