DISTANCES
Although undoubtedly frustrating for his followers, CAPTAIN BIGGLES has shown lots of ability in finishing runner-up in each of his four hurdle starts to date and, with the help of a first-time tongue-tie, he could go one better today. Land Afar finished third in a very strong point-to-point event at Dromahane back in December 2019 and, despite the absence, he must enter calculations on his belated NH debut. Domandlouis wasn’t disgraced on his hurdling debut over 2m here and could reward each-way backers in this.
Win: Captain Biggles

Irish trainer Stuart Crawford looks to have a couple of big chances with Kingfisher Lane and Pat’s Pick, while Rowdy Rustler and Fabuleux Du Clos also warrant respect arriving here following solid placed efforts. However, narrow preference is for LIVELIFETOTHEMAX. He has improved in each of his three starts to date, splitting a couple of exciting prospects over C&D last time, and any further progression could see him break his maiden tag.

www.ayr-racecourse.co.uk CRACK DU NINIAN has looked a different proposition since switching to fences, winning on back-toback starts, including when hacking up at Hexham on his most recent outing. The six-year-old has only been raised 4lb for that latest win and, with further improvement a distinct possibility, he can prove a cut above his rivals. Ard Chros may give him most to do now dropping in class, while Ardera Cross has won four times at this course and cannot be discounted now returning to the larger obstacles.

Wakool arrives in great form after three wins from four starts this season, but an added 10lb from the handicapper for his latest win and a rise in class might make his life more difficult. Captain Zebo could go well despite top weight and could prove hard to catch if given a soft lead, but WOWSHAM wasn’t beaten far at Carlisle last time despite being slightly hampered. He may well make amends for that here under Brian Hughes.

Veteran performer CLAN LEGEND shoulders top weight in this handicap but looks well up to successfully conceding weight to these rivals on the evidence of his impressive last-start success at Aintree. Rath An Iuir is a fascinating contender because he lines up on a hat-trick but hasn’t been seen on the track for 399 days. Perhaps Theatre World, a Galway winner in October, is the main danger.

HORSE CARE AT AYR At every race meeting at Ayr there are three specially qualified equine vets appointed to look after the welfare of all horses in action. During a race two vets follow the action from the centre of the course and can attend a casualty in the same response time as the Medical Teams responsible for the welfare of the Jockeys. The third vet is based at the Stable Yard where a close check is kept on all horses especially those returning after a race. MEDIA COVERAGE & RECORDING FOR PROMOTIONAL PURPOSES All Attendees (which for the purposes of this clause also includes horses and for the avoidance of any doubt includes families with children) are reminded that many races and fixtures are given coverage on television, radio and in print and various other forms of media. By entering the Racecourse Attendees are accepting they may appear in such coverage which may also include printed or electronic material used for the promotion of the Racecourse. Accordingly, Attendees shall have no right to object to their inclusion in any much coverage whether produced by the Racecourse or by third parties authorised by the Racecourse. Furthermore by entering the Racecourse each Attendee consents to the passing of still or moving images of them to third parties authorised by the Racecourse for the purposes of the production of printed or electronic material to be used solely for the Promotion of the Racecourse. Each Attendee will give any additional consents or waivers required for the unrestricted lawful use of any coverage (if any) without request for payment or imposing any other conditions.

SMOKING Ayr Racecourse adheres to the government’s National No Smoking Policy. All indoor areas are No Smoking Zones. Those wishing to smoke may do so in the designated areas outside. USE OF SCREENS It is now standard practice for screens to be erected around any horse receiving veterinary attention on the ground. This does not reflecton the severity of an injury, but allows the vet some privacy and the horse the opportunity in a calm environment, in which to make a recovery. Please do not assume the worst if you see screens erected around a fallen horse! For equine care provided at Ayr see under officials at the back of this card.
