El Camino Ignaciano

EL CAMINO IGNACIANO EN EUSKADI 2022

The Ignatian Way recreates the itinerary that the knight Ignacio of Loyola covered in the year 1522 from his native town, Azpeitia (Gipuzkoa), to the Catalan city of Manresa. A pilgrimage that began after his spiritual conversion in Loyola, with the holy city of Jerusalem as his ultimate goal. The itinerary has been recreated from the Saint's personal annotations and it begins from the house where Ignacio was born in Loyola (Azpeitia).

The itinerary of the Ignatian Way begins in the Basque lands across two of its provinces, Gipuzkoa and Álava.

An experience with a strong cultural and historical character, aiming at making Iñigo de Loyola known as well as the environment, the land, the landscape, history...

The natural environment and urban centres, individually or together, create an itinerary of the greatest interest. A portentous trip with personal, cultural, historical and tourist overtones. A journey through some of the most impressive places in the Basque Country and its tangible and intangible heritage; this part of the Camino is the most spectacular of all levels over the entire route.

They call the route "against the current" because it goes in the opposite direction to the Camino de Santiago and furthermore because, if all paths tend to choose the valleys as the natural course of their journey, this one, the Ignatian, jumps from valley to valley as the channel across mountains. And this is what gives it its duress and beauty.

Everything that El Camino will bring will be unique experiences and incomparable landscapes along the route.

From Vivstylo we want to thank you for choosing to follow this pilgrimage. We are sure that it will not disappoint you. And all that remains is to walk, live and feel. Enjoy the Ignatian Way in Euskadi.
