Practice Inclusion Phase

➜ PHOs submit the list of facilities (i.e. practices) who will participate in the next survey round

➜ Action in the data collection portal

➜ If no changes are made then the list included from the previous survey round will automatically be selected

Survey Reference Period

➜ Patient sample who will receive a survey will be a selection of patients who have visited their practices during the survey reference period

➜ PHOs to notify facilities about the survey reference period

➜ Facilities to display information about the survey to patients during this time

15 Nov - 6 Dec 23

13 December 23

Survey Results Available

➜ The survey invitations go out to patients on 15 November 2023 and they will have time until 6 December 2023 to complete the survey

➜ Results will be published in the reporting portal a few days after the survey closes

➜ This email is the way we notify the sector that the results for the most recent survey are available in the reporting portal

Recent changes to the questionnaire:

We conduct annual reviews of the adult primary care patient experience survey questionnaire to ensure it continues to collect relevant, valid, and reliable data and to identify opportunities to improve it. A key part of our most recent review (conducted in July) was to reduce the number of questions in the survey in order to reduce the time it takes for patients to complete it.

Survey Fieldwork

Following this review, these questions have been retired from the questionnaire and were not asked this quarter (August 2023):

• Did you need an interpreter to communicate with the [health care professional]?

• Did the interpreter help you clearly communicate with the [health care professional]?

• Please describe, in as much detail as possible, why you could not get health care because of COVID-19 restrictions.

• In the last 12 months, have you been given conflicting information by different doctors or health care professionals?

• Thinking about the past 12 months, which of the following areas, if any, would you like to share feedback about what would have made your health care experiences better?

• Thinking about the past 12 months, which of the following areas, if any, would you like to share feedback about what went well?

In addition, these following question modules are now on rotation. They were not asked this quarter (August 2023) and going forward, they will be asked roughly annually, and not every quarter:

• Continuity of care and tenure

• Medication module

• Medical tests module

• Emergency departments module

• Hospital stays
