Glitter Bombs, Bulldogs, and a Donation Double Down

W

ow, it’s hard to believe Santa’s midnight ride is less than ten days away. As the song goes, it is The Most Wonderful Time of Year. And may I add, the busiest. There is so much going on at our Webb Weekly offices; the hustle and bustle of the Christmas season are in full swing. Tip of my Santa hat to editor Steph and her three helpers from the North Pole — Tinsel McJingles, Freddy Gumdrop, and Sparky Tinselbottom. Talking about a whirlwind of Christmas activity, Steph has her elves beyond busy helping with our Annual Blaise Alexander Family Dealership Coloring Contest. See, every year, Steph recruits a little holiday temp help to process and judge all the great work the boys and girls of the West Branch Valley send us. She was lucky to get the three this year, with the nationwide employee shortage and all. It always amazes me the effort the kids put into the contest. One entry actually glitter bombed our Kane Street office; I’m lucky there were no workman’s or elfman’s comp claims filed. Seriously though, I’m glad I don’t have to judge; in my eyes, every child would be a winner. We will be allowing a little extra time this year to receive all the amazing artwork the kids have done. This due to the USPS being a little overburdened and deliveries are

taking a little longer. Maybe Steph can send them the three elves to help out after the coloring contest ends. That leads me to if, for any reason, you do not receive your weekly Webb, please let me know. I will make sure you have one in your hand, lickety-split. Who knows, I might be bringing it myself with the use of Santa’s sleigh and those magical reindeer. Next up on our holiday hit list, please don’t forget about our Red Kettle collection in remembrance of Dave Sechler. For every dollar you contribute to the great cause of The Salvation Army, I match it. No strings attached; no extended warranty needed. Simply stop by our office at 280 Kane Street, Suite 2 in South Williamsport 17702, and drop it in the Red Kettle. You may also mail it in, mark it “Remembering Dave,” and we’ll make sure it gets into the Red Kettle. If you drop by the office and make a donation, we will have a Webb Weekly mug filled with candy for you, just to say Merry Christmas and thank you. The Salvation Army does amazing work with all contributions kept local. They are always there in times of need for our friends, family, neighbors, and our community. With your help since we began the campaign to continue ringing the bell for Dave Sechler, over $50,000 has found its way into that Red Kettle. A heartfelt thank

you and Merry Christmas to all that have contributed. Moving Santa’s sleigh right along to the amazing season the Jersey Shore Bulldog footballers had. They added another district title and a 3rd straight trip to the PIAA Final Four at the 4A level. Jim In wrapping things up this Webb, Jr. week, I would like to put a bow on the outstanding Bulldog season by celebrating some great individual seasons. Everyone always begins talking about a team’s accomplishments with the offensive numbers; I’m gonna kick it off talking about some mad Dawgs on Defense. First up, a tip of my coaching cap to defensive coordinator Alex Jackson. He is simply the best D.C. in PA. The Bulldog D featured three players that went over the magic number of 100 tackles. Senior Karter Peacock – 131, fellow linebacker Junior Hayden Packer – 121, and defensive end/ move him around on the D line Sr. Connor Davis – 109; Connor has been spectacular on the D line the last two seasons. All three should represent Jersey Shore as All-State defenders. A shout out to Jr. Luke Springman, who recorded 94 tackles. The sack leader for the Dawgs was sophomore Tate Sechrist; he got home 7.5 times to say hello to the opposing QB. Sr. Cayden Hess led the team with six interceptions and was again tremendous on both sides of the ball, and will be an All-

State repeater. Hayden Packer was also the team leader with 19 tackles for loss. What an absolute Bulldog tough defense. Now on to the offensive side, the Bulldog Band and cheerleaders got a lot of action on Friday nights celebrating touchdowns. Junior QB Brady Jordan matured into one of the best signal-callers in the state. Brady threw for 2,099 yards and 18 touchdowns and scampered for another 1,016 yds and 14 touchdowns. Brady accounted for 3,115 total yards and 32 TDs during his stellar season. Cayden Hess was the team’s leading receiver with 55 catches for 999 yards. After further review, I found one yard that was missed, so I’m giving him 1,000 for the season. What a remarkable career this young man has had for the Orange and Black. Hayden Packer hit both magic numbers for his positions. He was also the team’s leading rusher with 1,237 yards scoring a team-high 20 TDs. For my money, he is the State’s 4A Player of the Year. In addition to Brady Jordan, Hayden Packer, and Cayden Hess, the Dawgs had two others top 1,000 all-purpose yards. Freshman Elijah Jordan totaled 1,039 yds. And all everything performer Jr. Cooper Peacock contributed 1,107 yds. Just impressive numbers posted by the Bulldog offense. Congratulations to the Jersey Shore Bulldog football nation on another great season. And for those keeping score at home, the Bulldogs got a heap of talent returning next year to make another run at the gold medal. God Bless America.

O

h look! Another Christmas of Steph waiting until the absolute last minute to finish everything for Christmas! And not for any good reason, just because of who I am as a person. I swear, someday I’ll get myself together, but at this rate, I’m already behind on next Christmas! I thought about enlisting some help from Tinsel McJingle, but I’m a little worried about her seeing Santa’s House downtown and not coming back! Plus, she’s a little sus with my credit card! Speaking of the Coloring Contest, we are almost ready to announce the winners. Tinsel, Freddy, and Sparky have worked hard to sort them out and get them ready for judging! I’ll tell you what, I still don’t know how they did it, but I know letting them work from home — and by home, I mean Santa’s Workshop on Candy Cane Lane — has really seemed to make them more productive! I hope that Santa gives them a much-needed vacation when they get back to the North Pole. Just a little reward for all their hard work before they get back to making toys for

