OFFICE OF INTERNSHIPS & CAREER DEVELOPMENT SERVICES FOR GRADUATE & PROFESSIONAL PROGRAMS STUDENTS & ALUMNI The Office of Internships & Career Development (ICD) is here to assist all Emmanuel students and alumni with career-related issues.

ICD Website: http://www.emmanuel.edu/Academics/ICD On our website, we offer our Helpful Handouts on resume writing, cover letters, etc. as free downloads, as well as links to valuable websites for job searching. We also have FOCUS, an online career assessment used to determine possible new career interests for the user. FOCUS is available for free to all Emmanuel students and alumni.

GPP Resources The Office of Internships and Career Development staff is available to assist GPP students with many of your career needs. Many of our services, resources, and programs are available to you both online at http://www.emmanuel.edu/Academics/ICD and in the office in the Administration Building Room 230.

Career Assistance Individual Appointments The Career Assistance Individual Appointments are open to all Emmanuel College GPP students free of charge. During these sessions, our staff can help you plan solutions for your career-related concerns while identifying appropriate ICD Office resources, programs, and services. We can critique your resume, C.V., cover letter, or graduate school application essay. We will meet with alumni in person or over the phone.

Career Assistance Appointments Monday – Friday between 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM or by appointment Emmanuel College Career Connect – (EC3) EC3 is a career information management system for Emmanuel students and alumni. Search for jobs, internships, career events, volunteer opportunities, and more. Upload your resumes, cover letters and references, and store them safely and securely. You will also have the opportunity to connect with employers and sign up for reminders about events and new postings.

To access an existing account visit: https://emmanuel-csm.symplicity.com/students/index.php 1. Log in using your username and password. If you forgot your password, click “forgot password” and enter your e-mail address.

To sign up for a new account: Contact the ICD Office by e-mail at careerdevelopment@emmanuel.edu or call (617) 735-9930 to request a new account. The ICD Office will set up your EC3 account and send you the username and password information.

Career Fairs Career fairs are open to alumni. Bring copies of your resume and dress for success. Career fairs are listed in our events calendar. We also list fairs not sponsored by us which we believe might be useful to alumni.

Employer Pre-Night/Information Sessions Numerous opportunities exist during the academic year to meet employers as they present information on their organizations and the positions they are looking to fill. They are open to all alumni and you can find out who is coming on the events calendar.

Focus 2 Use our Web-based career planning tool to assist you in learning more about your unique skills, abilities, interests, and values and the occupations that fit your profile.

On-Campus Interviews Interviews are conducted during the fall and the spring semesters for part-time, internship, and full-time positions.

Events, Workshops, and Programs These are events held throughout the year on discipline-related career panels, career fairs and expos, resume clinics, and job search workshops, mock interview clinics, and special programs.

Employment Opportunities Have your Human Resources person or hiring manager set up an account in EC3, our job and internship database. EC3 account holders can also search the Resume Books in the system. Obtain an account by going to our home page: https://emmanuel-csm.symplicity.com/employers/index.php . On the right, is the login selection box. Select employer and click Go to Login. Then register for a new account or contact for an existing employer.

Mock Interviews Serving as a mock employer can be a rewarding experience, and an opportunity to reconnect with fellow alumni. Students seek your feedback and recommendations as they hone their skills and practice interviewing with today's professionals.

Shadowing Host an Emmanuel student for a day to see what a "day in the life" is like at your work setting through the Saints@Work shadowing program. These shadow experiences allow you to connect with talented students, and foster an opportunity for a student to better understand your career field.

Informational Interviews Serve as a contact for current Emmanuel students who have an interest in learning more about your industry, employer, or career path. Just 20 minutes of your time can make a huge difference in a current student's understanding of the field and build their confidence significantly.
