We would be delighted if you called to see us, in Liverpool or elsewhere.
This is a very special year, marking the 50th anniversary of Red Rum's first Grand National triumph
recognition of which is incorporated within our specially designed trophy, which will be awarded to the winner of the world's greatest race on Saturday.
We do hope you enjoy your day here at Aintree and continue to make the most of life's opportunities. We would all do well to follow Red Rum's example – maintaining our health and condition to win, win and win again!
Dr Peter Fitzgerald CBE FREng DL, Randox Managing DirectorHello and welcome to day two of the Randox Grand National Festival 2023 – the always highly-anticipated Ladies Day!
We were treated to some incredible racing yesterday on Opening Day and there is so much more to come both on and off the track. Today promises to bring more fantastic action and is jam-packed with music, entertainment and of course our annual Style Awards.
Ladies Day is a much-loved occasion by many, and we're so glad that you're all here with us to mark this iconic feature of the meeting. We're delighted to be partnering with fashion brand Quiz for this year's event and can't wait to see what is sure to be a celebration of colours and fabric taking over the racecourse Quiz joins House of Cavani, which is an Official Partner of The Jockey Club
To enter this year's Style Awards, all you have to do is be photographed by one of our official team at one of the flower walls, enter your details into a form and that's it – you could be on your way to being selected as a finalist for the competition. Entries open at 10.30am and close at 2.20pm. Good luck!
It was also great to once again host our annual Jockey's Visit to Alder Hey Children's Hospital this morning. Riders, some of whom are busy preparing for tomorrow's big race, very kindly took time out of their schedules to go along to the Hospital, where they were also joined by the 2012 Grand National winner Neptune Collonges. We're very proud of our ongoing partnership with Alder Hey and know how much this visit means to them all, so we'd like to thank all of those who went along.
The quality of racing we saw yesterday was second-to-none and the theme continues today with seven cracking races on the card, the first getting underway at 1.45pm and the last at 5.15pm.
As always, our thanks go out to all of those who are supporting racing today, including our event partners Randox. William Hill, Poundland, the Air Charter Service, Abersoch Land and Sea and House of Cavani are also all sponsoring races today and we wish them a wonderful time with us.
Make sure you stick around after racing to see Radio DJ Adele Roberts, who will be performing a live set from the Red Rum Garden, so you can keep the festivities going. We're so excited to have Adele with us today and know she'll be putting on an unforgettable show.
These three days are undoubtedly the jewel in the crown of our year here at Aintree, and tomorrow we will be doing it all over again with the biggest race of them all – the 2023 Randox Grand National. Until then we bid you all an unforgettable day.

RETRAINING OF RACEHORSES
DON'T MISS THE PARADE OF FORMER RACEHORSES
12.30 - 12.45pm
THIS AFTERNOON IN THE PARADE RING!
A parade of retired racehorses takes place in the paddock from 12.30pm to 12.45pm, the parade showcases the versatility of the thoroughbred together with the range of activities open to racehorses when they finish their racing careers, thanks to the work of Retraining of Racehorses (RoR).
Today's parade features a host of familiar names who have adapted to a new career, including former Aintree regular Highland Lodge and Aintree Foxhunter's winner Top Wood.
Retraining of Racehorses (RoR) is British Horseracing's official charity for the welfare of horses that have retired from racing.
Retraining of Racehorses (RoR) is British Horseracing's official charity for the welfare of horses that have retired from racing. The charity's four core roles and responsibilities can be summarised as follows, RoR:
• Creates a demand for former racehorses through opportunities to participate and compete in a range of equine disciplines and therapeutic activities;
• Educates owners and riders who take responsibility for former racehorses;
• Facilitates the transition to a second career for horses leaving racing; and
• Protects the welfare of former racehorses, in particular those in need of charitable support and care.
RoR annually stages over 40 separate competition series across 15 different disciplines, catering for all levels of ability, from grassroots to elite. The disciplines include dressage, showing, polo, eventing, show jumping, endurance, hunting and horse ball.

