About the Composer Nathan Hansen is a composer and trombonist from New Jersey. While studying composition, he has written for the HOCKET Ensemble, Naked Eye, Lyric Fest, the WCU Criterions, and others. Having an enthusiasm for computer music and programming, he has provided assets and programmed on several video game projects and has created an algorithmic music webapp during a period of university-funded student research. Nathan is inspired creatively by patterns and phenomenon naturally occurring in nature, as well as the ordinary, mundane everyday objects we take for granted.
Nathan is an advocate for improvisation and the creation of new music. He hopes that in the future he may direct and perform in an ensemble dedicated to commissioning and performing new works. Kitchen Sink is a student-run band of composers, improvisors, and other likeminded musicians formed by Nathan dedicated to fulfilling this purpose at the Wells School of Music. He and the band members hope you enjoy the performance.
