Mandai Rainforest Resort by Banyan

Banyan Tree NEWLY OPENED

A pioneer in sustainable luxury hospitality, Banyan Tree has curated a collection of highly original, eco-friendly hotels and resorts around the world. Now, this visionary Singapore-based company is coming home with a unique rural retreat nestled within the Lion City’s Mandai Wildlife Reserve.

Newly opened in April 2025, Mandai Rainforest Resort by Banyan Tree feels a million miles away from the high-rise skyline of Singapore’s CBD. The first resort in the country to achieve Green Mark Super Low Energy (SLE) certification, this organic project is blessed with a biophilic design that blends seamlessly into the natural surroundings, including the lush rainforest and rippling waters of the Upper Seletar Reservoir.

Guests can stay in a choice of 338 spacious rooms, stylish suites, and luxurious treehouses perched in the canopy, soothe their senses at the Banyan Tree Spa, take a dip in elevated outdoor pools, and discover local artisan products in the retail shop. Culinary options include the aptly named Forage with its ‘Trust the Chef’ menu, and Planter’s Shed, an all-day dining destination where chefs focus on locally sourced and seasonal ingredients, including produce from a rooftop garden.

The resort is ideal for all ages, with a choice of family rooms and plenty of activities to help kids develop a deeper appreciation for nature, from engaging arts and crafts to wildlife-spotting games. Visitors can also explore nearby attractions, including the Night Safari, Bird Paradise, River Wonders, and Singapore Zoo.

For eco-conscious explorers who want to get back to nature and experience a different side of Singapore, Mandai Rainforest Resort is a truly inspiring place to stay.

Eco Adventures for Earth Day in Asia

Since the launch of the first Earth Day in 1970, ecotourism has evolved from a niche market segment into a global movement that is reshaping every aspect of travel and hospitality. Today’s eco-conscious explorers demand experiences that have a positive impact on the planet – and increasingly turn away from those that don’t.

As the world celebrates its 55th Earth Day on 22nd April 2025, this article shines a spotlight on four sustainable activities in Asia that showcase the natural and cultural heritage of their destination and empower visitors to make a difference.

Handcrafted Houseboat

Cruises in Kerala

The serene backwaters of Kerala offer the perfect setting to get back to nature. The area’s traditional houseboats, known as “kettuvallams”, are crafted by hand using organic materials such as bamboo, coconut fibres, and wood from native trees, so a scenic cruise through the waterways will contribute positively to the local economy and keep time-honoured customs alive.
