Aquick wayto see a horse’s past performance. These are its recent finishing positions.
Look out for Letters:
C = Has won at this course
D = Has won over this distance
CD = Has won over this distance at this course
BF = Was a beaten favourite
MORE INFORMATION ON THE FORM
- = New racing season
/ = Missed racing season
P = Was pulled-up and didn’t finish the race
F = Horse fell
U = Rider unseated
R = Horse refused to race
CO = The horse was forced out of a race by a loose horse
B = Horse was brought down
S = Horse slipped
r = The horse ran around a jump or took the wrong course in a flat race
d = Disqualified
Bold form
figures = performance in all-weather (Flat) or Point-to-Point (Jump) races
How the experts rate the horse’s chances:
2. BHA rating = the higher the number, the better the horse.
3. Timeform view and TFR rating
Look out for the summary of leading course trainers before each race
Listen out for any jockeys who are having a successful day.
6. Owner’s colours worn by the Jockey
7. Saddlecloth number
8. Horse’s name
9. Days since the horse last run
10. Horse’s age
11. Jockey’s weight (stone and Ibs)
12. The horse’s breeding – father (sire) and mother (dam)
13. Horse’s owner
14. Horse’s breeder
15. Birthplace of horse (outside GB)
Select your horse. Note their name and saddlecloth number
Choose your bet. ‘To win’ or ‘each-way’ are popular types of bet.
‘To win’ is for your horse to come first.
‘Each-way’ is for your horse to come first or to be placed. It’s two bets, so ‘£2 each-way’ = £4 total bet.
Decide the amount – or stake – you are comfortable to bet.
Place your bet. There are different places to bet on course; The Tote, racecourse bookmakers, betting shop or online. Each option offers a different experience.
Collect. Once ‘Weighed-in’ has been announced, present your betting slip and collect any winnings.
12.40 - Barrie Wells Trust Box4Kids Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle Idem ran a good race last time out on his seasonal reappearance at Perth. He runs well on good ground and has every chance of winning here off top weight. Preference however is for the bottom weight in this race, Skyjack Hijack. There does not seem to be a whole lot of early pace in this race and the Jennie Candlish horse could potentially make all the running and steal a lead from the front. He has the benefit of a run at Perth where he was a 12-length winner last time out on good ground and there looks like there could be more to come from the 6-year-old.
13.15 - Jason Salleh Memorial Novices’ Limited Handicap Chase Petit Tonnerre was disappointing towards the later part of the season this year He runs off a mark of 125 which makes him look potentially well handicapped and is worth a market check. Densworth may be worth siding with on better ground conditions than last time here at Aintree He can make the running if needed and has previously put in some eye-catching performances over this distance. Parisencore looks like a consistent type. He steps down in trip today after two previous good runs at Perth over the past two months.
13:50 - Virgin Bet Old Roan Limited Handicap Chase Stage Star makes his seasonal reappearance and comes here off the back of getting a first-time wind-op He can make the running here and has previously run well fresh. The Paul Nicholls runner has to be respected off 163. Ahoy Senor has lots of talent but can be hit and miss. His jumping lets him down sometimes but it was impressive when finishing 2nd here in the Aintree Bowl in April. Minella Drama could be a danger at the weights and has to be in with a decent shout off 149.
14:25 - Virgin Bet Vieux Lion Rouge Veterans’ Handicap Chase Copperhead goes up 5lbs for his Veterans’ Handicap Chase win at Chepstow last time out. Good recent form can be the key to these Veterans’ Handicaps and Copperhead is not showing signs of regression yet. The ground should be fine for him, and he could be tough to beat. Fortescue found the Grade 3 company too competitive last time out at Sandown but should be more suited to today’s task and could run a big race if running to his Newbury form we saw in March.
15:00 - Virgin Bet Every Saturday Money Back Maiden Hurdle
Takt De Touques won his three bumper races at Perth and looks a solid choice on his hurdles debut. Emiyn looks an interesting selection, however He is rated 90 on the flat and finished an impressive 2nd place in the Chester Cup in May. A chance is taken that his talent on the flat will convert over to hurdles.
15:35 - Virgin Bet Daily Extra Places Handicap Hurdle Lavida Adiva makes her seasonal reappearance. She is lightly raced and runs consistently well. Got Grey looks interesting now stepping up in trip for Dan Skelton. A chance is taken that the 5-year-old can improve more for the extra trip and a mark of 116 looks feasible
16.08 - Racing TV Mares’ Open National Hunt Flat Race Claim Du Brizais makes her debut under rules for the Skelton yard. She finished 2nd in her point to point run in February and is likely to be a popular choice given the strong connections. Siog Geal was a 4 ½ length winner of an Irish point to point race in February and looks interesting for the Fergal O’ Brien team. Lets Mingle is worth a market check on debut for Lucinda Russell.

