Welcome to Bangor-on-Dee Racecourse for Countryside Day. We’re thrilled to have you here for a fantastic high-class day of racing.

Racing begins today at 12.25pm with the Paul Ferguson Jumpers To Follow Handicap Steeple Chase. The feature race comes at 12.55pm with the Yorton Mares’ Novices’ Steeple Chase (Class 1, Listed) for The Richard Aston Trophy The race comes with a total prize pot of £40,000 and is run in memory of the late former chairman, Richard Aston. The Portek Limited 3-mile Handicap Chase follows at 1.25pm with an excellent ﬁeld with over £20,000 in prize money to the winner The day draws to a close at 4.05pm with the Overton Novices’ Hurdle Race.

As our race day name gives away, today we’re celebrating all things country So, you’ll ﬁnd a dog show before racing where you can enter your furry companions for the chance to win some fantastic prizes courtesy of Farm and Pet Place. You’ll be able to meet the hounds and understand more about trail hunting from our local hunt. Furthermore, there’s a Vintage Tractors display, a real treat for enthusiasts, showcasing a stunning collection of classic tractors.

HOW TO BET WITH A RACECOURSE BOOKMAKER

WAYS TO BET

STRAIGHT EACH WAY

Win only A bookmaker taking each way bets will display the terms on which he/she accepts such bets on the top of his/her board. This is a bet for your selection to win or be placed.

STANDARD TERMS FOR EACH WAY BETTING

In conjunction with The RCA, the bookmakers have introduced standard each-way terms. Bookmakers will provide these terms, or better, when offering each-way betting.

· Fewer than 5 runners – all to win

5-7 runners – 1/4 odds a place 1-2

· 8 or more runners – 1/5 odds a place 1-2-3

Handicaps with 12-15 runners – 1/4 odds a place 1-2-3

· Handicaps with 16 or more runners – 1/4 odds a place 1-2-3-4

AWAY BETTING

Many bookmakers will also take bets at the other race meetings today. They offer a comprehensive service, including bets settled TAX FREE at Starting Price (S.P.)

BETTING WITHOUT THE FAVOURITE

At reduced odds you can back a horse and collect if it wins or runs second to the horse nominated by the bookmaker as favourite.

PLACING YOUR BET

Shop around for the best odds against your selection. When you have decided on where to place your bet, state the number of your chosen horse and the stake, for example “number 4, £2 win”. Listen to the bookmaker repeat the number of the horse and the stake to his/her clerk and hand your stake to the bookmaker You will then be given an itemised receipt that gives details of the bet and shows potential winnings. You should keep this ticket safe.

COLLECTING YOUR WINNINGS

If your selection wins (or, in the case of a place bet, is placed), hand the ticket back to the bookmaker for settlement. NEVER destroy your ticket until after the “Weighed In” announcement has been made. There may still be a Stewards’ Enquiry and the first past the post, or placed horses, may be disqualified. On rare occasions even the horse coming fourth has been awarded the race You may bet with confidence with any bookmaker as they have all been approved by the Administration of Gambling on Tracks Ltd, which administers the betting rings at each of Britain’s 60 racecourses. BEST SELECTIONS ON THE DAY

Lord Of Cheshire struck on his chase debut at Fontwell last month and it would be no surprise to see him go close off only 2lb higher. However, JAGWAR may have been worth more than the winning margin suggests on his comeback at Wetherby so a 5lb rise might prove to be lenient With the likelihood of more to come on only his second start over fences, the lightly-raced ﬁve-year-old could be the one to beat. Lowry’s Bar completes the shortlist.

DANGER: LORD OF CHESHIRE

YOU WEAR IT WELL is a dual Grade 2 winner over hurdles and now makes her chasing bow Jamie Snowden’s seven-year-old, who landed the 2023 Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle at Cheltenham, was last seen finishing well beaten in the Mares’ Hurdle at this year’s Festival, but this is obviously a much easier assignment and she could put her rivals to the sword. Shecouldbeanything beat Space Tourist by five lengths at Clonmel and should confirm that superiority, while West Balboa is another to note.

Shan Blue ﬁnished a close-up third in a premier handicap at Ascot in February and the handicapper might have been kind to drop him 1lb for that performance. Even so, PULL AGAIN GREEN looks the more appealing option. Fergal O’Brien’s eight-year-old ﬁlled the runner-up spot in this grade at Chepstow last time and is a previous C&D winner If he can run to a similar level of form, he could prove hard to beat Celebre D’Allen is another to note after his fourth in the Topham at Aintree in April.

Stablemates Aotano and Jack The Boss are both respected following successful debuts, but the 7lb penalties they carry have to be a concern. With that in mind, preference is for French raider DO IT AGAIN, who is closely related to plenty of Flat winners and is likely to have been well schooled. Adaay Forever edges out Lautrec De Cougny and Global Hideaway to be best of the rest

JUNKER D’ALLIER created a big impression when winning well on his hurdling debut at Carlisle last month and Olly Murphy’s gelding is hard to oppose on the back of that performance. Joltin N Jiving scored between the ﬂags in Ireland earlier in the year and has to be of interest on his Rules bow Sole Solution and Old Time Chaser are others to note.

Gentleman Bill sets the standard of those with hurdling experience following his third at Carlisle last month. That said, the vote goes to DOCTOR KILDARE, who took a step forward from his debut when winning a bumper here in April and he may improve again now switched to obstacles. I’m A Lumberjack is another to consider on his ﬁrst outing over timber, while Oh My Johnny should not be underestimated.

