WORKSHOP for HEALTH CARE TEAMS Playing the Game: Exploring privilege and inequity in getting to the doctor In this interactive workshop, participants will join their peers in playing a ‘Snakes and Ladders game with a difference’. The game is based on key findings from a recently completed study of general practice reception processes, funded by the Health Research Council of New Zealand. The study explored the ways that reception processes, at the point of entry to the health system, pose barriers to access for people who experience social marginalisation. It also explored solutions. The aim of the workshop is professional development for health care teams, especially general practice teams. It is an opportunity to have fun while exploring the experiences of patients, receptionists, and practice managers involved in the patient journey to care. Participants can expect an enjoyable, informative session with lots of discussion!
