Disease
Damping off of Chillies
Damping off is very common disease in nurseries. The disease appears immediately after the onset of monsoon rains. Seed may rot or the seedlings may be killed before they emerge from the soil. Stem of young seedlings may also be attacked after emergence showing water soaking lesions and shriveling of stem which fall over and die. In nursery the disease may appear in patches in 2-4 days, the entire lot of seedling may be destroyed.
Disease
Damping off of Cabbage The disease causes severe damage in the nursery. Cool, cloudy weather, high humidity, wet soils, compacted soil, and overcrowding especially favor development of damping-off. Dampingoff kills seedlings before or soon after they emerge. Infection before seedling emergence results in poor germination. If the decay is after seedlings emergence, they fall over or die which is referred to as "damp-off." The destructiveness of the disease depends on the amount of pathogen in the soil and on environmental conditions.
Disease
Damping off of Tomato Healthy young tomato plants infected by damping-off disease look pinched or cut off at the base of the stem. They wilt, droop over, wither away, and die. A white mold-like growth may appear on the soil surface and on the dead plants. seeds rot in the soil or seedlings decay before they push through the soil. seedlings sprout, but then pale, curl, wilt, or collapse at the soil line. The stem is water-soaked and turns gray, brown or black before disintegrating.
