BRIDGEMORE in the Town of Farragut “Redefining the Art of Gracious Living… and Value”

In the beginning… The land’s three hundred and forty acres spread over terraced hills like a rumpled patchwork quilt colorfully crafted by “mother nature” from the morning dew, sequinesque ponds, hayfields, and the shadows and shade of forests. The hammock-like valleys and hills randomly crossed-stitched by creeks and fence rows are faded and refreshed by the rain and nurtured by glorious sunrises and sunsets. Comfortable, colorful, and convenient, this land has become the beautiful community of Bridgemore, and home for many area families. A sanctuary surrounded by gifts of nature… a most alluring place, that draws friends and families… an inviting place with babbling brooks and water features, wild life and home life, and relaxing places that beckon one to stay and take advantage of a casually elegant and invigorating lifestyle… and a visual awakening that can be called… a place called home!” Bridgemore is a master planned community being built for generations to enjoy. That is why the area’s finest land planners, designers, architects and builders have been and are creating, a community that will accommodate your needs through life’s many home buying stages. The Hills of Bridgemore, with the magnificent boulevard and grand limestone clubhouse, launched the first phase of Bridgemore offering 120 lots, where 53 homeowners are now living in their dream homes. Seven more homes are under construction, and several more are in the planning stages, leaving only seven developer-owned lots available to purchase in Phase I. The Lakes at Bridgemore Phase II followed, offering 38 lots, where 10 homeowners now reside. There are currently four completed spec homes for sale and eight more homes under construction, leaving only five developer-owned lots available in Phase II. Whenever anyone is selecting a neighborhood, look at the added value of the property. Location is an understood priority. Examine and evaluate the value of the already in-place features… infrastructure and amenities such as the Clubhouse and refreshing salt water pool. This insures added value rather than promises made for the future. Bridgemore offers 35% green space that will remain as even more “added value” and added memories and adventures for you, your children and grandchildren. The prime location of Bridgemore allows for convenient access to McFee Park, Willow Creek and Fox Den golf courses, and is just minutes from schools, I-40, and Turkey Creek with multiple options for dining, shopping and entertainment. The close proximity to many of the area lakes is also very appealing. Drive to the top of the hill and take a 360° walking view and be amazed. Visit the Clubhouse and be impressed. Walk down by the bridges and water features and be relaxed. Thank you for visiting See BRIDGEMORE on Page 5

Angie Cody, Realtor

Angie Cody

Off and running with a career she loves Real estate was always in the back of Angie Cody’s mind and in 2006 she pulled it off the back burner and was off and running with a career she loves. “I was told in my early 20s that I would be good at real estate and just went for it,” she says. An independent contractor with Realty Executives Associates, she likes having her own business and clientele. The flexibility to somewhat set her own schedule lets her juggle her professional and personal life which includes her son, a student at Knoxville Christian School where she’s a volunteer mom. She likes helping families and works with many that are relocating to the area. They’ve researched online and like what they see about Farragut. Cody moved here 20 years ago after doing her own research. As a Realtor she focuses on West Knox County and knows what it’s like to be a newcomer from her own experience. Cody says the town offers a lot of what people are looking for: outdoor recreation, convenient shopping, restaurants and No. 1 – good schools. That was what attracted Cody to the area when she purchased her own home in Fox Den. “I enjoy this neighborhood,” she says of the residential project that some say started the development boom in West Knox County. She belongs to Fox Den Country Club where she frequents the fitness center on a regular basis. “I’m really into health and fitness,” she says. She also enjoys the town’s many walking trails. A self-described “people person and people pleaser” Cody relishes 8 September 28, 2017 | A Place Called Home | Fall

the compliments she gets from clients when she’s done a good job. “Real estate can be stressful and it makes me feel good that I’ve done a good job and helped clients reach their goals for the past 11 years.” she says. Buying a house is usually the most expensive purchase anyone will make and she strives to find the right fit for each client. What a client wants often depends upon age and lifestyle, she adds. Families with children are looking for three bedrooms all on one floor, bonus room, two-story house. Older people are looking for the single story house. Either way resale value is something her clients are looking for as well. “I just want to help more and more families each year in selling homes,” Cody says. “Each year I’ve been in business it’s grown. I sell 40 to 50 houses a year.” It’s a good thing, too, because in addition to providing for her family, there’s her four-legged “children.” Cody is active in Adopt a Golden rescue group here. She practices what she preaches. The dog lover has adopted three senior age canines. Rosie was recently rescued and she is a golden retriever/Bassett hound mix; Jax is a golden mix and Dungy is the lone Labrador retriever. “I like to save the senior dogs.” She favors goldens because they’re “a nice, gentle, family dog and I love their personality and how they smile.” Cody can be reached at Realty Executives Associates, 865-693-3232 or angie@angiecody.com.

“ I just wanted to thank you for all you did for us getting our house sold. You were fantastic with handling problems and bumps along the way. I wouldn’t have used anyone else but you. You went above and beyond what anyone else would have done.”

