Taking Good Quality Skin Lesion Photos With the First Check Skin Scope Lens 1.

Keep it simple – Take 3 well focused photos with good lighting a. Clinical: Overview of body area with marker on lesion b. Macro: close-up without dermatoscopic, with marker on lesion c. Dermatoscopic with fluid interface

2.

Light is important – the more light on the lesion the more that can be seen, don’t use a flash as this may overexpose the lesion

3.

Have a steady hand - check the photograph for blurriness.

4.

Take the photos perpendicular to the lesion

5.

Remove all hair where possible especially for dermatoscopic photos

6.

Always use a fluid gel directly on the lesion – e.g. KY Jelly or hand sanitiser.

Wash

the gel from the lens after use. 7.

Anonymise the photograph – blurred eyes rather than create large blocks that may cover the lesion. You can also use ‘SnagIt’ app for this.

8.

Have a process for storing the photographs – to find for future reference.

9.

To open up skin scope lens – open on unhinged side. The stickiness refreshes when washed.
