A Shared Investment At Emmanuel, we know that a college education is a worthwhile investment that can reap great rewards. We also understand that paying for a quality private education can be a challenge. This is why we are committed to making a liberal arts and sciences education affordable. We believe that paying for an Emmanuel education is a partnership between the student, their family and the College.

Students invest in their education by applying for scholarships and grants, and by borrowing with low-cost federal student loans.

Parents contribute to their children’s education from savings, current income, tax credits and through lowcost parent loans.

Emmanuel College supports our students by offering merit-based scholarships and need-based grant aid, and by participating in all federal and state funding options.

Financing an Emmanuel Education Most students and families draw from a variety of sources to pay for an Emmanuel education. Office of Student Financial Services How do I apply for need-based aid?

To apply for federal, state and Emmanuel College need-based financial aid for the 2011-2012 academic year, students must complete: 1. The 2011-2012 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at www.fafsa.gov after January 1, 2011. To electronically sign the FAFSA, both the student and a parent need to obtain a PIN number at www.pin.ed.gov.

2. The 2011-2012 Emmanuel College Application for Financial Aid, which is available online under the “Tuition & Aid” section of www.emmanuel.edu.

Although our priority filing date is March 1, 2011, we encourage you to complete these applications as soon after January 1st as possible. If you will not have your 2010 taxes completed by the priority filing date, we encourage you to use estimates based on your W-2s and/or last year’s taxes.

Are there part-time job opportunities for students?

Emmanuel College strives to assist students with educational costs by offering on and off campus part-time employment opportunities. On-campus employment opportunities are available in academic departments, the residence halls and in administrative offices such as the library and athletic offices. All students are eligible to apply for on-campus positions; however, a limited number of off-campus partnerships are only available to students awarded Federal Work Study. In addition to the positions available through Emmanuel College, our location affords students the opportunity to find off-campus positions within walking distance of the campus.

How do I apply for private scholarships?

To help reduce costs, students may apply for private scholarships.

Eligibility for private scholarships is based on academics, athletic skills, career interests or any of several other criteria. Possible sources include high schools, churches, local organizations, parent’s place of employment or other clubs to which the family belongs. Most local libraries and high school guidance offices have scholarship books or websites.

Helpful Tips Apply early. Ensure that you’re considered for all potential sources of aid and complete your applications ahead of time.

Review applications for accuracy. Take the time to review the application and the instructions so that the process is not delayed.

Keep copies of all your applications and your taxes and W-2s.
