GET READY, GET UP, AND GO ALL OUT AS WE CELEBRATE OUR TALENTED STUDENTS DURING THIS UNFORGETTABLE EVENING OF LIVELY MUSIC, DANCE, AND ARTISTRY!
A MESSAGE FROM RALPH S. OPACIC, ED.D. Welcome everyone! Thank you for joining us at Orange County School of the Arts’ Gala 2019: “Let’s Get Loud!” We are thrilled to welcome you to this captivating evening of celebration, inspired by the sounds and movement of rumba, Latin pop, reggaetón, and more. In just a few moments, our talented students will take the stage to wow you with an energetic three-act production, featuring lively music from genres such as Latin jazz, Mexican-American rock, salsa, and Broadway, to name a few. We invite you to immerse yourself in this compelling experience while you dine on three courses of tempting Latin-fusion cuisine and enjoy the exciting culmination of our inspirational Silent and Live Auctions! As we celebrate yet another remarkable Gala, I cannot help but reflect upon the past 32 years, in which I have had the privilege of witnessing the hard work, ambition, and talent of countless OCSA students. From our early days as an after-school arts program, to now serving nearly 2,200 students across 15 arts conservatories, I have felt incredibly proud to be surrounded by such astounding levels of dedication and artistry each and every step of the way. It is because of individuals like you that thousands of young artists have been able to walk through our doors and reach their highest potential. We rely on the OCSA community to help make our students’ dreams come true, and tonight, I would like to thank you all for your unwavering support of those bold, courageous dreams. I must take this opportunity to extend my heartfelt gratitude to our Gala 2019 Honorary Co-Chairs, Maureen and Mike Mekjian, for their dedication and generosity. Your partnership with OCSA over the past two decades has been pivotal to our growth and continued success. Additionally, this evening would not be possible without our corporate sponsors, who graciously devoted both their time and resources to help bring this year’s Gala to fruition. I also wish to express my deepest appreciation to all of this evening’s table sponsors, individual ticket attendees, and performance underwriters. Your willingness to give makes a positive and lasting impact on the lives of our bright and talented young artists. Lastly, I would like to recognize our dedicated army of parents and volunteers. It is because of your ongoing contributions that our students can excel and enjoy extraordinary academic and arts programs. Your passion for and commitment to our school is truly humbling. Now, our amazing student performers are ready to impress you with a phenomenal show. Let’s get ready, get dancing, and get loud! All good things,
Ralph S. Opacic, Ed.D. Founder and Executive Director Orange County School of the Arts
A MESSAGE FROM KEVIN TIBER Good evening, everyone! I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for being a part of our annual Gala. I know the students, and everyone involved with tonight’s event, have been working incredibly hard to bring you a spectacular show, and I cannot wait to see what’s in store for us! As a proud parent of an OCSA graduate, I can attest to the fantastic education that OCSA provides for its students, both academically and artistically. This school sparks their imagination, fuels their creativity, and gives them the tools they need to make their dreams a reality. The level of commitment our students show to their education, coupled with their passion and artistry, never ceases to amaze me, and this evening will surely be no exception. OCSA truly is a one-of-a-kind institution, changing the lives of many students who have the opportunity to hone their craft in such a motivating and nurturing environment. The inspiring young artists you see on stage tonight – as well as those working diligently behind the scenes – will go on to lead important and impactful careers in a diverse range of industries, contributing to our society in thoughtful, positive, and creative ways. Your devotion to OCSA is one of the driving forces behind the success of this school and each of its students – past, present, and future. By being here this evening and supporting these young minds, each and every one of us is making a profound impact on a child’s life. Collectively, we are shaping these students’ dreams and the future of our community. On behalf of the OCSA Foundation Board of Directors and the entire OCSA community, thank you for your continued and enthusiastic support of Orange County School of the Arts. I hope you all enjoy this spirited performance and wonderful evening in celebration of OCSA! With gratitude,
Kevin Tiber Chairman, Foundation Board of Directors Orange County School of the Arts
Honorary Co-Chairs On behalf of the bright and talented students of Orange County School of the Arts, we would like to thank the Gala 2019 Honorary Co-Chairs for their incredible support and leadership.
Maureen and Mike Mekjian
The Mekjians have remained dedicated to OCSA for many years, and we are eternally grateful for the generosity and enthusiasm they demonstrate toward our school and its artist scholars. Their partnership with OCSA allows us to continue providing our students with an excellent arts and academic education, in addition to unique opportunities that enrich their educational journey and inspire them to reach new heights.
