THE PDM BUILDBASE SCOTLAND MAIDEN STAKES (CLASS 5)

RACE DESCRIPTION

This one mile and one furlong contest for three-year-olds and upwards is another maiden stakes - a race for horses that have yet to record a racecourse victory. There are a variety of reasons why the older horses in this race could still be maidens. Stoutly bred horses are unlikely to be seen at their best over the shorter distances of their juvenile season whilst a setback or injury can curtail even the most precociously bred horse’s two-year-old career.

RACE STATISTICS

Leading course trainer (16-21):

K Dalgleish (55 wins from 441 runners, 12%) runs PLATINUMCARD and TRISTAN DA CUNHA

Trainer-in-form (last 14 days):

M Johnston (15 wins from 101 runners, 15%) runs ALFAYAATH and GREEN BELIEVER

Longest Traveller:

JEBEL DUKHAN trained by Sir M Prescott, Newmarket, 360 miles.

BETTING FORECAST: 7-4 Jebel Dukhan (IRE), 9-2 Alfayaath (USA), 5-1 Alyara (GB), 7-1 Vision of Victory (IRE), 18-1 Neverwrongforlong (GB), 20-1 Tristan da Cunha (IRE), 22-1 Green Believer (GB), 33-1 Bella Bluesky (GB), 66-1 Platinumcard (IRE), 100-1 Gaolbreaker (IRE), 150-1 Dark Eclipse (IRE), Fairyworld (USA) RACE SUMMARY: JEBEL DUKHAN proved to be a disappointment on his handicap/turf debut at Doncaster 11 days ago, mustering only a fifth-placed finish and looking a shade awkward in the process. More severe headgear is reached for and Sir Mark Prescott’s colt is worth another chance upped in trip. Vision of Victory possibly needed the run last time so she’s feared most, ahead of Alfayaath. 1-2-3: 1.JEBEL DUKHAN (IRE) 2.VISION OF VICTORY (IRE) 3.ALFAYAATH (USA) FOR MAIDEN THREE YRS OLD AND UPWARDS NUMBER OF DECLARED RUNNERS 12

PDM BUILDBASE SCOTLAND have very generously sponsored this and will present a memento to the Winning Owner. In addition, a cash prize will be awarded to the person in charge of the horse judged to be the best turned out. Owners Prize Money. Winner £2262; Second £1130; Third £566; Fourth £282. (Penalty Value £2862)
