Did you know…? OUR HOTEL STILL PRESERVES ITS ORIGINAL CHARM An Art Deco building considered part of England’s architectural heritage
The hotel’s building still preserves its architectural value as a prime example of late 1930s art deco style. It is a Grade II listed building, meaning it has a special architectural or historic interest and is considered of national importance and is therefore worth protecting. A listed building is actually added to a list: the National Heritage List. This list is an online searchable database of designated heritage assets; similar to the collated version of the record of World Heritage Sites held by UNESCO. This status means there are extra controls over what changes can be made to a building's interior and exterior. In the Melia White House’s case for instance, windows cannot be replaced with any design and no changes can be made to the façade without special permission.
