Medication after cataract surgery Chlorafast (chloramphenicol) 0.5% eye drops Put ONE drop in the operated eye THREE times daily for 3 days Pred Forte eye drops Shake the bottle. Put ONE drop in the operated eye THREE times daily until finished. Artificial tears e.g. PolyTears Put ONE drop in the operated eye as often as required for irritation or discomfort.

Wait 5 minutes between drops. Do not rub your eye. Do not get water in your eye.

Contact the clinic promptly if you develop pain, redness or loss of vision.


EYE DROP MEDICATIONS AFTER GLAUCOMA SURGERY Chlorafast (Chloramphenicol) eye drops Put ONE drop in the operated eye TWICE daily for 14 days after surgery Wait 5 minutes between drops

Pred Forte Eye Drops Shake the bottle before use Put ONE drop in the operated eye FOUR times daily until the drops have finished.

Atropine 1% Eye Drops Put ONE drop in the operated eye ONCE a day until the drops have finished.

Artificial Tear drops Put ONE drop in the eye as often as required for comfort. Continue for as long as you wish.

Do not: - Rub your eyes -

Open your eyes under water or in the shower (you can wash your hair and face in the usual way)

It is not uncommon for vision to be blurry for a few days after surgery, with gradual recovery of your vision over the first week. Do not worry if your vision fluctuates a little or the eye feels scratchy or watery.

Medication after pterygium surgery Maxitrol eye drops Put ONE drop in the operated eye THREE times daily until finished Maxitrol ointment Apply a thin ribbon of ointment to the inside of the lower eyelid of the operated eye at night before you go to bed Panadeine tablets Take TWO tablets FOUR times daily if required for pain or discomfort. Do not take more than 8 tablets in 24 hours. Diclofenac 50 mg tablets Take ONE tablet with food THREE times daily if required for pain or discomfort Remove the eye pad the morning after surgery. Clean any discharge around the eye lids with a tissue moistened with boiled then cooled water. Do not clean inside the eye lids. Do not rub your eye. Do not get water in your eye. The eye will be red, irritated and watery for several weeks but will settle. You may need to wear sunglasses outside.
