PLAY SMARTER

Several to consider in this competitive contest. Preference is for OUD METHA BRIDGE, who put in good late work when third over this C&D last month and remains on a workable mark. Al Tarmaah is interesting on debut for new connections, particularly with William Buick booked, and he is second choice. The lightly-raced Poet’s Eye is also shortlisted, along with the 3-y-o Thunderclap.

PLAY SMARTER

This looks ripe for VALIANT PRINCE, who has shown plenty of ability in his two starts at Newmarket, latterly finishing clear of the rest when chasing home a useful type in a 1m novice. Pride of Priory made a promising start to his career at Chelmsford and gets the nod for forecast purposes ahead of Karuoka, Mutafawwig, who is returning from a monster absence, and likely improver Desert Pioneer.

MANGO BOY shaped well on his recent introduction at Newmarket where he wasn’t unduly punished. The hat-trick beckons for the progressive CHAI YO POWER, who did the job well back on the all-weather at Lingfield a fortnight ago and this 8lb higher mark should be within reach given that he probably has more to offer.
