Education We believe education changes people. It opens doors. Emmanuel College will prepare, fulfill and enrich you as you learn to open those doors for others. Emmanuel College’s Department of Education prepares students who desire to become elementary and secondary school teachers. Students begin by building knowledge of the history and philosophical foundations of education in America. They are trained in current theory and researchbased practice in the design, delivery and management of curriculum and instruction. Students will gain fieldbased, hands-on experience as they prepare to educate the future leaders of the world.

Where Can Studying Education Get You? Emmanuel College believes that the best preparation for success and meaningful careers is a strong liberal arts and sciences education. The education department at the College reflects that conviction. The program provides students with opportunities – through courses in specialized fields within the discipline, as well as through a required student teaching practicum – to develop the skills and knowledge necessary to move into the world of work. The education program complies with licensure requirements established by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. Students seeking Initial Licensure in Massachusetts must pass the Massachusetts Tests for Educator Licensure (MTEL).