at the USPS, so I’ll give a couple of extra days to get your contests in. If you need an extra copy, you can find it pinned to the top of our Facebook page! all the boys and girls! So, we know that I am behind the eightIt always amazes me ball as always, but how are your holiday how many entries we plans coming along? Have you ticked get to our Coloring everyone off your list? Have you been Contest! Hundreds of watching TikToks to learn how to wrap littles come out and show us their best Steph everything in spectacular fashion? Does Nordstrom your house smell like the North Pole artwork! You wouldn’t itself with all your Christmas cookies? believe some of the work, effort, and talent that goes into If this is you, can you please come help some of these coloring pages! I’ll be me! And bring wine! Obviously, you are finding glitter around the office for a better adult than I am, come teach me months! I absolutely love it! It honestly your organized ways! I did get my tree up early this year goes a long way towards helping me find and am even doing a fairly good job my Christmas spirit every year! We will have all the winners and of keeping it watered. I was a little participants listed in next week’s concerned about our new cat seeing a Christmas edition! As always, I can’t tree for the first time, but she doesn’t thank our local businesses enough for seem bothered by the tree in the least. providing the great prizes! Huge shout We did have one minor incident where out to Flyworld/Kaos Fun Zone, English Bulleit forgot the difference between Model Railroad, Elery Nau Hardware, inside trees and outside trees and tried Hooplas, Treasure Castle Playland, to help me ‘water’ it, but honestly it was Harder Sporting Goods, AMC Theater, so funny it was hard to be mad! I hope that your holiday plans are Dairy Queen, Trout Pond Park, and coming together, and if they aren’t Outback Roos! And we will be giving a — come sit next to me and we can be little bonus time to get your entries in. I know things have been a bit backlogged Christmas failures together!

Jersey Shore Bulldog Coach Tom Gravish Looks Back on 2021 Football Season By Lou Hunsinger, Jr.

T

he Jersey Shore Bulldog football team has just completed one of the most memorable and productive seasons in its long, proud history. They bowed unfortunately to Aliquippa in the PIAA state semi-final game. Still, this loss does nothing to diminish the accomplishments of the fine young men of the Bulldog football program and their coach, Tom Gravish. Under Coach Gravish, they have been a football dynasty. This year they made their third consecutive appearance in the PIAA Final Four, winning four straight District 4 titles, five in the past six seasons, and compiling a scintillating 31-2 record in

their past 33 games. This season they went 14-0 before losing to Aliquippa. The mentorship and leadership of Coach Gravish have been key to this success; however, he is the last to shine the light on himself. We at Webb Weekly asked Coach Gravish to give a rundown as to what produced the success of this year’s Jersey Shore football team, and some of what he says may also be reflective of what produces the success of previous Bulldog teams. In his summary, he did not shine the light on any particular players because he saw the Bulldog success as a team success produced by the efforts and hard work of an entire 40-man squad, not just on a few individuals. What follows is what Coach Gravish had to say. “I am extremely proud of each

great example and standard that they set in 2021! Wow! They were unbelievable! “Our Assistant Coaches did another fantastic job getting our guys to play at such a high level of performance after losing 18 seniors from 2020. They are extremely dedicated throughout the year and coach their guys up each week during the season. The guys who played on the offensive, defensive or special teams scout teams should really be commended for getting our team to play well on Friday nights. “We could not have had the success that we had this year without the great support and generosity of our community, administration, booster club, trainers, managers, Jersey Shore Band, and Cheerleaders. We believe in ‘Tradition never graduates’! The torch has been passed to a new group of Bulldogs, and we look forward to a successful 2022 season.”

PERIPHERAL NEUROPATHY Peripheral neuropathy is a result of damage to the nerves often causing weakness, pain, numbness, tingling, and the most debilitating balance problems. This damage is commonly caused by a lack of blood flow to the nerves in the hands and feet which causes the nerves to begin to degenerate due to lack of nutrient flow.

Treatment at Twin Hills can include light therapy. The low level light therapy is like watering a plant. The light therapy will allow the blood vessels to grow back around the peripheral nerves and provide them with

of our Bulldog players. They did everything that we have asked from them. We had a great offseason. I applaud their commitment. Our guys played Bulldog Ball for 48 minutes in each of our games. They played with tremendous effort right to the final whistle against Aliquippa. Our team played with one heartbeat while they represented their respective unit on the field. “It all starts with the leadership of which our seniors displayed throughout the season in the classroom, community, and on the football field. The torch was passed to them after our game with Thomas Jefferson in Hershey last year. We will miss them greatly. They have been a part of four straight District 4 AAAA Championships, PHAC Division 1 Championships, and three straight PIAA Final Four appearances. They are now passing the torch to the next group of Bulldog leaders. What a

Williamsport Sun December 13, 1952 First Salvation Army Kettles Were to Aid Shipwrecked Sailors Compiled by Lou Hunsinger Jr.

A

nnually, for more than 50 years, Salvation Army volunteers have stood on the streets of Williamsport in the cold, windy weather attending Christmas kettles. Three generations, perhaps four, have

grown accustomed to this Christmas scene. They know that once the Salvation Army has put out its kettles or Christmas chimneys, the temperature has never dropped so low, nor the snow piled so high. Nor wind and storm, as to force abandonment of this Christmas program. Because of this background, a

representative of the “Sun” contacted Major Paul White, commanding office of the Salvation Army in Williamsport and Lycoming County, about the tradition behind the kettles. How did they come into use? And where? The answer to those questions is a fascinating story explaining the Salvation Army’s benevolence at Yuletide. Major White pointed out that the kettles, and more recently, the chimneys, are a symbol of what the Salvation Army stands for, “Kindness, courage and help for others.” Over 60 years ago, he said, a group of sailors were shipwrecked off the American West Coast. This mishap occurred in a period of deep depression for the area. Consequently, when the seamen were

rescued and brought to shore there at a community of moderate size, there was little at hand to maintain them. But the Salvation Army accepted responsibility for providing shelter. It undertook also to feed them. The SA funds became exhausted before the stranded sailors gained help from other sources. Finally, there was no longer any money to even a buy a beef bone for soup. In this desperate plight the Salvation Army officer put their soup kettles on a street corner. Above it he placed this sign, “Keep the Kettle Boiling.” A quick and generous response came from the folks of that seacoast village to the end that the sailors were thereafter well fed. This then evolved into an enduring Yuletide tradition.

