Did you know…? Our hotel witnessed the foundation of the fabian society
The Fabian Society is Britain’s oldest political think tank. Founded in 1884, the Society is at the forefront of developing political ideas and public policy on the left. The area the Meliá White House now occupies was the initial headquarter of this important institution which has been characterised by a commitment to social justice and a belief in the progressive improvement of society. It has always maintained a diversity of opinions, motivated by the desire to stimulate debate rather than to promote a particular political "line". Since its foundation, the Fabian Society has been a home for some of the most important thinkers on the left. Find this blue plaque by the current staff entrance
