WELCOME E TO HEXHAM

THE RACECOURSE EXECUTIVE EXTEND A WARM WELCOME TO ALL OWNERS, TRAINERS, SPONSORS AND RACEGOERS TODAY.
We are grateful to “The European Breeders Fund” for their contribution to prize money for the “National Hunt Novices Hurdle” which is the second race on today’s card and to Leadstar Media for sponsorship of the third and fifth races on the card

Today see’s the second running of the year for our longest race staged at Hexham, the 4-mile steeple chase, which is also a qualifier for the “Go North Red Rum Series”, the final of which is set to be held on 23rd March 2025 at Carlisle This race once again is generously sponsored by BK Racing, a long-standing bookmaker in the ring at Hexham, and he has kindly included a £2.00 voucher in the race card to be presented at his pitch when having a bet in the race
The Injured Jockeys Fund are present today, selling a large range of goods, they are situated under the canopy in front of the Shire Bar. This is an excellent way to do your Christmas Shopping whilst enjoying the racing. Please support them as much as possible as they provide a fantastic service to not only jockeys who have been injured whilst racing but they also look after those that have since retired from the sport.
Whether you are a first-time visitor to the course or regular supporter we hope you have an enjoyable and successful day.
Robert Whitelock Racecourse Manager

BET TING WITH THE BOOKMAKERS
DIFFERENT WAYS TO BET - WIN OR EACH-WAY
The two main types of bet are win and each-way. For win bets, your horse needs to win the race outright An each-way bet is effectively two bets – one for your horse to win and one for it to be placed. So a £2 each-way bet will cost £4 A bookmaker taking each-way bets will display the terms on which they accept such bets on their board. In conjunction with The RCA, the bookmakers have introduced standard each-way terms. Bookmakers will provide these terms, or better, when offering each-way betting.
• Fewer than 3 runners - Win bets only, no places offered
• 3 or 4 runners – Win bets only Where a bookmaker wishes to depart from this default position they may offer place terms at 1/5 odds a place 1-2.
• 5 – 7 runners (inclusive) – 1/4 odds a place 1-2
• 8 or more runners – 1/5 odds a place 1-2-3
• Handicaps with 12 to 15 runners (inclusive) – 1/4 odds a place 1-2-3
• Handicaps with 16 to 21 runners (inclusive) – 1/5 odds a place 1-2-3-4
• Handicaps with 22 or more runners – 1/4 odds a place 1-2-3-4
PLACING YOUR BET
Shop around for the best odds When you have decided where to place your bet, state the number of your horse and the stake, for example “Number 4, £2 win” Listen to the bookmaker repeat the number of the horse and the stake to their clerk and hand them your money. You will then be given an itemised receipt detailing your bet and potential winnings. You should keep this safe until you have heard ‘Weighedin’ announced after the race If your bet is successful, hand your ticket to the bookmaker and they will give you your winnings

CADELL will likely face sterner resistance than when successful in a 3-runner affair at Wetherby 3 weeks ago, yet Lucinda Russell’s 6-y-o was dominant on that occasion and is fancied to take this with further progress in the offing. Reverend Hubert returned to chasing and President Scottie, who was progressive over hurdles last term, are fancied to emerge as the lead threats.
