Come along to the City Museum and Westgate and discover Winchester’s fascinating history from its prehistoric past to the present day. Find out the stories behind the museums’ collections of amazing objects. Our exciting displays are all about learning and having fun at the same time. Our City Space gallery in the Discovery Centre shows an exciting programme of

Jubilation In the year of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, this small display features objects, souvenirs and photographs showing how the people of Winchester commemorated the diamond jubilee of Queen Victoria in 1897. Guildhall opening hours only.

Did this form of public transport have the lowest carbon ‘footprint’ ever? This exhibition will ask visitors to think about the most energy efficient way of getting from A to B. Free admission.

Winchester Photographic Society Annual Exhibition 2012 Winchester Photographic Society is one of the largest photographic clubs in the south and its annual exhibition attracts entries from not only its own membership but

Spot the Royal Crowns hidden around the City Museum. Win a small tasty prize if you spot them all.

Pop along to the City Museum and find out how the Victorians celebrated their Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in 1897. Make-and-take a pop up Jubilee card, suitable for age 6+. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Come along and find out how you could volunteer with Winchester Museums. You will find us alongside at least 30 other organisations seeking volunteers together with ‘One Big Table’, a multicultural event celebrating the cultural diversity of Winchester which includes food, live music and dance. Free event.

Creative Force This exhibition showcases work by some of the best arts practitioners in the Winchester area and includes insights into how they create work that is admired both here and abroad. Part of the Winchester Best of British Festival. Free entry.

Sporting Heroes This exciting summer exhibition celebrates our local sporting personalities past, present and future. Full of fascinating objects and inspiring stories, from the world of Ancient Greece to the dedication of our young sporting heroes of today. With plenty of fun activities and things to do, this family friendly exhibition has something for everyone. Free admission.

Drop in to the Discovery Centre for this free family activity and make your very own Ancient Olympics victory wreath to take away with you. All materials provided. Age 7+.

Visit our stall at this Bank Holiday event and try some of our hands-on activities, together with finds handling and replica period costume.

All children must be accompanied by an adult. Free activity.
