Welcome back to Ludlow Races for our 2024/25 Season.
I hope you have all had a great summer, sadly, I don’t think we have had a particularly warm one and it certainly feels as if autumn has arrived.
We welcome back Ludlow Brewery for their annual race meeting and likewise we welcome Butcher Woods Ltd and the Roberts Family.
We have got some interesting, branded meetings this autumn with the Farmers Day on November 7th with Cheerful Charlie from Jeremy Clarkson’s Diddly Squat series giving a talk in the Windsor Marquee and numerous agricultural related stalls and of course Tanners Christmas Meeting on December 18th. Book to save disappointment.
Racecourse staff have been busy preparing for the start of this season and various projects have been on going to improve facilities for racegoers and to ensure improved safety for the racehorses while racing We are excited to be starting the upgrade and modifications to the Weighing Room in May 2025.

HOW TO BET WITH AN ON-COURSE BOOKMAKER
1. Pick your Racehorse, look around for the best odds on course, try to offer the correct stake money for your wager.
2. Ask the Bookmaker for your bet, name the horse, (the bookmaker won’t necessarily know it’s number). Listen to the bookmaker repeat your bet to his clerk, correct bookmaker if he makes a mistake and receive your Betting Ticket as a receipt for your bet.
3. Should your horse happen to win, present your betting ticket to the bookmaker, check your winnings.
4. Check with the bookmaker when placing a bet, the Place Terms Place Betting, not all on course bookmakers accept each way bets, i.e. for a win or a place
5. In the unlikely event of a dispute after adhering to this procedure, the bookmaker will tell the punter to approach the Ring Official, who will advise the racegoer as to his rights.
6. Some course bookmakers have minimum stakes. e.g.£1, £5 or £10 but small backers are catered for in the racecourse Betting Shops.

Race Summary: RICKETY BRIDGE made fairly hard work of it when making a successful debut over hurdles at Southwell in March, but it was under difficult conditions after all, and his fairly useful bumper form suggests he should be up to defying a penalty in a race of this nature. Mostly Sunny will surely pose the biggest threat if bouncing back from a poor effort at Worcester 12 days ago

This is designed to provide privacy for the Veterinary Surgeons, the patient and connections Please do not assume the worst.

OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS
The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability.
The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances).
The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicap races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.
For novice steeple chasers, the latest hurdle race rating may be shown until such time as the Handicappers allot a separate steeple chase rating. Such ratings are prefixed by the letter h.