14-year-old by Definite Article, formerly trained by Brian Ellison Breeder – Phil & Julie Martin
Since retiring from racing after running in the 2021 Grand National Definitly Red has took part in a variety of disciplines such as showing, show jumping, hunter trails and the occasional day trail hunting. Highlights from 2022 where Malton show were Definitly Red took part in all three RoR classes finishing the day as reserve champion. Our hopes for 2023 are to qualify for the RoR championships at Aintree
15-year-old by Presenting, formerly trained by Nicky Richards
Breeder – Keith Douglas
Duke of Navan was one of the flag bearing northern horses for a few good years for trainer Nicky Richards for owners David and Nicky Robinson.
Duke of Navan was broken in by jockey Brian Harding who also rode him on the racetrack, He was a yard favourite, and he was Nicky's ride towards the end of his training.
He has gone full circle and is now living the good life with Brian's wife Kelly who has taken him to many fun rides, camps and he's been hunting all winter He won his first RoR show in hand. He is ridden over the fells regularly and he will be aimed at the RoR classes in the summer
Kelly says, "He is adored by all of us, and Duke of Navan still gets visits from all who have been involved with him from the beginning"
14-year-old mare by Piccolo, formerly trained by Kevin Ryan
Breeder - Guy Reed
Early Shirley has been extremely rewarding to retrain and she has risen to every challenge presented to her embracing her second chance she is successfully competing at British Showjumping and FEI competitions both in the UK and abroad. Early Shirley is a little mare with a huge heart, she always wants to please every time she steps in the ring.
Claudia Jones says, "I think former racehorses are misunderstood and all too often dismissed too quickly but retaining one has proving to me how versatile they are. If you are willing to put the effort in the rewards are amazing. Early Shirley has been my horse of a lifetime and has helped me achieve things I only ever dreamt of I will be forever grateful to her"
17-year-old by Flemensfirth, formerly trained by Jimmy Moffott
Breeder – Ms Margaret Treacy
Highland Lodge became an Aintree favourite, running eight times at the track, most notably winning the 2015 running of the Becher Chase over the Grand National fences. He was retired after running in the 2019 edition of the Topham Trophy and went to today's rider Paul Thompson. The pair have since taken up team chasing with Team Rideaway quickly graduating to compete with success in Open level classes. They also much enjoy their days out hunting.
5. NET DE TREVE – ridden by Laura Gibson
10-year-old by Network, formerly trained by Tom George Breeder – Patrick Joubert & S C Ecurie Couderc
Net De Treve last race was in November 2019, he joined Sally Hayward in December 2019.
Since then, he has provided endless entertainment with his quirky ways and dramatic personality.
Despite this, he shows a real talent for dressage and eventing. He won the British Eventing 100 RoR Championships last year and won the Novice Dressage at the British Dressage Area Festival here at the Aintree Equestrian centre last January
The plan is to keep producing him up the levels in both disciplines.
8-year-old gelding by Canford Cliffs, formerly trained by Henry Tett Breeder - Denis McDonnell
An Injury in 2018 ended Peveril Point's racing career after just two starts. He was then bought by Jude Worthington to retrain in Horseball for today's rider and her husband, David. Perveril Point and David are currently competing in Pro Elite Horseball. They are playing in the champions league in October with the "OutGunned" team representing GB.
Perveril Point is proving to be a multi-talented former racehorse, as he is also training in dressage and hunts occasionally with Jude
9-year-old gelding by Zoffany, formerly trained by Michael Appleby
Breeder - Jusoor Syndicate
Touch Of Faith was retired from racing after three unsuccessful starts on the flat in 2017 Today's pilot Jude Worthington has taken over the ride from husband David who competed on Touch of Faith at pro elite level in Horseball. He is now ridden by Jude in the ladies' league and second division. Jude has previously been a member of the Open Championship winning team in both ladies and Pro Elite as well as previously training and competing with Team GB in the under 21 categories.
13-year-old by Golden Tornado, formerly trained by Nicky Richards
Breeder - James Murray
The career highlight for Takingrisks was victory in the 2019 Coral Scottish Grand National when ridden by Sean Quinlan. He is now happily retired with Catherine Walton in Northumberland, where Catherine runs a pre-training and breaking yard Over the winter Takingrisks has enjoyed regular hunting with local packs and is the perfect lead horse for young horses and breakers. He has been to an RoR clinic and a two-day camp which we both really enjoyed. This summer we are hoping to attend similar events, the long-term plan is to try some eventing.