Mama June is a talkative ginger beauty. She loves a can of wet food, moving toys from one room to another, staring out the window, and asking for pets. She is independent but loves a good back scratch. She is pretty indifferent to other animals. Her spirits will be bright this holiday when she is snuggled into her forever home.

up by the rising cost of everyday living. However, the high-interest rates were nice for those who had money to invest. They were cleaning up. Check out the 1987 film, “Wall Street,” starring Michael Douglas and Charlie Sheen, to get an idea of the euphoria that investors had in the Bull Market during that time. Those in positions of political influence (who also coincidentally were rather wealthy) found rampant inflation, not such a bad thing to have around. But the normal, everyday working Joe desperately wanted this to change, and this — more than anything else — was the message that brought Ronald Reagan into the White House in the 1980s. The experts scoffed at his economic policies, but it brought the double-digit inflation under

OVID continues to be our national nuisance, but there is a monster of a menace that is more harmful in the long run than this pesky pandemic. It’s like that ticking bomb that appears in so many dramatic television programs or Hollywood films where the hero is trying to figure out how to defuse this thing before it blows up and takes out a city block. Its name is Inflation — and it is ticking away as we speak. Few of those under the age of 50 have personally experienced how difficult it was to live with an economy that was racked by inflation. Let me give my personal example. I bought my first home in 1977 in Norristown, PA, and I was able to get a special VA mortgage rate — 15 percent! The standard rate at the time was 16.5 percent. I knew folks who had mortgage rates over 20 percent. These ridiculously high mortgage rates ate up a huge hunk of a family’s disposable income, and worse, there was virtually no equity being gained by homeownership in those first few years of the mortgage. Adding to the pain were high gas prices that increased four times over in the 1970s. Everything was expensive, and shortages were typical. What made it even more frustrating was watching any pay increases getting sucked

COUNTY HALL control, and once this happened, it stayed under control. Even the stock market bubble pop in 1986 and the banking crisis of 2007-2008 had little impact on the inflation rate. From the year 2000 to January 2021, the average inflation rate in America has been 2.14 percent annually, with the highest being 3.99 in 2006. The reason for this stability these past decades has been because (astounding!) Washington elected officials and bureaucrats understood one of the most basic, fundamental concepts of economics — supply and demand must be relatively equal. If supply is higher than needed,

production and services suffer as suppliers will take losses and be forced to cut back, which hurts the economy. The opposite is what we are experiencing now, demand is higher than supply, and thus things cost more. (Example: The reason why a bottle of water can cost as much as $3 at a ballgame is that you are thirsty, and the ballpark forbids you to bring in your own water. High demand plus limited supply equals a highly price-gouged bottle of water.) With the federal government pouring trillions of dollars into the economy alongside the problem with the delivery of goods, inflation has amped up

considerably. As of October of this year, the inflation rate is 6.22 percent, and some experts are predicting an 8 percent by year’s end. Do not read over that quickly. Inflation is already three times higher than it has been in three decades, and it will probably get higher. A recent Gallup poll reports that 45 percent of Americans say recent price increases have caused their families financial difficulty; 35 percent call the pain “moderate” while 10 percent find it “severe.” To make matters worse, this does not just impact us personally. Our local government entities will be faced with the fact that the 2022 budgets they have approved in 2021 might turn out to be insufficient as the year progresses because the cost of the goods

and services will cost more than budgeted. This will require digging into reserves (if they exist) or borrowing money to keep those government services functioning. These costs will roll over to the next year’s budget, and if high inflation rates continue, the whole process will be deja vu all over again. So, residents of Lycoming County, be aware that county government and all the local government entities are going to be doing a tap dance through next year. The “free” money that has poured into the county and local municipalities through these various programs related to COVID relief will be like cotton candy. It tastes sweet and brings a smile, but it is soon gone, and it might even leave a stomachache later.

Former Williamsport Mets Manager Bill Virdon Died Recently By Lou Hunsinger Jr.

S

everal weeks ago, news was received of the death of former Pirate, Yankees, and Astros manager Bill Virdon at the age of 90. Virdon has a strong Williamsport connection. He managed the 1966 Williamsport Mets, and later his grandson played for the Williamsport Crosscutters. Virdon was an accomplished major league player in his own right. He was a standout centerfielder for the Pittsburgh Pirates, narrowly losing the National League batting title in 1956 to the great Hall of Famer, Hank Aaron. One of Virdon’s most memorable baseball moments came in the climactic seventh game of the 1960 World Series against the Yankees. He hit a ground ball that struck Yankees shortstop Tony Kubek in the throat after taking an unpredictable bounce, enabling Virdon to reach base safely. This started a rally for the Pirates that

culminated in Bill Mazeroski’s home run that won the series for Pittsburgh. After retiring as a player following the 1965 season, he became a coach and manager in the Mets organization. His first managerial assignment was here in 1966 with the Williamsport Mets. On paper, the 1966 Williamsport Mets were a team of considerable promise. Several returning veterans from the ‘65 club were expected to anchor and spark a pennant-contending team. Included among these key Mets’ players were Hank McGraw, Bernie Smith, Lloyd Flodin, Bob Schmidt, and “Bunky” Warren, just to name a few. Unfortunately, even their experience and leadership within the clubhouse failed to offset Williamsport’s streaky performance during the ‘66 campaign. Though the season was punctuated by several excellent pitching performances by the Mets’ pitching staff, they were too few-and-far-between to make the

team truly competitive. Virdon had to insert himself into the line-up on a couple of occasions when injuries left the Mets depleted. Most observers agreed that Virdon did a competent and professional job as the Mets’ manager. He recalled his time with Williamsport with great fondness and remembered Williamsport baseball fans as being very knowledgeable. I talked to Virdon about this in 2004 when his grandson Brent Holmes was playing for the Crosscutters. Virdon said he really liked the fans of Williamsport, and he enjoyed his experience here. One of the most interesting sidebars to the 1966 season included the brief, but memorable, appearance of future Hall-of-Famer Nolan Ryan in a Williamsport uniform. Like his famed fastball, the legendary “Ryan Express,” his time in Williamsport was all-too fleeting. Ryan was on the Williamsport roster for a little less than two weeks; nevertheless, he showcased some of the talent that destined him for greatness at the major league level. He arrived in Williamsport as a

fresh-faced, wiry Texan (only nineteen) from Greenville, South Carolina, where he had thoroughly dominated the Western Carolina League, leading the league in wins (17) and strikeouts (272). Virdon later went back to the Pirate organization, where he was a coach on the 1971 World Championship team. He succeeded the legendary Danny Murtagh as Pirate manager. He went on to managerial stints with the Yankees, the Astros, and the Expos. He left behind an enviable record and reputation and was the ultimate baseball lifer. On a completely unrelated note, I must note my sorrow and anger that former outstanding Williamsport Grays and Phillies slugger, Dick Allen, was again passed over for induction into the National Baseball Hall of Fame, as in 2017, he missed by one excruciating vote. This is a crying shame that hopefully will be rectified the next time the Golden Age of Baseball Committee meets in five years.

