Re: CHANGE OF PROCESS: HOW TO REFER PATIENTS TO WAIPUNA HOSPICE Recently, we have identified the need to review our referral process to ensure patient privacy and to provide a timely response for both the patient and the referrer. Consistent with best practice we will be moving to an exclusively electronic referral process. We will no longer be accepting faxed referrals as of the 16th December 2019. As of 11th December 2019, e-referral via your BPAC directory will be our preferred method of referral. If your practice is currently not using the BPAC directory please contact us directly and we will provide you with an alternative electronic referral option. Referrals are typically processed within 3 working days. Urgent Referrals: An urgent referral will require a phone call in addition to your e-referral so that we can action our team appropriately. Urgent In-Hours: Mon-Fri 0800-1630pm. You can contact the referral team on (07) 5524380 Ext 257 or 027 585 2496. Urgent Out-of-Hours: Please Phone Waipuna Hospice on (07) 5524380 and ask to speak to the on-call Medical Officer.
