Farragut Vision, Town Officials & Contacts

Town of Farragut

“Welcome to Farragut. If you haven’t visited yet, I would encourage you to come see what Farragut is all about. As mayor, I have a unique opportunity to meet people and hear their diverse stories. One common theme I hear is that there’s no place quite like Farragut. As a Knoxville native, growing up in Powell and Fountain City, and an engineer by trade, working in various parts of the country, logging over a million miles on the road, working on more than 800 projects over a 28-year career, I too can say there’s no place quite like Farragut. I love this town, and I’m confident you will, too.”

Farragut is a town of volunteers. Volunteers applied for incorporation, and serve as elected and appointed officials on boards and committees to supplement the small professional staff. In Farragut, residents give their time and talents to accomplish the Town’s vision: to redefine quality of life, with a beautiful, close-knit, connected community, where families and business thrive.

The Board of Mayor and Aldermen, the Town’s chief legislative body, works hard to serve residents and make decisions about how to use Farragut’s limited resources. The board works closely with the staff to establish priorities, set goals and make plans to achieve the Town’s vision for the future.

Operating without a municipal property tax means the Town of Farragut must be strategic with its resources. As such, the Town has adopted a strategic plan to identify its vision, mission, and critical success factors. When deciding how to utilize Farragut’s resources, the board looks to the strategic plan to determine whether the use under consideration would positively impact one or more critical success factors. In this way, the Town uses its strategic plan as a map and compass, guiding decisions as it moves toward an ideal future. Together, the elements of the strategic plan describe what success looks like for Farragut.

In recent years, the Town has successfully energized commercial centers and filled empty tenant spaces with thriving businesses. The Town also works closely with strategic partners to plan for future commercial and residential growth. These successes have made Farragut a great community to call home, for families and businesses alike.

It has been a long-term goal to develop a walkable town center in Farragut with public gathering spaces, unique shopping and dining and increased housing options. That process is now underway in the former Kroger shopping center. With the arrival of Topgolf Knoxville in late summer of 2022, we are also poised to meet the goal of creating a family entertainment hub. These amenities, along with Farragut’s interconnected neighborhoods, make our Town a truly desirable place to live or visit.