Andrea’s Home Cookin…

May Your Days be Merry and Bright

I

have to say that Christmas lights are just one of those things that make me genuinely happy. I can’t help but pass a house full of Christmas lights and smile. I know I told you all the first Christmas that I started writing that when I was four years old, we moved to Roosevelt Avenue in Old Lycoming Township. I could see Candy Cane Lane from my window in my little back bedroom. I’d look out, and on the mountain could see the street shining bright. I pictured what it looked like in my head until Mom and Dad took me

thorns, pretty much. (Ha!) Our house sits in the middle. Our houses are done in white; then my dad’s in colored. When he moved out here a few years ago, my brother told him he was ruining our “country white” lookout here. We always tease him! But my dad’s just wouldn’t look the same in white, just like our houses wouldn’t with colored. My dad will argue with me, saying he will make our house look fabulous with colored lights, but I beg to differ with him over my rustic primitive look. That’s why our house on Roosevelt had white in the front yard and colored in the backyard. My mom loves white lights

over. My face was probably smashed against the car window once we finally got over there, taking in every single house that shined so bright. Christmas lights make me feel like an eight-yearold little girl again. I’m ninety percent sure my dad loves Christmas lights as much as me. He always had our house lit up so pretty every year and worked all day on them, making sure everything worked and looked perfect. He is now in his sixties and puts up more lights now than he ever did! We were out hanging up lights at our

house at the beginning of December, and he drove up on the tractor. He lives below us. He said, “It looks really nice, honey. BUT, it could be better if they were colored, though!” There has always been the battle of white light Andrea and colored lights in McElroy this family. It honestly wouldn’t feel like December if there wasn’t. My brother and I do white lights. My brother lives above us. So I am the rose between two

too. Listen, I love all lights! Colored, white, LED, all blue, and even the C7s. I just prefer white on my own house with hints of red and green. I got engaged on Candy Cane Lane, for Pete’s sake! Trust me; I love them all! Lights are like Christmas — it’s like the gift of light when people need it most. It’s not dark and depressing. There’s so much joy in it! Candy Cane Lane is my favorite place in the world. My daughter is the same way. We love going up and down at LEAST four times in a row. This year Locally Owned

there were so many new things, and things changed around. My husband cracks up at me because I’ll be like, “So that house had the Santa’s hiney on fire, but now they gave it to their neighbors because it just wouldn’t match their adorable gingerbread house theme!” It’s like I have it memorized year to year. No wonder, with as much as I am there! To everyone who works so hard on Candy Cane Lane, thank you. You make so many people happy and give us a wonderful tradition each year to enjoy. I can’t imagine having Christmas time with no Candy Cane Lane. We went to Locally Operated

Elizabethtown for Christmas with my brother and sister-in-law, and on the way home, stopped at the Stone Gables Estates. Six hundred thousand lights and gorgeous barns and churches lit up throughout the drive. It was absolutely breathtaking!! I’d drive two hours to go see it again and tell everyone to go see it if you can. Truly amazing. But it wasn’t my Candy Cane Lane. It’s the memories that go with Candy Cane Lane that make it so special. Memories as a little girl talking to Santa on Christmas Eve and getting a candy cane, to my boyfriend getting down on one knee and proposing to me on December 19, 2004, on that very street, and taking my kids up Candy Cane Lane for the first time. The memories will continue on, and with each year. I hope that Christmas lights bring light to your life. That any darkness you may have, may the brightness of Christmas bring you JOY. Instead of a recipe, you get a Scavenger Hunt on Candy Cane Lane! Go over and have fun with it. This scavenger hunt goes clear to the top of Summer Street at the stop sign and then makes the left onto the top of Spring Street. Last year the week I did this, it snowed 2 feet, so many things you couldn’t see. Here’s a new list, and I hope a new tradition I can give your family each December.

glowy, dewy, or radiant effects since these will only create the appearance of more shine. IT Cosmetics’ Bye Bye Foundation has an oil-free, matte moisturizer and SPF 50 right on the label. It provides full coverage to create the illusion of an ultrasmooth, naturallooking complexion. L’Oreal’s Pro-Matte Foundation is budget-friendly and won’t irritate while balancing between a fresh and completely shine-free look. If you prefer a powder foundation, NYX’s Professional Makeup Stay Matte But Not Flat Foundation is another affordable choice. The pigmented pressed powder offers customizable coverage, and the matte formula is ideal for oily skin. For combination skin, you may want to switch up your foundation choice depending on what your skin is doing on any particular day. If you wake up more on the shiny side, Laura Mercier’s Flawless Fusion Long Lasting Foundation is oil-free with a matte finish and weightless medium to full coverage, which is great for a full day’s wear. If your face feels tight and dry, try a more hydrating product like IT Cosmetics’ Your Skin But Better CC cream. The hydrating serum in this product gives high coverage without clinging to any flakey skin and is oil-free to combat any

shine that may occur during the day. Skin losing its elasticity with lines and wrinkles becoming more pronounced is less than ideal for makeup application. And the wrong foundation can make signs of aging even more noticeable. However, the right foundation can enhance a mature complexion, especially one with anti-aging agents like Age Perfect Radiant Serum Foundation, which hydrates, evens skin tone, and comes with SPF 30. If you prefer more coverage and something a little more mattifying, try Estee Lauder’s Double Wear Stay-in-Place Foundation. This is another “buildable” makeup to use as little or as much as you need for covering sun and age spots while leaving skin looking naturally flawless. Of course, you don’t need to wear foundation at all. You may very well find that with a bit of concealer, powder, and gloss, you are good to go. Or, you can forgo makeup altogether and rely on your skincare routine to put your best face forward. Or, you may just wash your face at night and leave it at that; it’s whatever works for you. But, for those of us that utilize foundation, whether daily or on special occasions, it’s good to investigate potential buys, checking out ingredients and user reviews before investing in a quality product.

T

oday we’re going to show you how to make this super fluffy Santa slime for Christmas. This Santa mason jar would make a fun gift for the slime fan or simply use it to store the slime when you’re done playing with it! If you’re looking for some Christmas activities to do with your kids this year, making slime can be such a fun activity! You

any fluffy slime loses its “fluffiness” after a day, but the slime will continue to be fine to play with! Let’s make your Santa Jar first! It’s really simple, you’ll just need: – wide black ribbon – gold glitter foam paper – black buttons. First add your large ribbon around your jar. You can hot glue (adults only) the ribbon to the jar. Then glue on your gold belt on top of your ribbon. Now glue two buttons to the top of the jar or use glue dots. Now that your Santa mason jar is complete we can make the fluffy Santa slime! Ingredients Needed for your Santa Slime – Red Glitter Glue (4.5-5 oz) – 1/4 cup water

– 1/2 teaspoon baking soda – 4 cups unscented shaving cream (more if you’d like) – Liquid Red Food Coloring – 2 TBSP contact solution **Important: your brand of contact lens solution must have boric acid and sodium borate in the ingredient list. This is what interacts with the glue to form the slime.