Venetia Williams has a good record with French imports and, with that in mind, LEMONCELLO could be worth chancing on his UK debut A winner over fences when last seen in his homeland, this half-brother to the smart Saint Pair looks a bright prospect back over hurdles. The class-dropping Aston Martini also rates a player in this company, while Itsnoteasy warrants consideration debuting in a handicap from a workable mark.

BEAUFORT SCALE, who has proven stamina from facing stiffer tests in Ireland, appeals strongly back in novice company and is readily suggested as the one to be with. Stratford scorer Minella Rescue is far from the ﬁnished article and, unexposed over this trip under Rules, rates a serious threat to the selection. Carrig Kate wasn’t beaten far at Stratford last month and is another appealing option. Betting support for point-to-point winner Subtle Fortune would be noteworthy

The Betting Ring Managers Inspection Pitch is located in the Tattersalls Enclosure, (please see racecourse map). He will be available in each enclosure to assist in any betting dispute.

GENERAL

All badges, car park labels and hospitality packages are sold subject to these terms and conditions.

FORCE MAJEURE

1 The company shall not be liable to the racegoer for any failure or omission or breach caused by an event or events beyond the control of the company such as but not limited to war, civil disturbance, order of a Government Ministry or department or public authority, ﬁre, ﬂood, natural catastrophe, royal demise, labour dispute, lock-out, withdrawal of labour or breakdown or interruption of services or transport (public or otherwise) or death or illness of a key person.

1.1 Upon the happening of such an event the obligations of the company and any period of time then running shall be suspended for the period of the event plus such time as may be required to resume normality.

1.2 Such an event shall not entitle the racegoer to take any steps against the company for breach or to terminate the agreement or otherwise

PRIOR TO THE COMMENCEMENT OF THE RACEMEETING

2 Where badges, car park labels or hospitality packages are sold for a specified area of the Racecourse, the Company will use its best endeavours to ensure that the specified area is available for use at the specified time If however the specified area cannot be used, for reasons not within the control of the Company, then the Company shall be entitled to offer a reasonable alternative. If no alternative is offered by the Company the customer will be entitled to a full refund of all monies received from him or her by the Company.

3 Refunds, other than those covered by clause 2 immediately above will not be considered unless badges/labels are returned to the racecourse, not less than 7 days prior to the race meeting and successfully resold. All refunds will be subject to an administration charge of 15% of the total refund.

ONCE THE RACE MEETING HAS COMMENCED

4 The climbing of fences, stands or any other buildings is forbidden.

5 Any person failing to comply with instructions from a steward or police officer may be ejected from the Racecourse.

6 Please observe the designated no drinking areas. Alcoholic beverages must not be carried to or consumed in these areas.

7 Amateur photography is accepted but only without ﬂash equipment.

8 Portable telephones may not be used anywhere on the Racecourse for betting purposes. Flags, banners and other articles and any behaviour such as drunkenness, abusive conduct, singing or shouting which may constitute an annoyance to spectators or distract or frighten the horses are prohibited.

9 Transfers between enclosures may be possible on the day, subject to availability.

10 Parking or setting down on the site is prohibited, other than at the official car parks.

11 Lost or stolen badges will not be replaced.

12 Hospitality badges are sold on the understanding that no money in respect of unused badges will be reimbursed.

13 Subject to the provisions of clause 1 which shall prevail over this clause, in the event of abandonment before racing, or up to the “Weighed-In” of the ﬁrst race there will be a full refund of badge and car parking costs. In the event of abandonment after the “Weighed-In” of the ﬁrst race up to the “Weighed-In” of the third race or nominated feature race, whichever is later there will be a 50% refund of badge and car parking costs. In the event of abandonment thereafter there will be no refunds. No cash refunds to be paid on the day. All refunds to be administered after the meeting by post. Where any customer is entitled (pursuant to clause 13) to any refund, in order to qualify for such refund the customer must follow the procedure listed opposite:

13.1 Make a note of the reference numbers of all badges and car park labels (these numbers will be found on the front of each badge or label).

To be valid, requests for refunds must be received in writing within one month of the abandoned raceday. The Company shall have no responsibility or liability of any nature in respect of any refund request received after that time

14 All persons visiting the Racecourse are admitted subject to these Regulations and to the Rules of Racing. The Management reserves the right to refuse admission to/or to remove from the Racecourse, in its absolute discretion and without giving any reasons, any person failing to comply with such Rules and Regulations or whose presence is, in its absolute discretion, a source of danger or annoyance and shall have no obligation to give any reason therefore.

15 The Company shall in no circumstances be liable for any loss, damage, cost or expense or any consequential or indirect loss or damage of any kind.

18 Bangor Racecourse has enhanced Safety & Security measures to ensure your safety, comfort and enjoyment of the day. However, an incident may occur which is beyond our control and it is important that you are aware of how we intend to look after you in the event of an emergency.

We employ professionally trained and experienced stewards who are located predominantly around the course and are identiﬁable by their uniform.

In the event of a situation that requires partial or full evacuation of the stands or racecourse, announcements will be broadcast and stewards will undertake the responsibility of ushering you to a place of safety; it is essential that you follow their instructions. Please take your immediate belongings with you and proceed out of the area quickly and calmly with the guidance of the stewards.