Diversified Enclosures & Screen

Time to relax on the porch Diversified Enclosures & Screen offers custom sunrooms It’s a beautiful night, low humidity, slight breeze, great time to relax on the porch. It’s East Tennessee so grab the mosquito repellent and don’t forget the fly swatter. That is unless you have the Eze-Breeze system from Diversified Enclosures & Screen. Then you can sit back, relax and laugh at the bugs! Mike and Stacy Pfeffer are owners and have been in business since 2000. They can transform your existing porch into a bug-free zone or build a screened porch or sunroom from the ground up. What makes their system different is it uses memory vinyl, not glass, cutting the cost in about half from traditional systems. With our mild winters, Eze-Breeze rooms can be used nearly year round. A sunroom with glass windows becomes a permanent structure but their system allows homeowners to still use the sunroom as an outdoor porch. The advantage is when you want to let the breeze in you can collapse the vinyl windows for 75 percent ventilation, leaving a screened porch. “We probably do 200 to 300 a year,” says Stacy Pfeffer of the Eze-Breeze system. “Most people use them like a normal sun room putting their TV and patio furniture in one. It’s all sealed against the weather.”

10 September 28, 2017 | A Place Called Home | Fall

Everything is powder coated aluminum and maintenance free in three color options. There are even three sizes of pet doors that can be installed in the “people door” or a solid wall. Pfeffer says people find all sorts of ways to use the sunrooms. One customer bought one for her cats, calling it her “catio.” Another wanted a bird sanctuary and customers have used them to stash temperature sensitive plants for the winter. “We can screen a 9 x 13 opening without any posts in the center,” Pfeffer says. “People who live on the lake don’t want their view obstructed and we can do those large openings and offer a lifetime blowout warranty.” The self-locking spline system withholds 550 pounds of pressure. The company also offers powder coated aluminum handrails in bronze or white. Handrails are custom built for each project and can be done to any height or length. Custom gates are built to match. They also use custom built screen doors from PCA Products, a sister company. The office number is 865-453-6780. Check out the Web site at sunandscreen.com or visit the show room at 110 Flat Creek Rd. in Sevierville, TN.

Driven professional nature and accountability are keys to her success Kriston Wilson, holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from The University of Tennessee but her career in the real estate industry began as a loan officer in 2005 which led to her real estate license in 2013. She began her real estate career for Realty Executives Associates at their Land Oak location off Kingston Pike. Wilson believes that the keys to her success are her driven professional nature and accountability to her buyers and sellers. “The trust factor is huge in this business,” Wilson said. “I feel like you have to treat people the way that you would want to be treated; if you were buying or selling a home.” “I find that I work smarter and more efficient when I stay busy. I’m a goal setter and I think that’s one of the reasons that I’ve experienced success in a pretty tough industry.” Wilson’s goal is to make building a home or buying/selling resale as smooth as possible. “You really have to love this business and learn patience to represent your clients in the best possible manner” she said. Roost

The only locally owned & operated waste company in your area!

Providing: Paula Osborn, Owner, Roost Home

“Come home to Roost” The vision for ROOST started with the name and its’ definition. ROOST: a verb meaning ‘to become comfortably established in ones residence or lifestyle.’ The word just seemed to fit! ROOST represents a clever mix. It is a home furnishings store with a causal flair brought to life by a distinct designer vibe. The name serves a dual purpose, not only does it describe the design sensibility of the product that the store offers, but it also defines the strong desire owner Paula Osborn has to work in the town that has raised her. “Come Home to Roost” is exactly what Paula did, she came back to invest and rest in her hometown. The storefront in Maryville offers insight into products that are carefully selected to promote a casual elegant lifestyle. Paula, a Maryville girl, has spent a lot of time “cherry-picking” furniture, lamps, rugs, art and accessory lines to develop a store that offers both a price point and a level of quality and uniqueness to be proud of. ROOST represents many fine local and regional artists, and good handmade crafts is a passion of Osborn. See if Paula can help you “Come Home to Roost” by contacting her at 865-984-4100 or visit www.roosehome.com.

Markli Home Builders

Building the home your grandchildren remember you by “We have set before ourselves the ideals of honesty of materials, solidity of construction, utility, adaptability to place and aesthetic effect…” this quote of iconic early 20th century design leader of the Arts and Crafts movement Gustav Stickley struck a responsive chord with Bob Markli, and became a driving force behind his building philosophy. Stickley’s trademark which includes the Flemish phrase interpreted “ to the best of my ability” became his watchword. When Bob built his first home in Farragut in 1991, he was already a seasoned professional with over 20 years of building experience. In the 26 years since he has been an integral part of four of the Town’s most revered communities and has become the area’s most trusted, experienced and skillful builder of fine custom homes. Along the way he has garnered many awards, developed relationships with some of the nation’s finest residential designers, (several of whom feature his homes on their websites), was a long-time member of the Southern Living Custom Builder Program, and has built as many as five homes for a single client. He is the “go to” builder for the discerning home buyer who has reached the point in life of understanding what only a builder like Bob can bring to their project. When architecture matters, details are important and quality imperative, there is no substitute for passion, skill, and above all depth of experience. Trust your sensitive design to a hands-on, artisan craftsman at the peak of his profession and let him help you, as William Poole puts it, “Make the place you live the place you love.” From the sensitive interpretation of plans by the outstanding designers of our time, to the incomparably sensuous, organic harmony he creates between site and structure, there is no comparison to a Markli home. It is something felt as much as seen. Once understood, nothing else will ever satisfy.