SANTA SLIME Santa Slime Recipe Instructions 1. First empty your bottle of red glitter glue into a bowl and mix in your water. Adding water is optional but it will make your slime stretchier. 2. Now mix in your baking soda. 3. Now add your 4 cups of shaving cream in and mix. This is where you’ll need to add more red food coloring. The food coloring can stain so be sure to use a spoon for

mixing and cover any surfaces to protect from staining. You’ll need to add a lot of food coloring to get it red since the shaving cream is white. Also note that mixing with your hands you will get slightly stained from the red but it can be easily washed off. 4. Now slowly mix in your contact lens solution. If you add too much in, it will make your slime hard and not as stretchy.

We like to add just a teaspoon at a time and mix until you’re satisfied that the slime is not too sticky. 5. Now knead, knead, knead while continuing to add in your contact solution a teaspoon at a time. If this is your first time making slime, you’ll be surprised how much you need to knead and mix the slime before it’s a good consistency. This is normal. Keep mixing and slowly add in more contact solution. 6. At this point you can see how

your slime consistency has turned out. If it’s too sticky, add a bit more contact solution. If it’s not fluffy enough, you can add another cup of shaving cream and work it into the slime. If you’re still finding it sticky you can use some hand lotion on your hands while you’re mixing and kneading it. Now you can play! Give these as gifts or simply have the kids play with the fluffy Santa slime! These would also be perfect for a Christmas party. Then seal up

UPMC Therapist: Blood Flow Restriction Therapy Not Just for Athletes By Devin Crebs, DPT Physical Therapist, UPMC Rehabilitation Services

E

very four years, the Summer Olympics shows the world the latest training or recovery method the greatest athletes have taken up. In 2016, many athletes had red circular marks on their skin from “cupping,” an ancient Chinese practice involving suction on sore muscles and tendons. This year, the hot trend appears to be tourniquets, more specifically blood flow restriction therapy. While the Olympians may have made it mainstream, it’s a technique that physical therapists and trainers have been using since the 1960s for post-surgical patients and injuries involving muscle weakness. How It Works This training involves restricting blood flow to certain muscles for limited periods of time in a controlled manner by a physical therapist with specialty certification in blood flow restriction techniques. The therapy both enhances the effects of training and stimulates recovery. It requires the application of a device like a blood pressure cuff or tourniquet to safely

compress the blood vessels underneath. The goal is to apply enough pressure to completely restrict the venous blood flow (blood leaving the muscle), while allowing arterial blood flow (blood going into the muscle). When done correctly, blood ends up pooling in the muscle beyond the tourniquet, creating a hypoxic environment in which the tissue is deprived of oxygen. This lack of oxygen is said to increase growth hormones, muscle hypertrophy, and muscle strength. Who May Benefit? While research demonstrates that blood flow restriction can decrease muscle atrophy on its own, physical therapists typically incorporate exercise with the use of the cuffs. The greatest benefit is that muscular gains can be attained without the stress of high loads, weight, or resistance. Simple, low-load exercises can produce a similar muscle burn to traditional heavier weight training. Blood flow restriction therapy can affect improvement in muscle strength in patients who are unable to perform high-resistance exercise, have weight-lifting restrictions, or who have persistent extremity weakness despite traditional therapy. Patients who could benefit in-

while still applying the Collective’s renowned music curriculum. Classes and workshops are offered at no additional charge to those students enrolled in private lessons at the Collective. “The Collective is always enrolling for private lessons,” said UMC assistant executive director, Jared Mondell. “Our enrollment weeks are the best time to get involved, but our doors are always open to those who want to connect with music.” In the last 21+ years, the Uptown Music Collective has grown from what many used to call “the best-kept secret in the Williamsport area,” to one of the area’s most highly respected, nonprofit, educational organizations. While the school is dedicated to providing a well-rounded

not only learn how to play music. You learn to live and breathe it. The teachers here inspire you. Bring you to new levels of what you never thought you’d accomplish. Setting new goals for yourself every time you step foot in that building. Learning an instrument somewhere else… just isn’t the same.” Even though the Collective is known for highly talented student performers, there is no previous experience needed to enroll and

take lessons. There are currently openings for students of all levels who are looking for private instruction. The school also offers financial assistance upon request and scholarship opportunities every year. The school feels strongly about the role of music in creating well-rounded, thoughtful young people, and works to establish characteristics such as self-discipline and personal responsibility in each of its

students through healthy habits such as practice and self-control. Uptown Music Collective students consistently perform at high levels not only musically, but also in their respective schools and as valuable members of other community organizations. The Bookworm Sez Gift Guide 2021 – Part 2 By Terri Sclichenmeyer

ou knew this was coming. You knew that you were going to have to finish your holiday shopping soon but it snuck up on you, didn’t it? And even if you’re close to being done, there are always those three or five people who are impossible to buy for, right? Remember this, though: books are easy to wrap and easy to give, and they last awhile, too. So why not head to the bookstore with your Christmas List and look for these gifts... No doubt, there’s someone on your list who plays favorites, when it comes to sports. That’s why you’ll want to wrap up “Talking to GOATs” by Jim Gray. It’s a book full of interviews with sports’ Greatest Of All Time competitors (GOATs, get it?). Surely, there’s more argument in this book, just as there’s more to know about superstar professionals. Want to make a home run this holiday? Then wrap up “42 Today: Jackie Robinson and His Legacy,” edited by Michael G. Long. It’s a collection of essays on the impact Robinson left on folks today, and memories that others

have of the great man. For the woman on your list who has a love-hate relationship with sports, wrap up “Sidelined: Sports, Culture, and Being a Woman in America” by Julie DiCaro. It’s a book that looks at pro sports’ “thorny issues”of sexism, exploitation, and the toxicity that women sometimes face when competing. Not for the faint of heart, for sure. If there’s a young player on your list, here’s a book for their parents: “The Brain on Youth Sports” by Julie M. Stamm, PhD. Help them lay to rest the myths and be armed with the facts on brain injuries in kids’ sports. History The reader who can’t have enough World War II history will relish reading “Into the Forest” by Rebecca Frankel. It’s the true story of a family that escaped the Nazis by hiding in a nearby wooded area and they were able to stay safe for two years. Decades later, long after their liberation in 1944, another miracle happened and so did love. Wrap it up with a tissue. It’s that kind of book. For the person who races through books faster than fast, wrap up “The Matter of Black Lives: Writing from The New Yorker,” edited by Jelani Cobb and

