TONIGHT’S SPONSORS
Welcome to Chelmsford City Racecourse
Welcome to Chelmsford City Racecourse this Halloween for, what we hope will not be too spooky, an evening of racing with a nine-race card in store and, we do hope, some fantastic racing. I had to look up the origins of Halloween and, apparently, it is an ancient Celtic festival when, it was believed, the souls of the dead returned to their homes, so people dressed in costumes and lit bonfires to ward off the spirits.
I am confident that we won’t need to ward off any spirits tonight, at least, here at the racecourse but a little divine intervention may be useful to help you find some winners. In the 7.00pm race, Sir Rodneyredblood, who is already a seven time winner at Chelmsford, is running for the 29th time here and my heart tells me how wonderful it would be to see him win here again.
Apart from him, I can only wish you the best of luck and I hope you have a lovely evening.
Neil Graham Racing Director

Timeform Rating
The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability.
The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances).
The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.

LITTLE SHE overcame a tardy start to finish a promising fourth at Kempton on debut. The winner is now rated 85, so this looks an easier assignment, and Marcus Tregoning’s filly appeals as one to keep on the right side of. CITY SELECTIONS
Tribal Wisdom has to be respected following his win at Wolverhampton recently, but a 4lb rise will make life tougher for him. With that in mind, preference is for IMITATE, who put in a career best when a close third at the same venue 10 days ago and she can race off the same mark here. No Surrender is another who has strong form claims.