16-year-old by Kotky Bleu, formerly trained by Kelly Morgan
Breeder – Francois Couvreur
On retiring from racing in 2020 Top Wood's owner Sir Johnny Weatherby gifted the horse to his trainer Kelly Morgan. After some down time, Top Wood enjoyed being hacked around the Leicestershire countryside, visited several of the local pubs in the way, he has also followed Belvoir hounds, which he found very exciting. This led to him finding today's rider Jasean, who has been producing him to further his second career in the show ring. The plan is to do some more RoR showing in the summer and qualify for The Jockey Club RoR National Championships at Aintree in August 2023.
13-year-old by Walk In The Park, formerly trained by Robert Walford
Breeder – Alain Jollivet & Mme Celine Lefevre
Walk in the Mill, or Miller as he is known to his friends, went back to his owner Dido Harding two years ago when he retired. He is stabled near Wedmore in Somerset and looked after by Sue Francis who has done pre training and retraining of racehorses for many years. Miller is quite a character, and it took a while for him to calm down after racing. To begin with he did a lot of gentle hacking and groundwork to help him learn to relax. Then he graduated to cantering on the beach and last year competed and was placed in hunter trials and arena eventing. Although their dressage is very much a work in progress, he and Dido are hoping to go eventing this summer Miller had an operation on his back a year ago which has been a big success, relieved a lot of pain and has enabled him to enjoy learning new skills with the same enthusiasm that he had when taking on the Aintree fences.
7. TOUCH OF FAITH – ridden by Jude Worthington 8. TAKINGRISKS – ridden by Catherine Walton 9. TOP WOOD – ridden by Jasean SpragattThe Randox Grand National Trophy is one of the most iconic and prestigious sporting trophies in the world of horse racing. From the start of the Randox sponsorship of the Grand National in 2017, Randox CEO Dr Peter FitzGerald proposed that a unique trophy would be designed and produced each year. The winning owner receives the full size the trophy, with the winning trainer, jockey and groom all receiving a miniature version.
Each trophy is uniquely Randox and has a story to tell. The design of the trophy has evolved over the years, but this year's trophy has a special significance as it incorporates several key elements that represent the company's values and achievements alongside a nod to a very special racehorse
At the top of the trophy, we see a beautifully crafted horse mid-jump, symbolising the 16 fences that the winner must pass on the four-mile, two-and-a-half-furlong distance to the finish line The horse is shown making its way over a horseshoe instead of a fence, representing protection and good luck for the winner who will claim it.
In the centre of the trophy, we see a gold blood drop, which is symbolic of Randox's Diagnostic testing. This leads up to the DNA Double helix, representing the company's genomic testing capabilities. Randox offers seven different types of genetic testing, empowering people to find out more about their future health.
The base of the trophy features a molecular pattern, representing Randox's molecular testing capabilities. The "o" in Randox is embellished with red enamel, symbolising accuracy and precision, which are integral to the Randox brand. The red enamel is also representative of a blood drop, which is used in a lot of Randox's diagnostic testing.
Etched along the bottom of the trophy, we have "Celebrating the 50th anniversary of Red Rum winning his first Grand National race," paying tribute to the legendary racehorse's victory in the Grand National. The 4 silver strands that connect the top and bottom of the trophy represent Randox's support of racing and sponsorship of the Grand National.
Designer, Randox's Elizabeth Moran said, 'It was a wonderfully creative challenge to design this year's trophy, reflecting both this national, iconic sporting event and Randox's innovation within healthcare, and I think we got it just right' Silversmith Cara Murphy, who produced the trophy said, 'I am delighted with what we have achieved. This is a highly intricate trophy and was enjoyable to produce – the end result is a trophy to grace the podium and recognise the achievement of winning the world's greatest steeplechase'.
Overall, the Randox Grand National Trophy is a beautiful and intricate work of art that embodies the company's commitment to innovation, accuracy, and precision in the field of diagnostic testing. The horse, the horseshoe, and the nod to Red Rum all come together to create a stunning and symbolic celebration of Racing.
To view this years trophy as well as trophies from previous Randox Grand Nationals, visit the trophy marquee next to the Red Rum Garden during your visit to Aintree

