Ethical approval #D18/015 Identifying and addressing gaps in primary care medical practice staff’s oral health knowledge and management of dental presentations Information for participants Thank you for showing an interest in this project. Please read this information carefully before deciding whether or not to participate. You are under no obligation to participate, but if you decide to participate, we thank you. If you decide not to take part, there will be no disadvantage to you, and we thank you for considering our request. The objectives of this research are to identify the gaps in primary care medical practice clinical staff’s (doctors’ and nurses’) knowledge of oral health, and determine what they want to know about oral health and the management of oral health-related presentations in their practice. We are seeking primary care medical practitioners - nurses and doctors - to complete an online questionnaire. Should you agree to take part in this project, you will be asked to complete a short online questionnaire which should take around ten minutes. If you do not want to answer a particular question, please leave a blank response. Participation is voluntary and the information collected is anonymous. You may withdraw from the study at any time without penalty. Completion of the questionnaire indicates your consent to participate. The data collected will be securely stored in such a way that only members of the research team will be able to gain access to it. Data obtained as a result of the research will be retained in secure storage for at least 5 years for health research purposes. Results of this research may be published, but no material that could personally identify you will be used in any reports on this study. This project is being conducted by Ms Shenyll Delpachitra (2020 4th year medical student) as a summer studentship under the supervision of Dr Smith and A/P McBain (UOW), and Dr Liz Hitchings, Public Health Dentistry specialist (CCDHB). It is funded by the Research and Education Committee, Royal NZ College of General Practitioners.
