We offer a range of bespoke and general training packages to suit the needs and values of individuals and organisations. Our training offer covers:

YMCA is a transformational organisation that has a passion to build strong people, strong families and strong communities. We deliver a diverse range of projects and services to meet the needs of our customers. Our services include Drug and Alcohol projects for adults and young people, Foyer Housing, a nursery and our charity shop, as well as youth services and support for older people. Wolverhampton YMCA has a well established history of delivering training and capacity building projects and we have developed and expanded our training offer in order to re-launch our new Training and Development service. All of our training courses are delivered by our friendly and enthusiastic team who are experts in understanding the needs of your learners and will work with you to develop tailor-made packages that suit the requirements of your staff and organisation.

Course Code: BM1 Duration: 1-2-1 (1 hour) tuition sessions

This course covers: Awareness of effects, risks and consequences of alcohol use. Understanding units of alcohol and varying alcohol strengths. Keeping safe around alcohol and resisting peer pressure.

These sessions enable participants to explore a business idea, find out if running a business is for them and if the business idea is worth further exploration.

These courses are the ultimate in flexibility! Courses can be delivered from a half day to 2 days – depending on your level of need and circumstances. You can opt for our standard delivery package, or upgrade to our bespoke service, tailored to address specific issues your organisation may be facing, including drug policy advice and development.

This practical course covers everything you need to know about how to write an effective C.V and be taken seriously by employers. Suitable for everyone including those starting out in their first job, experienced employees, people made redundant, returners to the workplace.

NCFE Level 1 Award in Substance Misuse Awareness (Accredited) Course Code: DTA2 Duration: Two Day Course This course provides learners with a Nationally Recognised Qualification, an introductory level of knowledge about substances and varied progression routes. The course may support a professional learning and development need, or a personal interest in the subject matter.

C.V.s and Job Applications Course Code: ES2 Duration: Half Day (fast track) or Full Day Course options This workshop provides a quick and easy route to writing C.V.s and completing job applications. Take this course to learn to think like an employer and get your name on the job interview shortlist.

Job Interview Skills Course Code: ES3 Duration: Half Day or Full Day Course options Learn how to ‘think like an interviewer’, develop your confidence and prepare and practice questions for interview success.

PowerPoint for Job Interviews and Presentations Course Code: ES4 Duration: 1-2-1 (1 hour) tuition sessions These PowerPoint sessions usually run on an appointment basis at our Temple Street offices. However, we are happy to visit you to deliver the package on your own computer or using one of our laptop computers. The sessions aim to provide people who have some computer skills with an introduction to PowerPoint - usually just one session would enable a participant to produce a basic PowerPoint presentation that could be used successfully at a job interview. Additionally, this course is beneficial for people facing presentations and public speaking.

This course covers the essential aspects of COSHH, including how to apply and record COSHH essentials. Develop practical, straightforward and cost effective ways to approach COSHH in your organisation.

Electrical Safety Course Code: HS2 Duration: Half Day Course This practical workshop covers the basics of electrical safety, including how to check for signs of faults and wear and tear. Straightforward and practical tasks guide you through the basics.

Fire Safety Course Code: HS3 Duration: Half Day Course This course gives participants an opportunity to see and use fire extinguishers (optional) and to be aware of how fires start and spread. Aimed at all levels of staff this practical course provides an overview of fire safety procedures including legislation, basic principles of fire and prevention, fire plans and emergency evacuation procedures.

Design and Marketing for Groups and Organisations Course Code: SW3 Duration: Full Day Course Developed to meet the needs of smaller organisations, our popular Design and Marketing workshop includes an introduction to basic visual language, design and critical skills, the basic principles of marketing, and developing a marketing strategy.

Leadership and Management

This informative course provides an introduction to the core elements of health and safety in the workplace - fire, first aid, risk assessment, and manual handling. All of the essentials are covered to meet the needs of your organisation.

Complementary Therapies

Course Code: SA1 Duration: Half Day or Full Day Course Options This course looks at the signs and symptoms of substance use and addresses some of the myths surrounding the subject. Additionally, we look at how to engage young people in talking about drugs/alcohol as well as how to deal with conflict.

Complementary Therapy can assist in reducing stress and anxiety levels caused by work related pressure and tension. At Wolverhampton YMCA we offer a variety of complementary therapies that will provide you with a natural way of feeling refreshed, rejuvenated and revitalised. Our range of treatments includes Aromatherapy, Bach Flower Remedies, Chair Therapy, Indian Head Massage and Reflexology.
