Recording Techniques (Ages 12-15)

In Recording Techniques, students will learn about Analog and Digital Recording techniques used throughout history. Using a Digital Audio Workstation (DAW), students will learn step-by-step methods and creative problem-solving techniques to record live audio and create an authentic, unique sound.

Scenic Painting (Ages 8-11)

Scenic painting gives backdrops and flat scenery depth and perspective. This class explores one of the oldest theatrical techniques: faux painting. Using this technique, students create stone, brick, and wood grain textures while practicing color theory. Students will also learn basic brushstrokes after stretching their very own canvas flat!

Stage Combat (Ages 12-15)

A slap to the face, a fall down some stairs, an epic 15-person battle complete with swords and axes... These are all examples of stage combat! This fun introductory class will cover the acts of conflict, danger, and defense performed for entertainment on stage or film. Using props and safe instructional methods, students will learn to execute various stage combat moves to tell a story as effectively as dance choreography, set design, or costuming.

Time: 1 – 4 p.m.

Theatrical Makeup Design (Ages 12-15)

This beginning level class is recommended for students who want to learn special effects techniques with makeup. Students get first-hand experience with the following types of makeup: basic stage, old age, gore (such as black eye, bruise, bullet wound, accident wounds, and zombies), and fantasy. Participants are encouraged to design and execute original effects based on their interests and skill levels.
