Race Description This is a two miles and three furlongs handicap hurdle race for four-year-olds and upwards which have been rated from 0 to 100. Once a horse has qualified for a handicap rating this is regularly reassessed. A below-par effort could result in a reduced rating whilst a strong performance could see the rating increased. Occasionally, horses are entered to race before their handicap rating has been reviewed and so to avoid recent winners being un-penalised they are allotted a mandatory penalty – usually 7lb.

TIMEFORM VIEW Winning pointer and well handicapped on the pick of his chase form. Hasn’t stood much racing though, and both runs this term have lacked promise. TIMEFORM VIEW Showed ability in points/novice hurdles and shaped as if needing the run at Ffos Las on return in November. Has had a wind operation since (also tongue tied) and remains low mileage. TIMEFORM VIEW Modest form only start in bumpers and hasn’t shown enough in maiden/novice hurdles to be of interest on this switch to handicaps. TIMEFORM VIEW Has shown bits of promise, including when fourth in a C&D novice in March, but has made an unpromising start to life in handicaps this term. Refitted tongue tie needs to have a positive effect. PLAY SMARTER A tricky low-grade handicap for which BROKE AWAY may be the answer having shaped as if back in top form at Leicester last time. The dangers are headed by Sprit of Rome, who has held her form well since striking at Fontwell in October, and the low mileage Full of Roque, who may have benefited from a wind operation.
