Biostatistics The study of biostatistics challenges students to combine math and statistics in answering questions about biology and human health. Biostatistics is an interdisciplinary major in which students not only gain a strong background in two fields, but also acquire the communication skills that are essential to success in the working world. A career in biostatistics is ideal for students with strength in mathematics and science, who enjoy working with computers and numbers, and wish to apply their skills to living real-world problems in biological research.

Where Can Studying Biostatistics Get You? Emmanuel College believes that the best preparation for success and meaningful careers is a strong liberal arts and sciences education. The program in biostatistics at the College reflects that conviction. The program provides students with opportunities – through courses in specialized fields within the discipline, as well as through internships – to develop the skills and knowledge required to move into the world of work. Graduates with a degree in biostatistics find employment in medical facilities, research institutions, pharmaceutical companies and data analysis organizations. They will also be prepared for master’s and doctoral programs in statistics, biological research and public health. Biostatistics majors may also be interested in exploring a concentration in health sciences as well as Emmanuel’s pre-professional preparation programs (i.e., pre-medical, pre-dental, pre-veterinary).
