Schoaf Honored with ECAC Award of Valor Emmanuel College sophomore Craig Schoaf was recognized on Sept. 29 at the 2013 Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Honors Dinner held at the Sea Crest Beach Hotel in North Falmouth, Mass.
Schoaf, a student-athlete on the Saints Cross Country and Track & Field Teams, received the ECAC Award of Valor for his courageous acts following the April 15th Boston Marathon bombings. ECAC Commissioner Dr. Kevin T. McGinniss presented the 2013 ECAC Award of Valor to five recipients at Sunday evening’s dinner, which was sponsored by Jostens and held in conjunction with the 25th Annual ECAC Convention and Trade Show. Along with Schoaf, the Award of Valor honorees included Bucknell University’s Leonard Joseph (Whitesboro, N.Y.), University of New Hampshire’s Cameron Lyle (Plaistow, N.H.), Plymouth State University’s
Ali Keith (Northfield, N.H.) and Clark University’s Reed Powell (Worcester, Mass.). The ECAC Award of Valor is awarded annually and was established in 1985 to honor Eastern College Athletic Conference student-athletes whose courage, motivation and relentless determination serve as an inspiration to all. The recipients of the Award of Valor exemplify strength of character and perseverance deserving recognition as being truly triumphant. By the Numbers – The 2013 Emmanuel College men’s soccer team played seven consecutive home games during the month of September. This marks the longest homestand that the program has had since its inception in 2003.
