Arts & Crafts Hardanger

Wetaskiwin Allied Art and Craft Centre New students will learn basic stitches of Scandinavian Embroidery and advanced students will work on their own projects. Old Master’s Portrait Techniques

Wetaskiwin Art Club You’ll finish an under painting of the famous Vermeer “Girl with a Pearl Earring.” Each will get an under painting completed on 11x14 canvas. You will learn to apply the final realistic coats of paint. Step by step the teacher, Carol Chapman, will explain and demonstrate the color mixing and brush techniques to apply realistic skin tones, eye colour, fabric folds, etc. Other supplies provided in fee: Oil paints, pallet paper, and cleaner. Painting on Silk Scarves

Wetaskiwin Art Club This course is open to all levels of ability from Beginner and up. Using special paints and silk provided you will produce your own original design or choose from a variety of patterns for your scarf. The teacher, Caryn Wellingtan-Anderson will demonstrate and guide you through the process. Kids’ Pottery

Wetaskiwin Allied Art and Craft Centre Children will make a variety of items in this fun, hands-on class and discover different clay-building techniques (hand-building and wheel). Design Your One-of-a-Kind Bracelet

Beginner Stained Glass

Wetaskiwin Allied Art and Craft Centre Students will learn the copper foil method to make an approximate 11� square panel in three basic colours. An additional colour may be purchased if desired. They will learn to cut the pattern, transfer it to the glass, cut the glass, grind the sharp edges which are then foiled and soldered together. Students 16 years of age and over.

Rag Rug Hooking

Wetaskiwin Allied Art and Craft Centre An old craft enjoying a resurgence and a wonderfully creative medium. Start with a small project (wall-hanging, tea cozy, etc). Designs supplied to help you choose. Teenagers and up. Instructor: Donna Brunner Location: 4520-48 Ave., Curling & Crafts Ctr. Date: Sat. Feb. 25 and Sun. Feb. 26, 2012 Time: 9am - 4pm (2 day workshop) Fee: $100.00. Pay instructor $30. for starter kit at first class. Students must bring a 45 mm. rotary cutter, cutting mat, ruler, sharp scissors and any old fabric, old clothing, polyester, cotton, wool, fortrel, silk, ribbon, etc. in the colours you wish to use. Floral Needle Felting with Embellishments

Wetaskiwin Allied Art and Craft Centre Students will “paint” a floral garden scene by using a technique of interlocking wool, rovings/yarns to wool yardage using special felting needles and enhancing it with embroidery stitches using various threads. Antiquing with Paint Workshop

Wetaskiwin Allied Art and Craft Centre Through the use of paint, stain and other mediums, we will achieve very antique looks on your own furniture or accessory pieces (they should be in good repair but not necessarily nicely finished). Course fee includes a pre-meet or phone call with instructor to determine the suitability and colour choices for your project. There will be time to work on a medium-sized, or a number of smaller pieces. Note: This class will not involve any stripping which is not necessary in most cases depending on what you want to do with your piece. Student age 16+. When my kids saw these, they all wanted one, including my teen and adult children. The hardest part will be choosing colours. For more information, see description in adult class. Join the craze - eco-friendly, heat resistant, durable and timeless. Lamps put together with jigsaw pieces made from recycles polycarbonate. Revitalizing Your Wood Cabinets

Wetaskiwin Allied Art and Craft Centre Kitchen and Bathroom Cabinets seen better days? Bones still good - lustre and colour wearing off? Rejuvenate your cabinets without stripping and a lot of muscle and time - add new life to your existing cabinets! Bring the worst of your doors and drawers - cabinet drawers, of course - and we will work hands-on to discover the best stain colour and type to refresh them before applying a new colour coat. Easy to do once you know the steps. Note: This course is not about making drastic colour changes, although we will cover ways that could be done. We will determine stain colours and finishes specific to each person’s problems and wood-type. The student will leave armed with the product and procedure knowledge to refurbish their cabinets.
