Playford Real Estate Opening Doors for You

written by Sarah Gray Real estate in southern Michigan is booming. No sooner does a house go on the market than an offer is made. Helping their clients through the process from “for sale” to “sold” is the expert team at Playford Real Estate. Located in downtown Jonesville, the Playford name is one that has been serving the area for decades from auto parts and musical instruments, and now to real estate. For owner and broker Mary Playford, this name is a source of pride. “It is nice to continue on the tradition of the Playford name.” Mary is not only carrying on the tradition in Hillsdale County, she is spreading the Playford name throughout southern Michigan and beyond. Mary began her real estate career in 2002 and in 2012 opened Playford Real Estate. Over the 10 years in business, PRE has grown into exactly what Mary had envisioned when she opened the doors. Her staff has grown to its current status of eight full-time professional agents and office staff. In 2020, she began renovations on the second suite of the building she owns at 255 E. Chicago Street. Edward Jones, the previous tenant, had just relocated and now Mary could create what she had planned for the space when she first opened. The large conference room facing US 12 with its beautiful floor to ceiling windows could now be where clients sign on the dotted line for their dream home. “A closing is a huge event,” Mary said. “It’s an exciting time. Our goal is to make each closing an experience that will not be forgotten.” Mary and her team want their clients to feel at home and have done just that with this renovation. Whether they are in the office to meet their agent for the first time, stopping by for a quick question, or signing the papers on their purchase, the comfortable lounge area, coffee bar, and formal yet inviting conference room show Playford Real Estate is both personable and professional. “We want to make it special,” Mary said of the newly-renovated space.

Title and Ervans Insurance Agency have both rented space within the Playford building. Mary is currently working to fill remaining space with various lenders that can be available to assist clients. With the market as good as it is right now, the agents have been able to schedule closing dates easily and allow their clients to come to one location for everything. The industry is in the midst of a seller’s market, meaning that as soon as a house goes on the market it is viewed multiple times and can have an offer in days, sometimes hours. Whether selling or buying, it is vital to have the right real estate agent for guidance through the process. “It is important to have an agent who meets the client’s needs, knows the market and has the experience to facilitate a smooth transaction for their clients. Our agents take pride in the many positive reviews and acknowledgements we receive from the buyers and sellers we work with.” Experience is important, but so is communication. How easily and quickly a client can get with their agent can make or break a sale. “We let our clients know we are available and accessible,” Mary said. Whether email, text, or call, Playford agents know the best way and the best time to contact their clients which makes sure they see every property for sale and every offer made. A big supporter of the Jonesville and surrounding communities, Playford gives back to the area it serves. While COVID postponed the most recent community event, the PRE team was planning—Cleats for Kids—they were still able to safely hold a “Fill the Truck” event to support Toys for Tots in December. In addition, they are often seen taking part in the county-wide events and supporting local clubs and organizations through volunteer work or sponsorships. “We love being visible in the communities we serve and supporting the different organizations and clubs in our area.”