and Eve” by Julie Metz. It’s the story of Metz’s cosmopolitan, ultra-urbane mother and the side that Metz didn’t know about: when Eve was a child, she lived in Nazi-occupied Vienna. Wrap it up with a bookmark, though your giftee won’t need it. Hollywood biography lovers will truly enjoy unwrapping “Elizabeth and Monty: The Untold Story of Their Intimate Friendship” by Charles Casillo. It’s the story of a deep friendship, but that’s not all; it’s also a dual-biography of two of H-wood’s most beloved stars. The teacher in your life will love reading “Matchsticks” by Fred Engh. In 1961, Engh was a husband and father living in Maryland when he was inspired by an interview he saw that made him want to become a Physical Education teacher. And so Engh, a white man, enrolled in Maryland State College, which was then an all-black, segregated school. Bonus: this book is also a great read for the sports fan on your list. For the skater on your list, wrap up “The Most Fun Thing” by Kyle Beachy. The author is a skateboarder and he writes about how he first learned the sport, what it’s like to be a middleaged sk8r, and he addresses other “fun things” about life and skateboarding.

David Remnick. It’s a thick anthology filled with essays from decades ago but are still relevant, thoughts that need reconsideration, and historical tales that modern eyes need to see. Wrap it up with “Black Nerd Problems” by William Evans & Omar Holmon, a book that’s perfect for geeks, nerds, Conlovers, and gamers of any race. History lovers will love unwrapping “Travels with George” by Nathaniel Philbrick, a book that chronicles the author’s trip across America to see how our country has change, including the way we see George though modern eyes. Memoir and Biography For the fan of police procedurals and courtroom drama, “Redeeming Justice” by Jarrett Adams is a no-brainer gift. When he was just a teenager, an allwhite jury convicted Adams of a crime he didn’t commit and they sent him to prison. Ten long years later, he was exonerated and released but not without help and a long fight to prove his innocence. He’s now an attorney and this is a must-read tale. Wrap it up with “The Prison Guard’s Daughter: My Journey Through the Ashes of Attica” by Deanne Quinn Miller, whose father was murdered in the 1971 Attica Prison uprising. The reader who’s also a fan of World War II stories will want to unwrap “Eva

BOOKWORM It’s like a biography on wheels. If you know a family that loves to travel, wrap up “We Came, We Saw, We Left” by Charles Wheelan. Long before Covid-19, the Wheelan family decided to take a long extended trip to “recharge and reflect” and see the world. Picture it: nine months and six continents with three teenagers. Wrap it with an atlas because you know what could be next... Fans of the late Anthony Bourdain will absolutely love unwrapping “Bourdain: The Definitive Oral Biography” by Laurie Woolever, who was Bourdain’s co-author on many books. This is a collection of memories from those who loved Bourdain, like a love letter to those who followed him fiercely. For the woman who finds herself alone this holiday, “But You Seemed So Happy: A Marriage, in Pieces and Bits” by Kimberly Harrington is a book about the end of a marriage, but also about the beginning of a marriage, things between those two points, and how it’s possible to find something good again. Readers who love historical biographies will devour “Cleopatra: The Queen Who Challenged Rome and Conquered Eternity” by Alberto Angela. It’s a sweeping story and your giftee will love getting it, no de Nile.

What do you give to the person who longs for a time gone by? How about “The Farm on Badger Creek: Memories of a Midwest Girlhood” by Peggy Prilaman Marxen? Set in Wisconsin in the middle of the last century, your reader will find tales of life on the farm, of one-room schoolhouses, chickens in the coop, and Grandma in the kitchen. It’s got warmth, and it’s perfect for the nostalgic one on your list. Business For the businessperson who wants to spend this winter making that business grow, wrap up “The Power of Trust: How Companies Build It, Lose It, Regain It” by Sandra J. Sucher & Shalene Gupta. Highly researched, this book explains why trust may be the most important advantage you have in your business, what you need to do to maintain your clients’ trust, and what to do if you lose it. If you’ve got someone on your gift list who struggles at work for whatever reason, then “Anxiety at Work” by Adrian Gostick & Chester Elton with Anthony Gostick will show you care about what they’re going through. This book offers eight strategies to overcome the Sunday Night Dreads, the lack of self-confidence, and the building of

book are fourteen “rules” to live and do business by, and all of them are easier than you’d think to incorporate into day-to-day life. Wrap it up and watch what happens! Pets and Animals If there’s someone on your list who loves animals, wildlife, and working to save them, then “The Wild World Handbook: Creatures” by Andrea Debbink, illustrated by Asia Orlando, is a great book to wrap up. This isn’t just about the animals or conservation efforts; it also includes easy-to-do projects to help creatures in the wild, mini-biographies of people who fought for conservation and preservation, and short chapters on animals and why we should care about them. This book is perfect for readers 12-to-17, but an adult who wants something light might likewise enjoy it. Pair it with “Wild Life!” by Re:wild and Syd Robinson, a book about weird and unique animals around the world, and what conservation efforts are doing to keep them there. Bonus: PICTURES! The dog lover on your list will really like “The Forever Dog” by Rodney Habib & Dr. Karen Shaw Becker with Kristin Loberg. It’s a book filled with ideas and science that’ll help that puppy parent keep their fur-kid around a whole lot longer. Season’s Readings!