Visit the Parade Ring around 20 minutes before each race This is your chance to see the horses up-close Look for signs of their fitness and attitude A glossy coat, pricked ears and alert nature are considered good.
Watch at least one race by the railings, as close to the finishing post as you can get.
Jump horses are generally sturdier and bigger than Flat horses. Key attributes are endurance and strength.
Flat horses are lighter and more elegant for shorter, faster races. They use a different set of muscles, so muscle definition varies just like in human athletes.
On average, Jump horses race - or 'travel' - at 30mph.
Flat horses are faster at 35mph and the best exceed 40mph during a race

THE AIR CHARTER SERVICE MILDMAY NOVICES' STEEPLE CHASE (GRADE 1)
RACE DESCRIPTION
Named after the course the race is ran on, the Mildmay, this contest was first ran in 1981 A race for those who contested the Brown Advisory Novices' Chase (the Broadway) at the Cheltenham Festival, this test is ideal for those three mile chasers looking to gain more experience before taking the step into open company next season First ran as a Grade 1 in 2014, Might Bite and Chantry House have both completed the Cheltenham-Aintree double
Ahoy Senor proved his love for Aintree by thrashing this year's Gold Cup second Bravemansgame once again 12 months ago. This looked to be a matchup between the two at the top of the market, Bravemansgame and L'Homme Press, but Lucinda Russell had her horse primed for this and never looked like being caught after finding his rhythm out front. The quicker ground seemed to aid his cause, as he reversed the form on both market leaders with ease

Sarah Mary Brown is the first woman farrier to judge the Best Shod Award. Alongside shoeing horses, she is a successful competitor, a competition judge and an examiner who helps the UK farriery profession maintain its gold-standard reputation. The award will be judged in the Parade Ring before the Randox Health Foxhunters' Chase on Thursday, The Randox Health Topham Chase on Friday and Saturday's Randox Health Grand National.
Q. What is a farrier?
A. A farrier is a skilled person who trims and shoes horses' feet.
Q. What will you be looking for in judging this award?
A. Well shod feet with shoes that are fitted for purpose to carry the horse at speed. Well-balanced feet with good nailing and a crisp finish.
Q. Do the best shod horses win their races?
A. Not always, but good shoeing promotes and assists athletic potential; however, the horse must be capable and have individual potential, too.
Q. Can a horse run faster because of the skills in shoeing?
A. Shoeing skills add to the welfare of the horse and, while shoes don't increase speed, farriers do add to the many reasons why horses win races. 'No foot, no horse.'
Q. How often is a racehorse shod?
A. Around every 3 to 4 weeks.
Q. Can a horse run without shoes?
A. National hunt horses can run without shoes, but the rules of flat racing say that horses still have to be fully shod.
Q. What are racing shoes made from?
A. Steel or aluminium.
Q. Can racehorses wear plastic shoes?
A. Yes they can, although they are not so popular
Q. Can anyone shoe a horse?
A. No, in the UK you must hold the Diploma of the Worshipful Company of Farriers as a minimum qualification.
Q. How long does it take to become a farrier?
A. Three years and nine months.
Q. Is it a popular career for women?
A. Yes, and the number of women qualifying as farriers is increasing.
Q. Is it a dangerous job?
A. Yes, there are risks, as there are with many careers that involve working with animals.
Q. Who maintains the standards within the UK farriery profession?
A. The Worshipful Company of Farriers (www.wcf.org.uk)

RACE DESCRIPTION This two and a half mile handicap hurdle is always a competitive contest and is one of the only intermediate trip handicap hurdles where runners are almost guaranteed to get decent ground Many trainers target this due to the favourable conditions, with novices holding a particularly strong record thanks to the lateness it is staged in the season With a big field, horses with good tactical speed are able to excel.
Many people's banker of all the handicaps at last year's Cheltenham Festival, Langer Dan was brought down early in the Martin Pipe but gained rich compensation here Held up in rear, he made smooth headway into midfield on the inner and was always travelling powefully under Harry Skelton Switched right and leading to the last he fought out the finish with the Nicky Henderson-trained Fils D'oudairies and, the pair pulled a further eight lengths clear from stablemate Balco Coastal.

THE POUNDLAND TOP NOVICES' HURDLE RACE (GRADE 1)
A test of speed, this race was handed Grade 1 status in 2016 and often offers up another chance of spring festival glory to those who ran well in defeat in the Supreme Novice's Hurdle at Cheltenham Nicky Henderson boasts a fine record in the race and his winners include subsequent dual Champion Hurdle winner Buveur d'Air, who won this in 2016, and last year's winner Jonbon This two miles and half a furlong contest needs a novice who possesses plenty of speed
(GRADE 1)
RUN OVER TWO MILES, 103 YARDS 9 HURDLES
No match for superstar Constitution Hill in the Supreme, Jonbon headed to Aintree full of confidence and proved that Cheltenham had not took too much of a toll Nicky Henderson always leaves something up his sleeve to get the job done in this race and his horse pulled out all the stops to just prevail under Aidan Coleman. Irish-raider El Fabiolo enhanced this as arguably the best race on the second day, however, by not going down without a fight under Paul Townend to be narrowly denied by a neck

PLAY SMARTER
HULLNBACK was a fine second in a Grade 2 bumper at this meeting 12 months ago and made it 2 from 3 over hurdles when scoring in a good time at Warwick in February, so he’s the tentative selection in a very interesting renewal of this Grade 1. Inthepocket unquestionably sets the standard on his excellent fourth in the Supreme but there’s still a strong suspicion he’ll be seen in a better light when returning to further The unbeaten Altobelli, Found A Fifty and Luccia complete the shortlist.