SKYJACK HIJACK and Lihyan are chasing hat-tricks and look the pair to focus on, with Jennie Candlish’s lightly-raced hurdler selected. He took a big step forward when making all at Perth last month, that performance suggesting there is even better to come. Lihyan has more miles on the clock but has built up a good strike rate since the spring and can go well again. The returning Chris Cool is another to consider

Jason was a much-admired member of staff at both Aintree and Haydock Park, regularly working on racedays in a variety of roles and will be sorely missed by friends and colleagues.
A huge enthusiast of horse racing and particularly the Grand National, he joined the Aintree Racemaker programme in its inception in 2014 and was later appointed as a Team Leader, such was his dedication and quality of customer service he brought to the role. He later went on to support at Haydock Park, often working near to the Parade Ring and Weighing Room as a regular friendly face to staff as well as Owners, Trainers and Jockeys.
To mark his recent passing, we have renamed today’s second race ‘The Jason Salleh Memorial Novices’ Limited Handicap Steeple Chase’ and welcome Jason’s family and partner Nicci as guests of the racecourse today.

Bindaree sadly passed away at the age of 30 last month. He emulated Red Rum as the oldest living National Winner and was a permanent fixture in the annual parades at Aintree.
At the age of eight, Bindaree etched his name into the history books by claiming victory in the 2002 Grand National by 1 3/4 lengths from What’s Up Boys.
This particular victory had a significant impact on the career of trainer Nigel Twiston-Davies who previously triumphed in this race with Earth Summit in 1998.
After finishing sixth in the 2003 Grand National, Bindaree secured what turned out to be the final victory of his career in the Welsh National later that year

We need your support!
Park Palace Ponies is a unique inner-city riding school in Liverpool’s Dingle area, offering local children the chance to learn to ride. This experience boosts confidence, mental wellbeing, and fosters a connection with animals. Our mission is to make riding accessible to all, regardless of background, and bring the benefits of equestrian education to the city.
In addition to riding lessons, we provide equine welfare and therapeutic sessions for children from Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, local schools, and vulnerable adults. Our volunteers find a welcoming space where they can connect and grow.
Now a registered charity, we need further funding to continue our work. Your support through donations, grants, or sponsorships would directly help us maintain our facilities, care for our ponies, and keep our programs accessible and affordable. KAMSINAS: Following its run on 17/4/2024 it was reported that the trainer could not explain the poor run.
Probable S.P’s: 3-1 Long Draw (IRE), 7-2 Kamsinas (FR), 8-1 Ballygeary (IRE), 11-1 Lavida Adiva (IRE), Got Grey (FR), 12-1 Cruz Control (FR), Bowenspark (IRE), 14-1 Hurricane Ali (IRE), 16-1 Arqoob (IRE)
Olly Murphy’s LONG DRAW ended last term with a fine second at Warwick and looks weighted to return in style here. The reappearing Kamsinas scored three times last season and rates the main danger with his yard going well, while Lavida Adiva and Got Grey both warrant plenty of respect too in this useful handicap
