DOE HONORS WISCONSIN CLEAN CITIES Wisconsin Clean Cities (WCC) was recently honored by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). Representatives from nearly 100 Clean Cities coalitions from across the country gathered for the 2014 Clean Cities Coordinator Workshop held in Golden, Colorado December 9–11, 2014. In 2013, WCC reported nearly 12 million gallons of petroleum displacement and averted more than 55,000 tons of greenhouse gases through the deployment of alternative and renewable fuels, advanced vehicles, idle reduction and fuel economy improvements, a 144% increase compared to 2012. Contributing to this success was the Wisconsin Clean Transportation Program (WCTP), a four-year initiative aimed to significantly reduce petroleum consumption and emissions in Wisconsin. “The WCTP resulted in 19 private and 3 public alternative fueling or electric charging stations and deployed 377 vehicles on the roads of Wisconsin. The program displaced over 2.26 million gallons of petroleum between January 2010 and December 2013. These accomplishments also contributed to the National Clean Cities’ major milestone in 2013 of reducing U.S. petroleum consumption by one billion gallons in a single year for the first time ever,” stated Lorrie Lisek, Executive Director of WCC. ANNUAL MEETING & WISCONSIN SMART FLEET BANQUET RECAP Wisconsin Clean Cities, Inc. (WCC) hosted its 20th Annual Stakeholder Meeting on December 9, 2014 at Miller Park in Milwaukee. Over 100 attendees participated in the event which celebrated the efforts and accomplishments of its members and Wisconsin Fleets in moving toward the use of alternative fuels and cleaner air for Wisconsin. The meeting was followed by an evening banquet that recognized the success of the Wisconsin Smart Fleet (WSF) Program. The WSF program provides fleets with tools to meet their internal economic goals, reduce their carbon footprint through the implementation of alternative fuels and technologies, and to provide them with smart fleet branding. “We are proud to recognize our leaders throughout the state of Wisconsin. The accomplishments of the Wisconsin Clean Transportation Program served as a catalyst to the successes we honored today. Our new logo depicts our efforts as a statewide organization as we progress into a new decade,” stated Lorrie Lisek, Executive Director of WCC. Featured speakers at the event included Maria Redmond of the Wisconsin State Energy Office; Commissioner Ghassan Korban of the Department of Public Works; and George Stone, WCC Board Member. Congratulatory videos from Senator Ron Johnson and Senator Tammy Baldwin were also presented. To view photos from the event, please visit www.facebook.com/WisconsinCC.
