Race Description This is a two miles and three furlongs handicap hurdle race for eight-year-olds and upwards. The majority of handicaps are designed for horses from with a specific ratings band but this particular race has no rating restrictions attached to it which allows horses with a higher rating to take part. Even so, the higher rated horses must still concede weight to their lower rated rivals, which tends to make open handicaps very competitive races.

TIMEFORM VIEW Very useful chaser at his best but goes back over hurdles now after stiff task in Tingle Creek Chase. Not the easiest to weigh up but opening handicap mark is only fair. TIMEFORM VIEW Made light of 20-month absence when landing 20f Plumpton handicap in November and has posted two good efforts to be in the frame at Newbury and Kempton since. Solid claims again. TIMEFORM VIEW Useful hurdler at best but he arrives here having not convinced on his chase debut and well beaten back over timber at Doncaster (19.4f) last month. Others appeal more. TIMEFORM VIEW Useful hurdler who has a mixed record over fences, in process of running creditably prior to falling at Exeter on return. Reverted to hurdles now so not ruled out with yard among the winners. TIMEFORM VIEW Veteran showed he still retains retty useful level of ability when fifth at Aintree on return but unable to recover from serious error when seventh at Sandown last time. Needs to step forward now. TIMEFORM VIEW C&D winner but he turned in poor effort when pulled up in 21f handicap at Ascot 36 days ago. In good hands but he has it prove now. TIMEFORM VIEW Made it 2-4 for new yard this season with career-best effort when comfortably landing 19f handicap at Market Rasen 24 days ago. Hit with 8lb rise but still not taken lightly. TIMEFORM VIEW Already a dual hurdle winner for new yard this term and not disgraced back on Flat at Kempton last time. Expected to be bang there reverted to hurdles off handy mark. TIMEFORM VIEW Capable of useful form over fences but he goes hurdling having run poorly on back of wind op in 2m chase at Cheltenham on return. Hard to enthuse over. TFRHHIII BHA120

PLAY SMARTER A few of these arrive on retrieval missions but THIBAULT has been in excellent nick since joining Adam West yet still figures on a good mark so is taken to record hurdling win number three. Gortroe Joe is another who brings excellent recent form to the table so Fergal O’Brien’s Market Rasen scorer is rated next best ahead of the consistent Amour de Nuit.