Sam Waley-Cohen's achievements as an amateur jockey are unparalleled and his career ended on a perfect note when he won the 2022 Randox Grand National. Ben Cox caught up with Sam and his father Robert to discuss an unforgettable day and what the future holds...
If tasked with writing the script, few would dare. In the build-up to the 2022 Randox Grand National, Sam Waley-Cohen had announced that the 174th running of the world's greatest steeplechase would be his last race as a jockey Not since 1990 had an amateur rider won the race – when Marcus Armytage triumphed aboard Mr Frisk – and at 50-1, few gave Waley-Cohen's mount, Noble Yeats, much chance of repeating the feat. However, as the pair strode back into the winner's enclosure at Aintree Racecourse at around 5.30pm on Saturday 9 April 2022, the scene was fit for a Hollywood blockbuster with an ending verging on the ridiculous.
Except this was real life – the culmination of years of hard work, blood, sweat, tears, triumph, failure and everything in between. Noble Yeats had become the first seven-year-old to succeed in the Randox Grand National since Bogskar in 1940, while Waley-Cohen's name could be etched into the history books as the 42nd amateur jockey to win the race and the first of the 21st century
Waley-Cohen's own race riding statistics of 75 Jump winners under Rules in Great Britain, plus one on the Flat, one winner in France and over 100 point-to-point winners fail to accurately reflect his phenomenal achievements in the saddle Especially when you consider that those 75 UK Jump winners include four Grade Ones and a remarkable seven victories over the iconic Grand National fences at Aintree – a record many professional jockeys would swap their own for.
Waley-Cohen also retires with four victories at The Festival™, headed by Long Run's victory in the 2011 Cheltenham Gold Cup, horseracing's most prestigious contest. On the same horse, he claimed two victories in the Grade One King George VI Chase – making him the first amateur to succeed in Kempton Park's Boxing Day spectacular The combined achievements of Long Run and Noble Yeats also handed Waley-Cohen the unique statistic of being the only amateur jockey to ride winners of both the Cheltenham Gold Cup and Grand National.
So when Waley-Cohen zipped up his bag and walked out of the weighing room for the final time, it marked the end of an extraordinary career and one that he and his father Robert freely admit had begun 23 years ago, purely as ‘a bit of fun' Sam, whose first ride was as a 16-year-old in 1999, says: "We started out point-to-pointing to have a bit of fun, no more than that. I was always keen and dreamt of having a ride around the Grand National course and at the Cheltenham Festival, but my ambitions were never a whole lot more than that really."
After his famous Aintree victory earlier last year, Sam reflected on his amateur career and listed the However, he plans to maintain a close link with racing reasons he had not joined his weighing room and goes on: "I am still riding out and schooling with colleagues in the professional ranks. In the mornings, I just love horses and being out in the fresh air I want to make sure I stay in contact with racing, and of course, will still be talking all the time with my dad. It will be interesting to see what happens with Noble Yeats and if he can go and do it again in the Grand National.
"He is still a young horse, and hopefully, still has plenty left in him. We will look to the trainers to get the horses fit and use the best available jockeys – I won't be a backseat jockey! "I am also very interested in helping racing in any way I can and getting more young people into the sport. Racing has given me a lot and I would love to make a contribution and give something back."
While the 2022 Randox Grand National was certainly the perfectly timed crescendo that Sam Waley-Cohen's years in the saddle had built towards, there is no doubt we will continue to see him and his family on racecourses for many years to come

AS THE MELLING CHASE) (GRADE 1)
Another Grade 1 with a rich history, the Marsh Melling Chase was added to the racing calendar in 1991, with Grade 1 status handed for it's inaugural running. Named after the nearby village of Melling, situated on the famous Melling Road which crosses the racecourse, this is for many the feature race of the meeting. Another event over the intermediate trip of two miles and four furlongs, the likes of Don Cossack, Finian's Rainbow and Sprinter Sacre feature on the roll of honour
FAKIR
Back-to-back wins for JP McManus on Ladies Day for the second year running, Fakir d'Oudairies produced a fine display to land two renewals of this prestigious contest Following a gutsy win in the Betfair Chase at Ascot, he was odds-on for this and proved too strong for his opposition under Mark Walsh, to win a shade cosily, and land his fourth Grade 1 title Hitman looked the main danger but couldn't prevent the favourite from powering away over the last to eventually score by five and a half lengths.

