ABOUT THE COMPOSER Hunter Gregory, born September 28th 1995, is a young and emerging composer and musician. He is a native of Nashville, TN and has been composing since age 10. He received his Bachelor of Music in Composition from Houghton College after studying with Dr. David Davies and Dr. Carrie Magin and will earn his Masters in Music Theory and Composition at West Chester University of PA with Dr. Robert Maggio, Dr. Adam Silverman and Dr. Jacob Cooper. He has written for numerous ensembles, but most frequently for choir. He is an active composer and performer, and his compositions have been commissioned by middle schools, high schools, and universities across the country. He is a winner of the Donald Sinta Saxophone Quartet Composition Competition and has been performed by the Donald Sinta Saxophone Quartet as a part of a new music concert at the Kerrytown Concert House in Ann Arbor, Michigan. As a performer, he has toured with numerous ensembles, including the Houghton Symphonic Winds, Houghton College Choir, and Houghton College Saxophone Quartet. In addition to saxophone and choral ensembles, Hunter is a regularly performing bassist with various groups. Hunter is also an associate and friend of the twotime-Grammy-award-winning choir, The Crossing, based in Philadelphia, PA. ABOUT THE SOLOIST Zach Prowse is a fifth year student at West Chester University studying Music Education and Music Performance on trumpet. Zach began his musical journey on the trumpet in fourth grade and has played continuously since then for 13 years. He has always been passionate about music in his life as long as he can remember. His primary trumpet teachers have been Mr. Bill Perbetsky, Mr. Mark Kothe, and at WCU, Dr. Jean-Christophe Dobrzelewski and Professor Robert Skoniczin. During his time at WCU, Zach has held principal trumpet positions in the Wind Symphony and Wind Ensemble, as well as lead trumpet positions in the Statesmen Jazz Ensemble, Criterions Jazz Ensemble, and the Golden Rams Marching Band. Aside from these groups at WCU, he has also performed in various groups throughout Pennsylvania, including the Liberty Wind Symphony, Galena Brass, the West Chester Swing Kings, and The Brassy Boys. Zach has participated in masterclasses led by Ryan Gardner, Phil Snedecor, and Doc Severinsen. He will appear on the WCU Wind Ensemble CDs Second Thoughts, Blessings Flow, and Ritmico. Next to his trumpet playing, Zach is extremely passionate about teaching. He has taught as a staff member at Susquehanna Township High School and Spring-Ford Area High School, and has had the privilege to learn from many great Pennsylvania teachers such as Seth Jones, Scott Cullen, and Bob Carpency. Zach hopes one day to either teach at the collegiate level, or start children on their own musical journeys as an elementary band teacher.
