 Aquafit

Aquafit is a great way to add variety to your fitness routine. Improved muscle tone and cardiovascular fitness are just two of the many benefits you will gain from putting on your swimsuit and jumping into the water. Aquafit uses the water for resistance. Low to zero impact is easy on bones and joints. Enjoy a 1-hour class set to music. Work at your own pace, no swimming skills required.

 Deep Water Aquafit

Often recommended for rehabilitation, it is also used for general fitness and as an accelerated training method for athletes. The natural buoyancy of the water reduces strain on your joints, bones and muscles by as much as 90 percent. Take advantage of this buoyancy while receiving a similar cardiovascular benefit to a traditional workout. Participants may choose to use a floatation belt.

 Stretch & Move

Perfect for people recovering from an injury, people with restricted mobility, seniors or those simply looking for light exercise. Focusing on improving flexibility and mobility, participants who find exercising on land “challenging” can comfortably and safely be active in the water. Water is a forgiving medium, reducing joint compression and the downward pull of gravity. Enjoy this half hour class set to music; no swimming skills required.

Most older adults want to age in place in their own home and their own community.

What is “Aging in Place? Aging in Place means having the health and social supports and services you need to live safely and independently in your home or your community for as long as you wish and are able.

Why is having a plan important? Planning for Aging in Place could help you improve your future and the future of your loved ones.

Making choices now could give you greater control over your independence, quality of life and dignity.

Making a plan will give you a better chance to have a satisfying and positive experience as you age, and will help you to age in place.

When should I start planning? The earlier you start planning for Aging in Place, the more prepared you will be to respond to changes that may occur as you age such as changes in your health, finances, mobility or social connections. Being prepare for the future could help you make the most of your later years. Make every moment a learning moment. 2. Intentional Play. 3. Learn how to better support your child’s learning development.

All our programs are FREE. No charge, no fundraising. However, help with our Cleaning Bees much appreciated, but completely voluntary! We welcome ALL families, day home providers, aunts, grandpas, neighbours, and friends…anyone with young children in their lives. These are some of the things you will find at Parent Link:

 Unstructured play

Following your child’s lead in play strengthens your bond, let’s you learn about their development and allows you to see the world through their eyes. Drop-in play opportunities allow you to just enjoy some free play with your child.

 Structured play

Explore different activities that teach your child important skills through play. We offer programs around crafts, messy play, art, cooking, music, drama, science, active play and more and are constantly trying to respond to interests, community needs and trends in the field with fresh and new ideas. Check our calendars for what’s happening each month.

 Parent EducatioN

Learn about different topics around the joys and challenges of being a parent. We offer groups, info sessions and individual coaching throughout the year. We teach the Triple P Parenting approach (www. triplep-parenting.net), a positive parenting approach that lets you choose from a variety of strategies to help strengthen your relationship with your child, teach new skills, promote positive behaviour, manage difficult behaviour and be prepared for challenging situations.

 Information about your child’s development

Are you curious what to expect from your child at what age? Unsure whether a certain behaviour is unusual or actually typical? Fill out the ASQ and ASQ-SE questionnaires online (www.centralparklandparentlink.ca) and we can show you how your child is developing in different areas like motor skills, communication, problem-solving, social and emotional development and support you in being your child’s first and most important teacher.

 Connections and support

Opportunities to meet other families, connect with other parents, learn from one another, discuss questions and concerns, learn about the resources and programs in our community and strategies to take care of yourself as a parent. Whether you are a new, first-time parent with lots of questions or an experienced, busy parent just looking to get out of the house… we have something for you. 2016 FALL PROGRAM GUIDE