Aintree seems to bring out the best in FAKIR D’OUDAIRIES and Joseph O’Brien’s 8-y-o can win this for the third successive season. Pic d’Orhy’s winning run came to an end when second in the Ascot Chase in February but he finished 7 lengths in front of the selection that day so rates a huge threat. Hitman was an excellent third in the Ryanair at Cheltenham last month and should be in the mix again having finished second in this last term.

HANDICAP)
The second of three races run over the famous Grand National fences, the Topham is staged over almost half the distance of the Randox Grand National Always Waining landed his race for three successive years from 2010 to 2012, with Ultragold winning back to back renewals in 2017 and 2018 This race is always a tough ask, so it's not a surprise to see that horses with plenty of previous experience over the fences fare the best in this premier handicap
Mac Tottie had a patchy record since landing the Grand Sefton in 2021 but back on the same mark he produced a phenomenal display to give Peter Bowen his fifth win in the race since 2007 Many viewers would have discounted him after dropping back through the pack, but Sean Bowen made his way through the field with promise to produce his challenge. A typical running of the race, there was still six or seven in with chances, but a good jump at the last sealed the deal, with Batcio and Annamix picked up the minor honours.

PLAY SMARTER
HAUT EN COULEURS produced another highly likeable display when fifth in the Plate and, as an assured jumper he strikes as the sort to take to these fences, so he makes the most appeal. Al Dancer and Ashtown Lad have both won here already this term and appear to have been laid out for a big run, so they head the numerous dangers in another fascinating renewal.

THE WINNERS WEAR CAVANI SEFTON NOVICES' HURDLE RACE (GRADE 1)
RACE DESCRIPTION This race is one for the stayers, with plenty of previous winners going on to achieve great things over longer trips and over fences First ran in 1988, the race rose through the Graded ranks to achieve Grade 1 status in 1995, with Morgan's Harbour becoming the first winner of the race as a Grade 1. Since then, racing royalty have won this, with Sir Anthony McCoy, Richard Johnson and Paul Carberry all riding winners. This is one race at the meeting where 'fresh' horses go well, so keep a keen eye open on the ones who didn't run at Cheltenham.
Going well in a pair of Grade 2 novice hurdles behind Blazing Khal, Gelino Bello put his experience and form to the fore to land this tricky contest. Paul Nicholls often keeps a strong hand for Aintree and had the Mr And Mrs J D Cottonowned gelding ready for this. Harry Cobden was keen to keep up with the pace and albeit edging right on the run-in stayed on soundly and pulled clear inside the final half a furlong. Gentleman At Arms finished second, with 100/1 shot Haute Estime claiming third in a well strung out field.

PLAY SMARTER
GREY DAWNING is going the right way and showed bundles of stamina when winning a Grade 2 at Warwick in January His shrewd handler will no doubt have targeted this event and he is taken to land the spoils. Absolute Notions will also appreciate this stiffer test of stamina and looks sure to make his presence felt, whilst sole mare Apple Away will be dangerous if let loose on the lead. Cheltenham Festival winners Stay Away Fay and Iroko also enter calculations in what looks a cracking contest.
TIMEFORM PREDICTION: 1.GREY DAWNING (IRE) 2.ABSOLUTE NOTIONS (IRE) 3.APPLE AWAY (IRE)
RACE DESCRIPTION A two mile handicap hurdle, this race has switched positions in the schedule to the final race on day two of the meeting, whereas previously it rounded out the meeting as the final race on Saturday A chance for the Amateur and Conditional riders to shine, the likes of Jamie Codd, David Mullins and David Bass have all won this previously. Always ran at a fast pace, hold up horses fare well in these kinds of races.
HACKER DES PLACES
A close finish in the last came down to Hacker Des Places and Severance, with the former coming out on top to give Paul Nicholls a double on the day. Arrived here after a good third in the Imperial Cup and off an unchanged mark under useful 5lb claimer Angus Cheleda, Hacker Des Places had plenty of concerns around him regarding the ground However he put the doubters to shame and travelled the best through the drying conditions to come out on top of the 16-strong field.
