BREMER COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY MUSEUM – Waverly

BIKE TRAILS

The Museum has two floors of exhibits in the Waverly House, a structure erected in 1864 from the native timber and brick from a local kiln. The building served as an inn until the 1900’s when it housed the CaPhenin Chemical Company. In 1960 the Historical Society purchased the building for use as a museum. It was the first building in Waverly to be placed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Recreation trails are located in Denver, Plainfield, Readlyn and Waverly.

CENTER INN – Readlyn

Visit the Center Inn in Readlyn and enjoy great food, great service, great atmosphere and great prices! In 1983, the Center Inn served as backdrop for the film “Country” starring Jessica Lange. GEOCACHING – Waverly Area

Check out www.geocaching.com and enter 50677 for the zip code. There are more than 50 locations within 3.5 miles of Waverly in parks and recreation areas. Join in the new sport of using a GPS unit to find hidden boxes. OPERA HOUSE – Tripoli

Visit an original opera house, built in 1912, which was originally used for community entertainment. The building has undergone many changes over the years as it became a movie theater and then a bowling alley. In 1992 the building was restored and is now used as a banquet hall, dance hall and entertainment center in Tripoli. PALACE THEATRE – Waverly

See the Country’s newest movie releases at Waverly’s Palace Theatre. The tri-plex theatre offers the latest in cinematic technology and sound. READLYN HISTORICAL MUSEUM – Readlyn

The Readlyn Historical Society was established in June of 1994 for the purpose of preserving the history of Readlyn and the surrounding area. A collection of historical items from the area are on display. SCHOOL HOUSE MUSEUM – Tripoli

Travel back in time and visit a fully restored and furnished one room school house located in downtown Tripoli. SUNSET THEATRE – Sumner

Located in Sumner, the Sunset Theatre gives you a taste of the old style theatre houses with the latest technology. This newly renovated theatre is handicapped accessible and can comfortably seat 221 people. It also serves as a multi purpose theatre, being able to host live plays and musicals. SWEET MARSH – Tripoli

Sweet Marsh is a 2,000 acre state owned hunting, fishing and wildlife area within walking or biking distance from Tripoli. TRIBUTE TO VETERANS – Waverly

Waverly’s Tribute to Veterans is located at the corners of Bremer Avenue and 4th Street SW. The monuments, flags and engraved bricks help honor and recognize the sacrifices of those who have served or are currently serving in the Armed Forces of our Country.