It’s a book that will help your entrepreneur to strive for authenticity in business and, by extension, in life. Then let that authenticity lead to impact by giving “Impact Players: How to Take the Lead, Play Bigger, and Multiply Your Impact” by Liz Wiseman. Business is a hard game these days but “Rogue Waves” by Jonathan Brill will help ensure that the storm doesn’t last forever. This is a book that looks at the future, helping businesspeople to get there intact, make money, and survive. Wrap it up with “Flux: 8 Superpowers for Thriving in Constant Change” by April Rinne, a book that’ll help your business person to stay resilient. Pair it with “Reset: A Leader’s Guide to Work in an Age of Upheaval” by Johnny C. Taylor, Jr., a book on leading in times like ours. Delightful Dishes to Dazzle Holiday Guests

E

ntertaining guests during the holidays isn’t just about a main course that calls all to the table. What often makes a festive gathering more fruitful is a spread of delicious appetizers, delightful drinks and divine desserts that keep loved ones coming back to the kitchen for more. For appetizing dishes from the first guest at the house to the last out the door, you can heighten the flavor and appearance of favorite recipes with one simple ingredient: apples. Ranging from tart to sugary sweet, finding the right balance for your palate is key. Scent can also influence taste, especially when you have a balanced sweetness with an uplifting, fresh aroma. Turn to an option like Envy Apples this holiday season for satisfying texture and taste with a consistently balanced, refreshing sweetness coupled with a crisp, elegant crunch. They make for an easy snack when eaten fresh out of hand but are also perfect for holding over pre-dinner appetites in small plates like this Bell-Issimo Brie Melt or Apple Stuffing Bites with Rosemary Gravy.

The versatile flavor of apples isn’t just limited to foods, however. For the adults in the room, Pumpkin Spice Apple Cider with a splash of bourbon is a seasonally appropriate way to quench thirst and break the ice. Simply omit the bourbon for a kid-friendly version so the whole party can savor a sip. Easy to spot with their crimson red skin over a golden background that practically glows, Envy Apples offer an easy, eye-catching way to try new tastes and celebrate joyful occasions together. The bright white flesh is naturally slow to brown when sliced for a fresher flavor in sweet treats like Apple Oat Crumble and Citrus Caramel Topping

The Culvert Pipe Buck

everal years ago, I mentioned the culvert pipe buck in a Webb article and promised that someday I would tell the story. Well, I’ve been stuck in COVID quarantine for ten days during deer season. I can’t think of a better time than now to keep my promise! The year was 1993. A new hunting buddy invited me to hunt with him at a buck honey-hole his brother had been developing in West Chester

County, New York. When I say developing, I mean this: His brother had found a large tract of ground near his house, hundreds of acres, that had an absent and out-of-state owner. He bought a stack of No Trespassing signs and posted the property. He signed the name P. A. Young on every sign. That’s right, Pope and Young (Google it). For years he policed that ground and hunted it like it was his own. West Chester County was designat-

ed an archery-only county. With no gun pressure, and few hunters on that “private” ground, the bucks grew big. I was really blessed to be able to tag along Tim for a four-day Hartzell hunt. Man, did we see big bucks — and I missed easy shots at several of them. It’s hard to shoot accurately when you’re looking at

antlers instead of aiming at the vitals. Shortly after daylight on the third day of the hunt, a beautiful eightpoint came trotting down the ridge. I was so enamored by his rack that I pulled up and shot without trying to get him to stop. It was a solid hit but too far back. I watched that deer run all the way down the mountain and out of sight. It was the last time I ever shot an arrow at a moving deer. I had been archery hunting long enough to know that you don’t push wounded deer. So, I waited. When a grueling hour had passed, I began

trail headed down a driveway and within ten feet of an open garage door. It just wasn’t a good scene for a guy dressed in full camo and carrying a weapon. The buck meandered through a front yard and then down to a small creek that flowed through a culvert pipe under the driveway. I could find where the buck had approached the creek, but I couldn’t pick up the trail on the other side. I covered both sides of that little creek for quite a distance. Nothing. The trail had once again disappeared. I couldn’t imagine a deer crawling through a culvert pipe, so I didn’t bother to look. Finally, out of desperation, I crawled up into the pipe and turned on my flashlight. Blood. That crazy buck had crawled through the pipe and was following the stream up the other side of the driveway. Now you know the reason behind his nickname. Then things got nuts. While I was tracking the deer on the other side of the pipe, one of the homeowners spotted me. He let me know, in clas-

tracking. The trail was initially easy to follow, but then it got tough. By lunchtime, I had covered maybe three hundred yards. The deer was heading directly toward our truck. I daydreamed about how cool it would be to find it lying next to our ride — an easy drag! The trail led to within 20 yards of the truck and then disappeared. I dropped some of my gear and pondered on what to do next. I could imagine my buck standing right there. Was it possible the deer saw the truck and then backtracked? If so, the blood trail would branch off at some point and go in a new direction. I started circling back, and that’s exactly what I found. The trail split off to the left and headed for a line of houses at the base of the mountain. Being just outside New York City, West Chester County has some very expensive estates. The buck decided, for whatever reason, that sheltering near mansions was a good idea. It wasn’t. I found myself trailing my buck through meticulously manicured yards and around expansive swimming pools. At one point, the

sic New York fashion, that he had already called the police. They would arrive at any moment. I did what any self-respecting preacher-man would do — I ran. I headed up the mountain and into thick brush. In full camo, there was no way they could find me. It was now 2:00 p.m., six hours after the shot. Again, I pondered on what to do. Giving up on my first trophy buck was not an option. I knew the buck was following the creek, so I snuck down the mountain and along the back of the houses until I came to the last one. From there, I was able to gain covert access to the creek. As soon as I got to it, I found blood on a rock. I was back on the trail. That drop of blood was the last drop I found. I tracked upstream on both sides of the creek and just couldn’t pick up the trail. With daylight beginning to wane, I figured my hunt was over, and my buck was lost forever. If you’ve ever trailed a deer, you know exactly how I was feeling. So, I prayed a hunter’s desperate

prayer, “God, if you’ll help me find this buck, I’ll give you the glory every time I tell the story.” I walked back to the last drop of blood and started searching upstream one last time. That’s when I felt something telling me to turn around and walk the creek back toward the houses. The thought didn’t make sense — it was risky — and I was running out of daylight. Reluctantly, I turned around and started walking downstream. And there he was, lying dead in the water about fifty yards downstream of that last drop. He had backtracked again — and without a little nudge from God — I would never have found him. It reminds me of the time Jesus told Peter to throw his fishing net on the other side of the boat (see John 21). Sometimes God gives us a little extra help. Peter gave Jesus the glory, and I’m doing the same. By the time I finished field dressing my trophy, it was dark. It had been quite a day in the woods of West Chester County, New York.

n less than two weeks, the official start of winter — December 21 to be exact — will be upon us. As winter weather settles in and spending time by the fireplace becomes a much more enjoyable pastime, you might want to take time to focus your attention on some springtime activities in order to get your mind off of Mother Nature’s winter stranglehold. Let’s start by planning out what we can do this coming spring to better the habitat for deer, turkeys, grouse, and other wildlife. Consider creating two maps if your property is large enough to warrant this approach. One map should be of your own property, showing fields, forested areas, and logging roads along with water seeps, streams, or ponds. The second map should encompass the neighboring properties, with your property centered in the map, which will help identify what woodlots, crop-producing fields, and abandoned fields surround your own property.

