Terry & Marie Reardon Memorial
This race is sponsored by Jaq and Marc in memory of their late parents Terry and Marie. Terry sadly passed away on 20th March last year and the family felt today’s sponsorship would be a fitting memorial to both Terry and Marie.
Being Londoners, they came on their annual holiday to Exmouth every year since 1974 and it came as no big surprise when they decided to retire there at the ripe old age of 53.
They both decided to pick-up part-time work. Dad went back to working on the Post Office counter and Mum eventually started at the Tourist Information Centre.
Dad loved this return to one of his earliest jobs and built some lasting friendships at the offices he worked at Mum equally loved the people she worked with – she would often say if it wasn’t for the customers, it would be perfect!
Dad’s passion for green bowling ensured he had the opportunity to meet some great new friends. These friendships remained and were a great support especially after Mum passed in 2013 and again latterly, supporting Dad in his remaining months.
Some of my earliest memories as a child were of visiting Newton Abbot and Exeter racecourses, a tradition we continued for many years. We would often enjoy the comfort of the restaurant at Haldon.
I managed to get Dad along to the Cheltenham Festival in 2019 where we enjoyed some fantastic hospitality and a very nice price winner in Eglantine Du Seuil 66-1–not too shabby!
Their friends and family love and deeply miss them.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and we hope you create some memories of your own at this great course.
