These are participating ninth grade students who wrote magazine articles for a created performance task which is used as an introduction to the type of writing required for the course. This first performance task requires students to write one to five - five paragraph article(s) in which they discuss the Location, Economy, Government, Achievements and/or Leaders of either the Sumerian, Persian, Mesopotamian, Babylonian, Chaldean, Assyrian or Hebrew cultures. Students are required to generate questions that they respond to in their articles, provide pictures and reference their sources. Sources include at least one book, encyclopedia and website.