Knowing what kind of habitat already surrounds your own acreage will help identify what can best be done to improve the cover and food sources you currently have available. All wildlife tends to prefer a varied habitat and a variety of foods. Once you have determined what already exists, you can more easily decide how to manage your own property. You might consider doing a total clearcut or two in forested areas, where the acreage could be as small as 1/4 acre or as large as 5 acres. Wildlife prefers edges, so rather than a simple squareshaped opening, consider making it a long rectangle or perhaps an “S” or “C” shape. Along the edges of the new opening, some logs can be stacked in a crisscross pattern, and some treetops left or brush piles created to house or protect nesting birds or cottontail rabbits. Once the sunlight is now able to hit the forest floor, seeds that have been dormant for years will begin to sprout, producing new nesting and bedding areas. Initially, you can expect

Fruit-bearing and mast-bearing trees and shrubs are a very beneficial addition to any habitat improvement site. Generally speaking, they are best planted along edges — either just outside food plots or along woodland borders. Standard apple trees, mulberry, and wild pear trees bear well in our area. Butternut trees, a wide variety of oak trees, and recently-developed strains of blight-resistant chestnut trees are good producers also. A variety of shrubs that can either be interspersed with the tree seedlings or planted in clumps by themselves will benefit wildlife. Consider elderberries, American hazelnut, or Serviceberries as additions to your habitat improvement efforts. Caution: All of these tree and shrub seedlings are vulnerable to browsing by deer and rodents. You will need to provide some degree of protection and maintenance for them for several years until they are well established. Planning now for these springtime planting activities will help chase away the winter doldrums, and by the time you lay out your game plan and order your materials, it will be time to get outside and start planting!

to see blackberries, raspberries, and seedlings of fire cherry and some evergreens filling in the opening. If you are fortunate enough to have logging roads running through your woods, these roadbeds and roadsides are prime locations to plant grasses, clovers, and other legumes, which not only provide a food source for wildlife but also help prevent soil erosion. Off to the sides of these logging roads is another great spot to build log piles or brush piles for nesting and escape locations for small game and birds. Great rewards will come by upgrading abandoned fields if they exist on your property. It is good to leave some of the open fields untouched, but developing a few food plots, varying in size from 1/4 acre to one or two acres will really draw and hold game. Field corn or soybeans are a top choice, but if they are already an established crop on a neighboring property, you might consider a mix of clovers or some of the food plot mixes that have been developed for deer, turkeys, and other wildlife. The greatest key to a successful food plot is to take adequate soil samples and adhere to their recommendations.

only 1.3. Another interesting fact that I found was that we are taking bigger and more mature bucks here in Pennsylvania, which is no doubt due to the antler restrictions introduced a few years back. Before antler restrictions, about 82 percent of our buck kill was made up of yearlings, and just 18 percent were two and one-half years old. Now over the past three years, our buck harvest has averaged only 35 percent yearlings, and up to 65 percent of our buck kill is now two and one-half years or older. That we are taking older bucks with bigger racks doesn’t surprise most of us; just look at the photos our fellow hunters are flashing in our faces. As I write this piece, there are still some deer hunting opportunities left, and my wife and I are still hoping to cash in on one of those bucks or maybe even a doe. Hopefully, I can nail one from my treestand rather than the buck I barely missed last week with my truck as I was driving into Muncy.

along highways or basing your count on a couple of days in the woods probably doesn’t give us much to go on when it comes to estimating what’s really out there, so I decided to do a little digging; here’s what I found. It turns out that Pennsylvania ranks pretty high when it comes to the deer harvest. In 2020-21 Pennsylvania hunters took an estimated 435,180 deer, which was 12 percent higher than the previous year, and it was the highest take in 15 years. It was also the tenth time since 1993 that the overall harvest went over the 400,000 mark. According to the National Deer Association’s “Deer Report 2021,” which was based on the previous year, Pennsylvania ranked second only to Michigan when it came to bucks harvested per square mile; Pennsylvania had 3.6 per square mile while Michigan barely passed us at 3.7 per square mile. The rest of the northeastern part of the country only averaged around 2.3 per square mile, and the national average was

passed to them, and they accepted that challenge. Before the season started, we heard the chatter. We saw the twitter. We heard the breezes up and down the valley about how we wouldn’t have a winning season. These kids proved that kind of talk wrong, winning 14 games — the most in school history. Everyone involved in our program needs to be commended. “The bus ride home was pretty quiet. They had played their hearts out. We shared some private conversations with them. Before they got on the bus, we were able to feed them. On that long bus ride home, most of the kids were sleeping. We didn’t get home until 12:30 a.m., but there was still a crowd of people at the school to greet us.”

That kind of community response has also grown to be a tradition in Jersey Shore. “The community’s response to the team has always been fantastic,” Gravish added. “In 2013, when we won a district championship that we weren’t expected to win, the community was pretty excited. When we got home, the fire trucks were waiting for us; the police department gave us an escort through town. People waited outside to greet us; little kids had lined up in their pajamas to wave to the team. Our fans celebrate with us right on the field after the game, and at away playoff games, our fans outnumbered our opponents. It all has been pretty special.” With its unique name and distant location from the sandy beaches of the

Atlantic Ocean, Jersey Shore has heard its butt of jokes. However, none of those are emanating from the high school football teams facing them along the line of scrimmage. That once unheard-of process has now been replaced by huge respect. Tom Gravish has left his mark. “We have a lot of fun at practices. Our assistance coaches (Chris Bilbay, Eric Hess, Alex Jackson, Robert Lundy, and Ken Williamson) are the best in the world. We have a great trainer in Jackie George and a great athletic director, Serena Henry. We have the best fans in the land, and we are very grateful. We have a special town, a special community, and it means a lot to our players. We’re already looking forward to the 2022 season.”

The Sun Gazette’s Doctor Chris Masse summed it up great, “Jersey Shore has written one of the best turnaround stories I’ve witnessed in my 22 years. The Bulldogs are a joy to watch because they are wildly entertaining, as tough as any team out there, relentlessly hard-working, and brilliantly coached. The 2021 team will take their place alongside so many other Bulldog greats. It proves that the Jersey Shore tradition truly never graduates.” Well said Doc. Congrats guys. Cheers.
