WINTER

PROLOGUE Woken up in the morning with a horrible hangover, not crealry understanding where im lying down or with whom I’m lying down, in my head it was incredably loud, like someone put a construction cord in my head and was fiddling with it in my brain... step by step concious was coming back to me and I started remembering last night, I was feeling shame, it was like frames from a video clip, someones faces and asses and vodka spilling from lips everywhere... light... and we are pinching someone, here we are standing on a rooftop together and shouting uncencored words... someone decided to pee from the rooftop and this made us all very happy, and we all in unison swing bottles (pretending to be pirates probably)

And here we come back to our room and continue to destroy alcoholic drinks. My friend comes out of the closet wrapped in a blanket with tiger’s skin, and he screams that he is the new year, that he is the 2010, and here we understand that in our magazine there is nothing about a tiger. We start to think what to do to include a tiger in our magazine. Someone says “let’s make photo project about a tiger hunter” like we will all be tiger hunters and will look for tigers in this magazine and posters which will flood the internet for 2 months or so, we laugh, and at last someone troughs crunched tiger blanket on the couch and makes a sexual act, and everyone, of course, is happy, some people join this act sreaming “3 sum 3 sum”, squirting this all with champagne. Remembering this all i look at a wall where in big fat letters it says “I fucked a tiger”... Crawling my way to the kitchen, where in a fridge, there is called mineral water, wich seems to me to be magical life water, the floor is covered with plastic cups and cigarette butts, fighting with stickiness which sticks to my heavy feet, i am like an icebreaker which is going to its aim... Like a captain going to a northern star... It was great I am happy that after those long days and nights we are launching our magazine, 25th of december, a good day to be born. Heavenly man will be spread on us like a sugar powder is spread on doughnuts. we are sweet.

It was a very cold night. I could feel the minus in the air, but nevertheless instead of sitting at my computer, browsing through websites, staring at the monitor and slowly sipping hot tea I was standing on the street. The first cold creeps on you when all the winter clothes are still stuffed away at the back of the closet, while you, despite the minus temperature taking its hold, are wearing a light autumn jacket. The moon lit the street like a searchlight on the mast of a boat. Buildings surrounded me, gigantic mute silhouettes vaguely resembling irregular squares with light saturating from some of them. I didn’t like it. I didn’t like the fact that somebody was awake at that hour, wrapped in light and warmth. I took my time breathing in the refreshing air of the frozen night, but it was the time that was running out, so I sat into my car and drove towards the forest. It was quiet and peaceful in the forest. No path suitable for the car, so I got out, I had to continue on foot. I was looking into the darkness surrounding me, trying to see something there, trying to hear… On the way here I got a call informing me that two lions (or were they tigers?) escaped from the zoo eating two security guards on the way. Of course, the story much resembled a tale, a city legend of a sort, but nevertheless it raised the level of adrenaline in my blood.

After a short walk, the trees separated and I stepped on to a lit meadow. Under this faint pale light, we all got together, just like a pack of wolves about to start howling at the moon. It looked like some ancient ritual, though instead of candles we had lamps, each bore their own, dissolving the surrounding darkness. Each lamp designated a person and the wires coming out of the lamps created a connection with others, fusing in some sort of central energy.

REED + RADER We are Pamela and Matthew and we’re 26 years old. We live in Brooklyn, NY now but are both originally from small farm town America. Originally, we met about seven years ago while going to school at the Art Institute in Pittsburgh, PA then we transferred together to The School of Visual Arts in New York to finish our education. Essentially we are huge nerds with four cats (Essy, Xanadu, FiFi, Brother), and with a mountainous collection of stuffed animals. Photography, video, animation, illustration, installation, graphic and 3D design – our digital art is a blur of all of these. While we are formally trained as photographers it just feels familiar in today’s multitasking world that as technology continues to consolidate so do the arts. Despite living in and obsessing over a digital world we still very much prefer that our projects have a tangible element to them and to do things for real if at all possible. This ranges from physically building props and sets to actually cutting things out and “collaging” them with paint, pencil, and paste. The scenarios our work presents may exist in some imaginative beyond reality but are rooted with a playful sort of traditional naivety. www.reedandrader.com

ORGANIC TOYS DAVID MACHAVARIANI

Not very far in the future, when genetic engineering of new living organisms is not merely a science fiction but a science fact, a person will be able to purchase these organic “commodities for his/her convenience/entertainment. The characters in this compilation represent the combination of such knowledge/power and the perversity of human mind. Hence, these images act as prototypes of futuristic sex toys. dattosmail@gmail.com

OSWALD 1848 NICOLE ROSCHER

The Label von Bardonitz was launched in 2007. It rests an eventful family history and today finds its home in Berlin in the work of the baron´s greatgranddaughter. In the close alliance of interrelated epochs, tradition and juvenility find their expression both in shape and language.

Von Bardonitz works with classic gentlemen’s cuts and transfers them onto all existing genders to arrive at its unique unisex look. Traditional shapes are returned to their geometrical elements and are then reshaped again.