Kay McGinnis jumped off the corporate hamster wheel to spend more time with her family and live a less stressful lifestyle. But there was always a little voice in her head that kept whispering there was more left for her to do. Always a passion for decor and design, she decided to pursue that path and launched a business out of her garage in 2010 but it outgrew that space and into a retail booth. “In 2015, my passion grew stronger, and I wanted to offer a very unique shopping experience in Farragut,” she says. “I felt Farragut needed Snooty Patootie, and Snooty Patootie needed Farragut.” Her dream, Snooty Patootie, now resides in the perfect spot at 11110 Kingston Pike, Suite 150, next to Sam and Andy’s. McGinnis says the store’s name fits with her fun, quirky personality. Besides, who can forget a name like Snooty Patootie. She offers unique finds in furniture, decor, gifts, clothing and jewelry along with design services. “We feature a grand shopping experience for our customers by offering spectacular European architectural finds including vintage doors, iron gates and ceiling tiles.” The hunt for the perfect find started in childhood and is something McGinnis still enjoys. It’s those unusual items that let customers create an inviting home unlike any other, she adds. An added bonus is working with her sister, Darlina Brooksbank, who provides interior design services. Together they concentrate on a mix of French country and urban furnishings. McGinnis grew up in Roane County, but has lived here with her husband since 1990. They have two children. “I love owning my own business,” she says. “I’m surrounded by close friends and family, and without them I’d never be able to fulfill my dream. Owning your own business is very rewarding and definitely a ‘Labor of Love’.” ~ Suzanne Neal

LifeCare Center of Blount County

Getting Back Home Sooner After an accident or injury, the thought of rehabilitation can be daunting. But by becoming more familiar with what’s available, you can lay your post-hospitalization worries aside and focus on getting back home. Before choosing a therapy provider, it’s necessary to consider the types of therapy available: - Physical therapy provides fitness-style recovery routines designed to help treat injuries and promote healing. - Occupational therapy is designed to help patients regain strength for their activities of daily living (ADL), such as going up flights of stairs, getting out of bed, preparing meals and cleaning. - Speech therapy, also called speech-language pathology, is for individuals managing conditions such as stroke or Parkinson’s disease that impair speech, cognition and/or the ability to swallow. It’s important to feel confident when choosing the right care. Consider the following points: • You don’t have to do it alone. Willpower is important, but physical and occupational therapists are recovery specialists who can help you get stronger faster. With their training and experience, they will set personalized goals that can keep you on track to recovery.

30 September 28, 2017 | A Place Called Home | Fall

• Rehab can be faster than you think. Therapy actually helps you recover much faster than you would on your own. In some cases, people complete therapy in as little as 30 days! • Therapy is a challenge to overcome. Therapy is not designed to be your opponent. Therapists are skilled at working efficiently with each patient at his or her own pace. And therapy can be fun. Care centers are often full of unique “toys” and state-of-the-art equipment. Before you enroll in an outpatient therapy program recommended by your hospital or physician, know your options: • Research facilities and what they have to offer, and check reputable healthcare review sites for testimonials. • Talk about your options with family and friends; someone you know may be able to offer valuable advice based on their personal experiences. • Tour facilities to meet therapists and care providers, and to get a feel for the environment. With a little insight and preparation, you can find the right post-hospital care provider and get back home sooner! Learn how the team at Life Care Center of Blount County can help you recover and go home! Call 865-984-3146 today.

WindRiver

Love of East Tennessee is Deep East Tennessee has always been a very special place for Joe Ayres and his family. It is the place they have called home for many generations. Joe grew up here, raised his family here, and is now watching the next generations of Ayres do the same. It is the love of and dedication to East Tennessee that brought him to WindRiver. WindRiver is a very special property. It is beautiful land in an unparalleled setting and offers many terrific opportunities for a peaceful lakeside lifestyle. Take the boat out on the clear waters of Tellico Lake; join a group of friends at the Top of the Hill Grill after a round of golf; stretch your legs with a walk on the nature trails; enjoy a deliciously unique meal at Citico’s Restaurant and Club; relax on the deck in your favorite chair and watch the evening sun disappear. It is moments like these that make up the true WindRiver experience. ~ Joe Ayres, WindRiver Developer
